Key perks over the others:

>Galaxy goes through impossible to imagine techniological leap in science

>Instant communication across the galaxy

>Indestructible guardians of organic life

>Tali's (partial) face!

>Everyone's eyes glow an amazing shade of green

>Edi has feelings

>You go out a damn hero bigger than anyone ever imagined

>????

So much profeit from sysnthesis. This is why we needed the EC, Bioware. We had no idea this is what you meant by synthesis. It's Awesome!

Also LOLOLOLOLOL at godchild "SO BE IT" line. That has to be Bioware's way of saying "You asked for another ending..."

Only problem I have with synthesis is that it's still space magic and thus still makes no sense. Spacekid's elaboration on what it is makes no sense at all. "The essence of who and what I am will be sent out". Really now? And what, pray tell, is that essence exactly? Because it sounds like hocus pocus to me.

From a philosophical point of view the writers of this franchise keep treating organic life as inherently mystical. We're not. We're very easy to explain through sheer materialism alone. Humans have no such thing as an "essence of who and what they are." That's what 15th century clerics believed. They thought we had some sort of divine spark. We left that idea behind a long, long time ago.

When I jump into an intergalactic laserbeam, the only thing that's gonna happen is a lot of charred flesh.

The way that husk went after that man, I simply assumed the essence was a little intimate.

EDI had feelings before.

That makes no sense how? Radiation changes your DNA easily. Sure it's a stretch but I really think that you confuse SPACE MAGIC and SCIENCE FICTION too much.

Synthesis bothered me the most actually.. every scene creeped me out. it was a future of "everything is half robot and working in perfect harmony with each other".

Destroy and reject were the best endings. Control had a sense of impending doom in the future to it.

Eh, I still know too much science to not throw up in my mouth a bit when I think about what is supposed to be happening, and how utterly retarded it is, and the fundamental message that peace between different races is impossible, and the only way to have lasting peace is forced uniformity and to make everyone physically the same utterly abhorrent. Especially as the entire reason it's supposed to be necasary is proved wrong repeatedly in canon.

But yeah, as long as you don't mind helping Space Hitler create a master race, and don't care about realistic SCIENCE fiction, or logic or reason, then it's all rainbows and Krogan cakes.

I'm not at all upset over the concept of "Space Magic" Not given all the other forms of space magic in the trilogy that everyone conveniently overlooks.

Radiation changes my DNA, but explain how a change of my DNA through radiation that I'm subjected to somehow affects anyone else that is not a direct descendant of mine?

Moreover, how exactly does radiation turn "the matrices of organic life" as the spacekid says into something synthetic. It makes no damn sense.

I'm fine with fiction, but if you claim to write science fiction the science part is the operative term. Otherwise it's just fantasy. Which is fine too, but you don't suddenly decide to switch genres at the last possible minute.

Synthesis just doesn't gel properly with the science of the Mass Effect universe we've come to know, and the fact that the Star Child explains it in quasi-magical terms doesn't help matters.

True. Technically it's a space magic beam. :P

EDI was already alive, hence the backlash behind Destroy's little caveat.

It's the joke ending. That's all I can consider it as.

Oh, yeah, actually. Here is synthesis's second prime offense:

"I AM ALIVE."

You were alive before, EDI. Having absorbed someone's magical "essence of who and what they are" doesn't somehow make you more alive. I needed no further convincing that you lived the moment Joker unshackled you in ME2.

Does that matter though? EDI knows what it means to be alive now. She never had emotions before or was able to other things us organic types love to do like cry when we are told NO.

Were talking about a game that features faster than light travel and your bothered by the fact that there is a second thing that isnt physically possible?

The synthasis ending was also my favorite. I like all the new ones really although destroy is a little sad when you think that all the geth and edi would be killed.

No offense, but this is just amazingly stupid.

I can see why you don't get how totally impossible synthesis is just from these two sentences.

If you like the green space magic ending, then great, but please, never try to justify it to others ever again again.

EDI was alive without space magic already, it was one of the major themes of the series. A soul? Sure here you go, alakazam.
