This is a giant step up, especially for people who don't typically promote. Usable items (and good ones, at that) are infinitely better than repeat character cards. I must say, though, that the drop rate for Ultra-Rare weapons and gear are a bit too low. I spent ~7.5m credits on Wednesday after these changes, which is about 100 games worth, and I received slightly more than 1 of each ultra-rare weapon (some were upgraded 2 levels, but not many). I also received roughly the same number of gear cards. I think after playing 100 gold games, players should be rewarded with a bit more than this, especially those who have already maxed weapons.

With the rate that new DLC is being released, I think increasing (nearly doubling) the drop rate for these items will help mitigate loss of interest without needing to worry about people maxing all of their kits. As it is right now, obtaining level X ultra-rare weapons and level V gear is impossible for most players, and I've wondered myself if/when I'll burn out because maxing out everything is a goal that is practically unobtainable. Obviously I don't have the player statistics to look at like you guys do, but from my point of view (a player who thinks he plays too much), I think the rewards need to be coming in a bit faster.

TL,DR: Great change. On the right track. I look forward to future developments.

As far as I can see this is only an improvement if you already have all your gold characters and weapons fully upgraded. Now the ammo upgrades take up silver/ gold card slots (before they were all blue with the level being dictated by the packs...) it reduces the chances of getting weapon or gear upgrades or weapon mods in a pack. This seems to be especially the case for uncommons. Despite still needing 20 uncommon weapon mods and 15 uncommon gear, I keep getting level 3 consumables in the uncommon slots of PSPs..

That sucks, no more character cards. Its not a joke I'm serious. I liked the character cards to level up when I promoted everyone. It was nice.

If you want character cards for leveling up, then buy the cheap recruit packs!
You will level up EVEN FASTER than before!

Because you still get the blue common human cards and they now give you 62500XP each, which means instead of paying 60,000 for a Spectre Pack and getting 1 gold CC with 250,000XP, now for the same money you buy 12 Recruit packs giving you 12 x 62,500XP = 750,000XP, so 3x as much!

Well actually I got 2 gold character cards in my premium spectre packs, so 500.000 xp for 99.000 credits. And the recruit packs not always give you 62.000 xp, but also 12.500 xp cards. At least that's what I thought I noticed last couple of times...

I absolutely hate the changes. I normally promote all players, buy prem packs and be able to continue my gold run with a fairly decent leveled character. Now i can't do that.. Now i get sucky ammo every pack. Everything bioware does this game SUCKS!

i think one of the best idea's is just add a Character card pack to the store.
much like the reason why jumbo equipment packs were gave to us as an option.

I miss 28 pieces of uncommon gear, I bought only veteran packs and 1 specter pack from the change and did not get a single piece, while beore the change I had a ratio of 3 pieces of gear every 5 packs.
In the specter I found medigels + 4 consumables, 3 level III and 1 level IV
This is crap, and I still have to unlock the Vorcha Soldier.
Also, from 1 month I didn't get a single N7 in PSPs.

Same here. I'm trying to max out my uncommon weapons, but i got just level III consumables in veteran packs, and that's frustrating. (domani prendiamo a calci in culo la Spagna!!!)

So...do you really hate playing the characters from level 1 to 20 over and over? Do you not see this then as a clue that something else is wrong, even if the symptoms are something else? But to be fair, the next poster had a great idea, and I think his idea would also take care of special events where not everyone was able to participate (operation Savage):

This would be a viable option to please even the unpleasable. A similar option would be that character cards have one other requirement before they disappear: That when any class is not yet level 20, character cards continue to spawn for that class.

FYI, I'm very pleased with BW's current setup, I'd rather have ammo and consumables. I can see however that it would be big brownie points in BW's favor to make adjustments, despite my feeling that they just pleased far more people than they annoyed. Like the Krogan's having a chance to improve the galaxy's view of them, this is a rare opportunity for BW to show extraordinary compassion for their followers. Add to this that if some day N7 rating actually has a meaning to it, then the mechanics of this would also be useful.

The only way it could have been a slight bit more rational is if they stopped giving you the character cards if your appearance is maxed AND your class level is 20.

But I personally don't mind this change, as I don't promote, only for events.

That might be the case. I have my Human Infiltrators' appearance completed, both male and female, and I still got a card from a Veteran Pack.

Just yesterday I got (in spectre pack) a human female soldier. I've had that fully unlocked for a VERY long time. Seems like a bug, but my soldier class is not currently level 20, so I guess it is ok. Just goes to show though, there are still bugs in the system not doing what the designers intended.

The common-level character cards still drop from Recruit packs, and less-frequently in the other packs in place of ammunition.

I'm getting common-level character cards in PSP when the race has all appearances unlocked and at lv20. Is this a bug or intended?

The only chatacter card that don't unlock anymore after all appearance options are unlocked are the gold level characters. You can still get the blue and silver characters I believe.

I've had all characters unlocked for quite some time. Today I have had both the female human soldier and the female human engineer cards. The soldier card was from a spectre pack, the engineer from a premium spectre pack. So is this expected or a bug? Human soldier and engineer are not rare at all.

As I already said...You don't make this kind of change to the game...You add more packages, more buying options at the store, so people will do whatever they want with their credits. Why not unlocking weapons and characters based on n7 or xp ranking ? xp ranking is much more fair, if you ask me. Another thing ridiculous about this game: no trading system. So I have a lot of items I will never use, and I can't trade them with my companions, or even sell them. Now this would be a good change. More options...The multiplayer need a lot of refinement, you can be sure of that.

You still get uncommon and common character cards as far as I'm aware, but the 2 rare slots in PSP are a garunteed level 4 consumable. At least in my experience.

One thing I suggested in the past...which is less relevant now with the character card changes...is to add the actual shops from single player (minus fish I think). Let people for example shop at Aegor Munitions. Maybe in the long run this might still be a viable option. They could even do something like unlock shops based on N7 rank if they really wanted it to mean something. That way, with character cards down, you'd have to actually play to access specialty shops. It'd be an all around win. FYI, I probably wouldn't bother with the shops, none of them sold specific ammo types, and if I really wanted something, it'd be to specifically buy ammo types.

No.......

Blue char cards now consist of the 12,500 and 62,500 cards. More often than not, you get the 12,500 . Buying Recruits might now be more efficient than one 250,000 from a 60000 credit pack, but it's worse than PSPs, which had 500000 xp worth if you had everything maxed.
