I agree with that sentiment. But in order for a happy ending to flow naturally and not seem tacked on, it needs to feel like a natural progression. Shepard and waifu riding off into the sunset does not seem like a natural next page in this story. Shepard has sacrificed everything to get to this point, and suddenly she gets to live out her life in comfort with little blue babies or whatever? Talk about a thematic 180° turn. Shepard has already DIED trying to stop the Reapers once. How do we get from the theme of Shepard's endless string of sacrifices to suddenly winning the lottery? That only works if all you care about is your iWife, and not the overall continuity of the story's theme (which is, of course, botched anyway). But hey, if you're drowning and cheese, you might as well pour on more cheese...
