I'm a level 12 rogue and killing anything seems like a huge task.  I don't die often or anything but it seems like my rogue is useless in combat.  The abilities in for duel wielding don't feel like they add to anything in combat (tactically I mean)except for the sweeking strike ability (the one that hits multiple opponents)).

I guess I'm just disappointed with how this class ended up.  I'm so used to D&D type classes that compared with this it feels really weak. I used to be able to sneak around and just sneak attack the an enemy to death.  But in this you can't.  So, I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to make the rogue a more effecient killer.   I have expert poison making, improved tactcs, and expert combat training.  Sorry if those aren't the exact names I don't have good memory.  I also have tier 5 daggers with 2 enchantments on both.  I believe it's a +1 of electricity and +1 cold damage for each weapon.  I even have "Coup De Gra" ability.

Nope

They have the highest single target dps in the game. My dual dagger rogue assassin/duelist is a monster.

My dw rogue is also quite good. What are your stats? Why can't you sneak and backstab/

They get much better around level 15 or so. Maybe a bit earlier. My rogue playthrough was just as you described and then I got momentum and suddenly I could pretty much solo the game. Just stick with it.

My second run is with a rogue and I find that a rogue's base abilities are superior to the specialized trees. My toon is an archer and I only picked up the first three and then maxed out to the Slayer talent. All my other points go into lockpicking and damage dealing. The end result is that I seem to do more damage than a lot of the other party members. So my answer would be? only max out the top passive dual wielding talents and maybe the middle one but the rest put into the top too rogue backstabiness.

I I can sneak and backstab but killing a single target seems to take forever.  I"m busting out 20+'s on white colored enemies for backstabs.  They die quick but not asassination quick, like my experiences in D&D.  For regular attacks it's around 15-18.  It's seems a lot but against yellow's and red's it's like, what's the point of attacking ( I get like 1's and 2's dmg).

m stats are low 20's for strength

32 dex
24 cunning
22 const

K. Thanks.  I mean I'm not having trouble I'm not feeling the 'killing machine" in it.

I love rogues in DA, I started with one and after that, couldn't really get into any of the other classes anymore and ended up with a bunch of rogue characters. Mages are of course more powerful, but less fun to play, and I found tanks to be utterly boring.

The rogue is not an "I win" button like it could be for some D&D games (fighter/thief was absurdly powerful in the BG series second only to the ranger/cleric perhaps) but I can hardly bring myself to choose a non-rogue for DA:O since the class is so versatile and useful.

So you think using long range weapons is better suited for this type of class?

Great! That might be what I needed to be more efficient.

@OP: Are you kidding? Rogues are totally devastating. My biggest regret was making my first PC a warrior. Warriors are not all that good at fighting. They're only good as a meat shield, IMO, and I would happily try a game without using a single warrior except where Alistair is obligatory, but a Rogue is basically a prerequisite of survival. Want to win fights? Have a dual-dagger rogue in your party, somewhere.

Rogues are indeed devastating and I find I enjoy playing them a lot more than warriors. Though my favorite is still the mage.

I don't expect the rogue to be an "I win" class.  I expect it to be efficient.

Hmmm, I guess I'm just not feeling their power as I did in other D&D type games.

Stealth plus Traps = pure win. Once had a yellow ranked monster down to a little under half health by the time my group reached him to kill him. I put a bunch of traps down that trapped him and caused damage, and he was completly out of the fight while we killed all of his lackeys.

I love using Zevran in my party: he is now a level 14 and offers devastation. Biggest issue is getting him behind the enemy in the kill zone. I also love traps. Once I scout out the enemy via stealth, landing a few traps...using my mage to then toss in paralysis and turning the highest level mob to stone. It's a quick fight.

Using dual wielding daggers is key (avoid swords).
