So I have experienced the EC all four versions now. I think this would have sufficed and even though it has infamous type comic explanations at the end it does offer a lot of what I was wondering about. That being said it still did not address the gripe of Casey Hudsons statements, That all of our choices would matter and play out in the final conflict. When in fact each choice was nullified by a plot twist in the next game.
Example: Saved the council? Well Limited interaction with them in the second and Anderson. Killed the council. Insert new counsel.
Saved the Rachni Queen? Well you have to do it again. Maybe you killed the Rachni Queen? Insert generic monster for mission.
Anderson on the Council? Well He quits and appoints the guy you didn't want to do the job. No impact on it being a good or bad decision.
The collector base? Something that could be the greatest asset or the greatest achillies heal for the war with the reapers. Only mentioned with the Illusive man recovering the human reaper. Whether or not it is around has no consequence or impact on the ending. Choice nullified and not even touched on...
You rewrote the Geth Heratics? Well they simply reject it. Or the Quarians attack sending the Geth a once told unstopable force is almost wiped out by the quarian fleet in the initial attack until reapers help.
That being said What I thought I was doing in ME2 which was allowing the Galaxy to be at its strongest had no effect on ME3. That didn't even have to be part of the ending, it just didn't matter in ME3
So every plot twist in the previous games had no effect on the next, or if it did, it wasn't potrayed in a manner that came close to showing the impact of your decisions.
The Extended cut is sufficient, but we were still lied too, mislead, whatever label we would like to place on it. The alternative four endings we have now are vastly different, but again, a lot done with infamous style concept art (Probably because of 2 gig limit another user has addressed). Not really a complaint, but just something I noticed and seemed like an easy out to all that CGI.
That being said I am sure truth DLC will be a hit! as the Control ending more or less proves it.
As for the ABC ending. Well its an ABCD ending now. But far better! and again, not a complaint but that statement, "I won't be able to say what ending I picked." Well I can say I picked the destroy ending. Shepard Lives and things are rebuilt seeing the Normandy up and running was like a twizzlers it made mouths happy. I seriously smiled.
Telling the kid to go screw was nice and the voice he made sounded like Harbinger more proof to the Truth ending DLC. (Pray to god this is the case as it would be a great DLC)
So what is the point of this thread? The endings that were given were not up to par originally. This EC helped answer a lot of questions, but still did not address major marketing problems and redeem Casey Hudsons marketing campaign which became more of an issue than the actual endings. For that BioWare has lost my trust and will no longer be on the top of my preorder list. I might still buy the games used but thats it. Asking you to live up to your claims is not entitled. It's Business, and as a consumer expect claims to be delivered on.
the fact all the claims made above were made by the company rep Casey Hudson and then we were told. "You can't expect 141 different endings" from a Pax east interview. After we were only expecting a possibility of 16 that was fed to us by Casey Hudson. We simply were asking what was offered to us. If that makes us entitled, you're going to find that concept is going to bite you in the rear as far as future sales go. BW you need to address how your fans were treated, and even get on companies like IGN for doing so, whether you agree with them or not. Its simply good business to stick up for the people who are going to be honest with you.
to get me out of the used market and to get those pre orders back. I would need to see this done and done correctly. There's always that broader audience though! The ones who won't buy games that take a chance. ME was once one of those.
I compell all a part of this Retake movement not to feel like mission is accomplished. We now have save point and should be just as active as before in ensuring these companies are held accountable. Avoid IGN or companies who reps appear in the games and then give rave reviews before even finishing or starting it for that matter (Refer to IGN threads and responses made by Jessica Chobot). EA games will probably be avoided and I will never pay a dime to a micro transaction. Your DLC will be reviewed first before buying, and reviewed by actual gamers, and not the "75 perfect score" companies.
So the Verdict here is BW you put yourselves in a redeemable position by the extended cut I thought it was a great gesture. But my trust, faith, and loyalty have been lost as far as the PR handling is concerned. Companies like IGN and official statements from EA that poked at your core fanbase and dismissed them as a minority. Well, I would at least expected some type of address about your feeling about what others said about the people who love your games. Something that can explain, how you can offer something to people and then act confused when they take BioWare up on their offers.
That is all!
