So the pro-ending crowd scoffs that retake just wants a happy ending... then doesn't bat an eye when Synthesis produces an unambiguously utopian society where everyone lives alongside their friends and family, whom were turned into husks doing the Reaper war.

Maybe there is a guy in a shed playing a computer game with his mate who is now a husk.
You know like in shaun of the dead.

So what happens to the husks and other "reaperized" forces?

They have no targets left, so they just fall apart or something

Okay.  Just checked the codex.  Sounds like they'll just die off.

Yeah rape on a galactic scale and allowing the worse mass murderers in the history of the galaxy go free always makes me cry too.

No, no, no!  You see, the magic wand has been waved!  The Reapers are all good guys now.

here is the truth of synthesis:

GI Joe called it in the 80s.

FOR MAKING ME CRY LIKE A LITTLE BABY :crying:

The Extended Cut DLC is briliant !
I chose Synthesis again and it was so touching so perfect so GLORIOUS I can't even begin to describe it. I am lost for words, EDI's sad face when she hugged Liara, Reapers helping rebuild all the worlds, the Krogan, seeing unmasked Quarians ETC. ETC. ETC. EVERYTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THE EXTENDED CUT

p.s. Moderators, would you be so kind and tell the BioWare team that I really appreciate all the work they have done and that I love them from the bottom of my heart ?
Again, BioWare, you are my champions <3:kissing:

I agree 200%! I thought the EC was gonna be just a polish on an already fine ending, but it turned out to be something even better than that. Everything about it, the content, the added dialogue with the Catalyst, etc. set the framework for an even better ending. The new scenes were also a tear-jerker, but what really set it was the music near the end (a reprise of The End from ME1's OST) and the Normandy taking off to explore new worlds, a new ME1-like start, rekindling the love I had for the beginning of the franchise.

The people who want a happy ending want one that is explicit in showing their Shepard living with their LI. And there are a lot of people who want that and they see that as more a happy ending than a utopian society where their Shepard is dead.

Now you got me excited!
The EC may not make my Shepard cry, since she will die anyway, but seeing my crew mates feel grief is the next best thing!

And reapers rebuilding the worlds? Interesting! Now I just have to wait for my download to finish...

Shepard was with his/her love interest for long enough, time to give someone else a chance

I love the Synthesis ending as it stands now. Control and Synthesis seemed like traps without the EC explanations. Also, it has QUARIAN FACE.

I originally chose Synthesis the first time I played ME3, because I couldn't bear to wipe out the geth after all I had accomplished with their help and I couldn't kill off EDI.
The Extended cut made me realise what a load of bollocks it would be to 'synthesise' with synthetics. Geth intelligence/hive mind and immortality. At what cost? Shepard died.
Anderson died. The starchild said that it couldn't be forced upon organics, then how the hay did it work?

Also, while bittersweet because you can cause peace between Geth and Quarians, Joker loosing EDI for good, I still think Destroy was the better end.

Control seemed very much in-character with Shepard, wanting to save everyone. Especially for a War Hero paragon shep. 'tis funny how Hackett specifically said he didn't want another Elysium xD

That made me both squee and WTF, because Tali still wore her mask on the Normandy :P

The synthesis ending used to be the worst ending because of all the questions it left hanging (like are we all harmogenised) But in the extended cut they actually give a proper description and details synthetics gain actual emotions and everyone gets instant communication, that this will enevitably lead to universal peace through mutual understanding is essentially a useful side effect. I tried out control as well but that just gives shepherd a god complex. Synthesis is definitly the ultimate ending now.

There is no doubt Synthesis is presented as the most noble and positive ending. Shepard becomes a space Jesus and thanks to his/her sacrifice the galaxy begins an era of eternal love and prosperity. Yet the problem remains that synthesis involves such amounts of Space Magic that it is just unbearable for me in the sci-fi game. At least basis of destroy and control are on the level that can be explained using general rulesets of Mass Effect lore. Synthesis? What? How? Why? No matter how good consequences this ending brings it simply does not make sense.

At first, I thought destroying the reapers was the best choice because the synthesis decision was a bit vague but...man was that synthesis ending sad.

Doesn't all the species in the galaxy working together to the point where the crucible was finished and the reapers were finally threatened prove that organics were ready for synthesis? I don't think they meant it can't be forced in the individual sense, but rather a species has to prove they are ready for it. At least that was how I took it.

I demand they patch the ending again to give us Tali Face on the Normandy.

Well written. Indeed.. That's also why it is impossible for me to believe and choose that crappy option.

Synthesis may have the best end result....but it is still the most offensive when considering the theme.

If in WWII, Adolf Hitler had a chance to hit a button (or choose a colored door), and make everyone in the world a perfect Aryan...it would have achieved worldwide peace the likes of which we've never seen.

But it is rightly still a patently offensive thought.

It means the writers believe that peace is impossible with diversity.  That all must be the same in order to coexist.  I find the mere thought of peace at such a cost repugnant.

I hate hate hate synthesis. The entire concept is nonsense, you may as well have Shepard defeat the reapers with an army of flying monkeys, makes just as much sense and it would be much funner to watch.

My thoughts exactly pre EC, but it got such a great makover tho it prob is the best ending, the plaque scene....GOD DAMMIT i LOVED that part, makes your sacrifice SOOOOO worth it

Synthesis was always their love child. You know despite raping the entire Universe into becoming cyborgs without their consent and becoming the Reapers little toy. Instead they made it out to be the ultimate ending when really it isn't.

Synthesis would have been incredibly dumb even in Deus Ex, which actually has an underlying theme of transhumanism. We're lucky that it's impossible to implement in the inevitable sequel, so they will have to default to Destroy.

Not only that, but Synthesis 2.0 terrified me when I watched it on YouTube.  Creepiest.  Ending.  Ever.

-_- Once again Synthesis-haters are too stubborn to even look at the potential benefits, they can only look at the negative aspects. 'It MUST be bad because I say so!'

And pro-synthites make up stuff because it MUST be the best thing ever. Who cares, it's nonsense.

I'm pretty sure that everyone saying BW was OBVIOUSLY pushing the synthesis ending is making stuff up. Because they haven't ever said that. Ever.

However I have to identify myself as a rabid pro-synthite because I loved the new synthesis ending so much that I am incapable of choosing any other.

*Shrugs* To each their own.
