How much more painful do you think this thread would be for you if it was in the SP forums (The SP is one of my favorite games ever but not everyone agrees lol)?

LOL omg......... I can't even imagine the insults, flames, and bans that would ensue. But yes, the EC gave me EVERYTHING I asked for, and I'm just tickled pink over it!

Edit: I can only stomache that part of the forums for one cruise-through a day.

So... what changed to make you so much more active lately?

That isn't just me, right? There seems to be a lot more Bioware team activity on the forums now...

Admittedly, many are cautious to the point of concern that they will be received the wrong way or taken out of context.  While very skilled at their jobs, some are not as comfortable with public venues.  It took me months before I became "comfortable" with the idea before I began getting my feet wet, as it were.  It could just be my perception though.  I can't speak for everyone, of course.

Thanks for that. Feels like it helped a lot. People will happily rage against a faceless company, and will rage even more loudly if they feel it's not getting them anywhere, but when there's actual people to talk to... suddenly everyone starts being civil. It certainly makes for a nice change. :)

I understand and I think you are right.  I know if people saw the anguish here in the office when a particular bug or glitch falls through the preverbial cracks you would see we feel your pain.

Being QA it hurts even moreso. Image IPB

I know exactly what you mean. I'm more or less in a position where bugs tend to effect the thousands of customers we have, but then moreso the safety issues that open up to our customer's customers when things don't work. It can feel terrible!

Just remember that no one is dying though if you make a mistake! .... Well outside the game I mean.

Another useless question that popped up in my mind. A lot of you Bioware folks seem to use characteristic smileys at the end of your post. Does that limit the number of Bioware employees allowed on the forums to the number of smileys?  :?

Thank you Bioware for the changes to the store.

This! Since I know you are reading this thread! This to the Nth degree! I actually used $10 last night with the store, simply as a thank you for making the change! I was tickled pink with it!

And I did $40 in ms points, all kinds of new stuff to play with, love the LV4 items. I think it's good, if one so feels inclined to spend a few bucks, that is just my opinion, it costs a lot to not only keep this gear running but to add features, it's a very small token of my appreciation and support.

Started the campaign again, for me it's almost like a new game as I have learned so much from playing MP.....considering how many times I have played ME1 and 2 over the years, I had no idea how some of this stuff works, especially cool downs and biotic powers of the team.

Another question for Derek and the Bio-Devs...

What is your favorite game series outside of Mass Effect?

(Come on... please tell me you can answer this one!) :D

Question for the Devs. When you play ME3, is your name-tag thingy gold and shiny?

Pulse rifle? Mattock? It's a shame that they must not play much gold. And if they do they don't beat it. Those weapons are fun, but way too underpowered to be a viable option on gold unfortunately. Unless you want your teammates to carry you.

No, it is not... but they do sometimes play with level X promotional weapons!

Here's a question for the Bioware team... any chance one of the devs could toss me an extra Harrier? I've been trying to unlock that weapon since it became available to no avail... *sadface* :crying:

;)

Here's a question that you may or may not be allowed to answer.

It's obvious that the multiplayer community is frustrated with some longstanding bugs such as the Vanguard Charge glitch, ULM not working, etc. Can you offer any examples of equally annoying, gamebreaking, or just amusing bugs that were caught and fixed before the final product was shipped?

Yes, I'd like to hear this one.
Also, any chance of new types of Ammo consumables being added to the game? I miss Explosive Ammo and Hammerhead Rounds...

Either this is going to be multiplayer only, or he's inevitably going to mention the Ashley hospital bug, which when fixed, caused the engineering bug.

Why the Q&A people don't just patch the game to set integer 10314 to 8 if the game detects Ash is dead somehow is beyond me.
Wouldn't be a perfect fix, but it certainly seems likely to be a very economical one, space wise as compared to fixing it properly.

But enough talk about that, let's talk about how much we all love to punch a Phantom in the face and kill her. :wizard:

If the BioWare developers are taking questions...

The main reason I enjoy playing ME is because of choice.
Have you thought of applying this to MP?

Example: A MP squad gets dropped onto a map. The group of 4 sees Cerberus engaged with the Reapers. The announcer says, "Okay team your objective is to decide who to aide: Ceberus or the Reapers?". Throughout the match, the team is given objectives to complete. They aide on side, while harming the other.
Throughout the course of the operation, the community decides who they aided. At the end, if more choose Cerberus, the next week they are "buffed": Phantoms spawn sooner & more of them, more Mechs & more of them. The Reapers, who we choose not to aide? If they are the sole enemy, there's less of them. However, if on a map with Cerberus... They can show up seeking revenge, on either Cerberus or the players, or both.

I don't know how this would work, I'm just a gamer, but it'd be cool if what we did had a impact.

Yeah, I'm talking multiplayer bugs here.

To answer your question, the Engineering bug is probably buried deep in the code, in a file that several other files depend on.  That means if they wanted to fix that bug, they'd have to modify and recompile the file, and the files that depend on it would pick up on that and also have to be recompiled.  Any files that depend on the recompiled files will in turn have to be recompiled, etc.  And all these recompiled files would have to be included in the patch.  Depending on the code structure, the total size could be in the gigabytes.

I could be wrong, but that's the only explanation I can think of that would explain their reluctance to fix it.

Hey Folks,

I was away for the Canada Day long weekend.  Let's see if I can respond to the posts I was away for here. Image IPB

Hmm...

P51Mus7ang: Thanks man!  We really do appreciate it when you, the fans, appreciate the effort we put forth. Image IPB

MajorBlazkowicz:  Turians and their makeup...Good question.  While I am an advocate for people looking their best on the battle field, I really can't say one way or the other as to whether or not this is something that will be changed.  (It is not a simple hotfix and would require a patch, unfortunately).  Still, Turians and lipstick...I guess a guy / gal can dream. Image IPB

Drummernate:  One of my favourite games outside of Mass Effect.  Dragon Age.  Admittedly, back when I joined the team I was excited about the prospect of working with either title.  Outside of BioWare, I've enjoyed the Assassin's Creed  and Splinter Cell series of games.  Stealth gameplay...What can I say? Image IPB

Krozuhsky:  My Origin ID is gold-engraved with a neon border...in my mind.  At this stage, that's the only place I can have my GT unique Image IPB

Leisure Muffin: I think I've been zinged. Image IPB  But as far as weapon choices, sometimes the weapon taken along in out gold matches are only to augment the damage output from powers / grenades / abilities.  Plenty of play styles.

Juice Tin:  Hmm, extra Harriers?  Is there such a thing? Image IPB

Variasaber:  Human or Turian Sentinel.  I have rocked with them once in a while Image IPB

MintyTadpole:  Jimmy Hoffa.  As soon as you find him, let me know.  I could use one too Image IPB

ParanoidDrone:  One of the most annoying bugs we experienced was where you would lose any ability to reload your weapon if you performed a custom action the same time you tried to pick up ammo at a crate.  Another one was when you'd lose any targetting capability after dying and being revived.  You couldn't select anything including fallen comrades or objectives.  There were many, many others but those really stand out in my mind. Image IPB

PaperAlien:  More ammo consumables...well, let's just say we... [this block removed for NDA purposes] ...and that's why pigs don't fly today.  I hope that clears it up Image IPB

Jason Ralph:  Some gameplay types are enormous undertakings and would require a huge number of resources.  Some moreso than others, of course. Unfortunately, that's all I can really say here.

Thanks for the interroga...questions / responses Image IPB
