I just got a FHI card in a SP.
Is that to be expected?
Does this change only apply to rare character classes?

My idea is that we should get a one-day chance to trade our N7 points for a thousand credits per point. It wouldn't be perfect (I know some folks refused to promote at all, and though I ended up promoting a lot, like most I still got millions of XP that didn't count) but it would be something. I would certanly enjoy stocking up on the level IV ammo and getting a few ultra-rares in exchange for my N7 points.WaffleCrab wrote...
How about some compensation to those who blew countless of millions of credits to the packs and got jack ****, or those who spent 3000 something bw points and got jack ****.

Garbage... utter garbage....To this end, we’ve removed Character kit cards as rare drops after all appearance options have been unlocked and we’ll be introducing a new powerful Rare Ammo type that will drop when you’ve maxed out your kits.
Now... instead of getting a useful XP boost to a promoted character class I can get a rare comsumable...
<sarcasm>Let's just make it even harder for those of us who like to promote... FANTASTIC! </sarcasm>
Would it have really been so hard to leave the character cards in and replace them with the new rare consumables if the randomly selected class was maxed out at level 20? You know... kinda like how the packs won't give you Clips/Ops/Medigel/Missiles if they are already at 255...
That way everybody wins!
I see everyone excited about this, and why am I not excited? I have all rare wepons to level 10 (not ultra rares) and I only get freaking character cards, and that helped me to Level up and promote a lot. Until now, now I got to get my characters to level 20 and just play for level 4 one use upgrades that arent specific about how much they improve your stuff...
Yeah, I am not happy about this...
so you have to actually play different races/classes to level them up.... you poor thing you

Another way of saying it is, is it possible to get the new ammo when I have not maxed out all of the characters? I would really hate to get a PSP and only get this new ammo.

- new level IV ammo
- common and uncommon character cards (already maxed)
- non-maxed gold character cards (no maxed duplicates received)
- a bunch of Gear
- no duplicate consumables once 255
It felt like gear drops were much more frequent, and the consumables didn't overfill - once my missiles filled to 255, then I only got medi gel. My Ops Packs and Clips were already 255.
Just confirming / noting the store this morning.

But why don't you use ammo mods? They're awesome!kevchy wrote...
I do not like this. Its now very hard to promote characters, but whatever, I'll deal with it. I don't use ammo mods, so it doesn't change a thing for me.
As for being hard to promote characters, not really. A well-equipped level 1 character can contribute significantly to at least silver matches, requiring just a little more care in terms of using cover and staying close to a teammate; after not more than two matches such a character would be ready - though obviously not optimized - for gold, and after that (I don't know the numbers off the top of my head) it's probably only 2-4 games to 20.
If it could be done without taking the assets from the single-player game (or perhaps offering the option since some folks wouldn't mind them being removed for roleplaying reasons), I'd even advocate a reset of N7 scores at this point. They might mean a little more if players had to work for every XP.
ETA: Accompanying the reset, maybe add a frequent back-door spawn to FBWGG.
I think I just miss jumping from lvl 1 to 16 after a few PSPs. :whistle:Haha, but I'm not too bothered by the changes.
As for the new ammo types.....meh, I'm not a fan of perishables in the first place, since I can lose em if I have a bad connection.
haha I just promoted all my characters last night and burnt thru my 3mil credit WITH NO N7 WHATSOEVER but did
get all of them back up to level 18ish
cant tell if its good or not but what are the new drops really? not too fond of consumable mods is it all that is?

With an N7 rating approaching 7,500, I played multiplayer to promote. I was playing a game of Gold a few minutes ago and asked myself, "Why bother?" I helped our team make it to extraction, but I can't imagine playing as much as I have been. Other than medigels and cobra missiles, I rarely use ANY of the consumables. When I would get an ultra-rare weapon upgrade, I would be slightly disappointed that I wasn't able to level up a character. I guess only those that promote understand that feeling.
In other words, thank you to those that constantly whined about character cards and got them removed from reinforcement packs for those that promote. Now, instead, you can watch those unused ammo packs pile up in your manifest and begin complaining about that.
I disagree. The meaning of XP is, that you get them for the stuff you do ingame and are a display of your progress you make by playing the game, that's what every RPG is about - your character gets better by playing and using his skills. You don't do that by buying a PSP. It gives you XP for free without you having to work for it. Apart from the credits, but you don't even have to do that - you could just buy your way up with real money! Where's the challenge and sign of progression in that? Would you like to have someone else overtake you on the leaderboard just because he spends real money: Pay to progress? No, that's just not RPG in any way. Now, you actually have to earn the N7 levels. Not that they are any indication of skill (played with an N7 of 7k not long ago who didn't know how to play infiltrator, didn't cloak before shooting or using powers. It was really sad)
Just to be clear, I, too have an N7 ranking from the top 20 of the PC leaderbords and 15k war assets solely through promoting (so, I can't see the "bad ending" even if I wanted to

What is unclear to me is this: When I get my Krogan Sentinel maxed out does he get replaced with a Ammo type in the random generator or do I only get the Ammo type when ALL of the Character cards are maxed out?

1. New player starts, all rares are in the pool.
2. Player maxes a rare character (all appearance customization unlocked), that rare character card is no longer in the pool, just like a rank X weapon.
3. Player maxes all rare characters, obviously no rare character cards will appear.
4. Player maxes all rares, rank IV ammo begins appearing in rare card slots.
5. Ultra-rares presumably continue appearing at the same rate.

Hello everyone! I'm delivering this message to you on behalf of Senior Producer Jonathan Warner...Mass Effect 3’s Multiplayer has been an interesting journey
for BioWare. Over the last few months, we’ve been watching player behavior,
talking to our players on the forums and in the game lobbies, and playing the
hell out of the game at home. Based on all of that, we’ve been trying to make
adjustments to the game within our post-ship limitations, our capacity for
development and testing, and our ability to patch or update.
We want you to know that we’ve been listening. We’ve heard
your feedback about character unlocks and training in the Reinforcement Packs,
and we’re poised to make some great changes in these areas. Specifically, we
want you to get new content faster and have a satisfying replacement drop once
you have all of the new kits. To this end, we’ve removed
Character kit cards as rare drops after all appearance options have been
unlocked and we’ll be introducing a new powerful Rare Ammo type that will drop
when you’ve maxed out your kits.
We hope you enjoy these changes, and we look forward to
seeing you in game!
EDIT: This is going live tonight
It's great and all, but seriously... all you get is ammo and armour cards now. To me, that's not worth spending 60,000 credits for a Spectre Pack and 99,000 credits for a Prem Spectre Pack. That's just a waste of credits when all you get is ammo and armour cards now lol. Seriously? Now its going to be harder to get weapons and weapon upgrades because of people complaining in this game. Well guess what, now I'm complaining because this is just retarded spending all these credits for ammo and armour upgrades. How about you reduce the credits to buying Spectre and Premium Spectre Packs if all I'm going to get is ammo and armour upgrades.

Since today. As far as I can tell, all the rank III consumables are now coming up uncommon. Given I don't remember seeing one in a recruit pack and they appeared at a lower rate in JEPs, I suspect this is just making official what was already fact.spudspot wrote...
Another question: since when are Cryo Rounds III uncommon?

She said the rare ammo drops are after you max out the kits. How does this make it harder to get weapons and weapon upgrades?? You get them just as likely as before!

If they were going to get rid of rare character cards (for those that had already maxed them out), they needed to introduce some new rare stuff to keep the RNG in check. If not everyone (who had all rare weapons and rare characters maxed) would just be unlocking ultra rare weapons, since there would be nothing else to unlock.
Well played.
