Got a Level IV consumable in my PSP even though I am FAR from maxing out character appearances and don't even have 4 of the earth character unlocked.

What the hell. This system is absolute garbage.

I think it gives you one of those if you have a particular type of rare maxed out (gear, weapons, characters).  If only your characters are maxed out, the RNG likely tried to give you a rare gun and saw you were maxed so gave ammo instead.  Unfortunately, it happened twice in a row for me yesterday.

The reason the system works the way it does is to keep us playing as much as possible and make more money. If we got everything we asked for, we wouldn't play as much. Asking the casino head to change the odds so it takes less money to win is uh. . .a request that will fall on deaf ears.

ok, here we go again. I maxed new rare weapons, new characters and got a couple of Ultra-rares along with a bit of gear. there's plenty of gear and ultra-rares to unlock, but NO. Several PSP in a row I'm getting lvl IV ammo. This is beyond ridiculous, Bioware. Are you willing to fix this or not? If you are perfectly content with this system i'll just stop playing mp altogether

Honestly, getting ammo when you put in a platinum run or a couple of gold runs is irritating. I know its deterred some of my friends to quit playing all together. I think one or two days a month they should offer a N7 pack that has rare/ ultra rare weapons, characters, reusable gear packs, without any chance for ammo or consumables to drop. I think it would be rewarding for characters that put in a lot of time in multiplayer and help out players that dont have much luck from the RNG.

Can someone confirm this for me?

Character Pack Changes
- Removed character kit cards as rare drops after all appearance options have
been unlocked and we've introduced new powerful Rare Ammo types that will
drop when you've maxed out your kits.
See more details here.

I've yet to unlock the N7 Shadow and Demolisher yet I'm getting rare ammo types. According to this shouldn't I be getting those guys unlocked first?

As far as I knows its not entirely true. You do get the rare ammo but the character cards still come in SP and PSPs. I got the Human Sentenial again in a SP. I have all the characters maxed and have been maxed for quite a while with acception of the N7s.

all it says is you will NO LONGER get rare character cards once you have each appearance option unlocked for that character. It doesnt mean you wont get lvl IV drops just cus you still have more characters to get. It usually took about 5-7 million credits to max all rare cards from each dlc, so keep grinding, youll get em

Which is really odd because you would expect to get repeat rare character cards instead of common character cards out of PSPs.

I would rather get the XP from a CC than end up hoarding level 4 ammo types. Whats a guy gotta do to get an ultra rare weapon upgrade?

 NO NO NO!!  I will try and do my best to hold my tongue here.  LISTEN WELL...I spent 4 million credits and all i've been getting are those stupid consumable LVL IV's!  Why did you have to replace them with anything?  Why didn't you just be honest and say, "We at Bioware are going to make it near impossible for you guys to get rare gear and UR's by replacing one useless rare with a next to useless rare."  I spent 1.2 million credits last night, so in total, i've spent my last 5.2 million creds and do you know how many UR's i got?  ONE!!  I'm saying this for your best interests, put those stupid LVL IV consumables in a different pack altogether and give us a damn break or you will lose your most loyal fanbase.

I also keep getting consumabels and i havent even unlocked all the new classes yet. Please bioware im sooo tired of these packs.

I'm really tired of spending millions of credits on premium specter packs and only getting ammo powers. I hardly use them. Every five premiums I buy, I might get one gear upgrade, and for every thirty packs I get I MIGHT get an ultra-rare weapon. I'm not even getting many medi-gels or missiles I could use, just all thermal clips and bonus equipment.

Honestly, I'm not motivated to buy packs that often anymore, unless another multiplayer DLC comes around. I wouldn't think of wasting MS points on premiums if all we're going to get are just ammo consumables. I'd like to eventually level up my Harrier and unlock the rest of my Gear bonuses...

I despise these changes, especially Level III consumables being my Uncommon drop. Why did they take out Uncommon CCs?

You're not the only one. There's a big problem with the drop rates of gears, considering that BW classified them as uncommon or rare. The uncommon ones elude me even more than the rares. It would be nice if gears took precedence over level IV consumables, or if you typically got one upgrade in every PSP once you have everything else (except for ultra rare weapons) maxed.

I don't see an issue with the drop rate of ultra rares; BioWare is simply rewarding hardcore players, and if you are one of them then you have to deal with level IV consumables until your next ultra rare unlock. That's fine. But there is a problem in that in many cases rare weapons outperform their ultra rare counterparts. For example, there's no way I'd pick the Wraith, Javelin, Particle Rifle, or Indra over other same-class weapons (ok, maybe the Indra can compete with the Widow now, but it doesn't compare to the Black Widow or Valiant).

P.S. - Why is there no ultra rare smg, and why is the Wraith the only ultra rare shotgun? I'm not counting promos.

Replacing ultra rare character cards/weapons that you have maxed out with a IV consumable is incredibly lame. I think BioWare is afraid that people will stop playing once they lack something to grind. My answer to that is introduce more content, and honestly, it doesnt have to be a death match, but some sort of PVP content would really help. Even if it was a race to the finish type game where you both have to secure a number of checkpoints first to win.

Deathmatch could work but you would have to inflate player hitpoints.

I love how they unstickied the post without addressing the community's issues with the changes.

Earth DLC Gear (So-called "Uncommon" and "Rare") drops less at least ten times less frequently than UR weapons. 28 million credits spent after installing the Earth DLC and I have maxed all of my UR weapons to X, yet am missing 31 Earth DLC Gear drops. Two of them (one so-called "Uncommon", one so-called "Rare") haven't even unlocked yet.

I have six million credits saved up to spend once Bioware addresses the situation. Or maybe I'll just wait until the next MP DLC so I feel like I'm getting at least something for my credits.

Why hasn't this been addressed? By anyone? Hello? Bueller?

I've seen some player's manefest today, where they had all level X ultra-rares but still missing a bunch of gear bonuses. Also, they didn't have a mountain of level III and IV ammo stuff, but oddly they did have 255 level I ammo powers. O.o How they managed to get lucky with all the ultra-rares, I have no idea.

I was wondering why there was no ultra-rare SMG too.

I feel your pain. 3-4 million credits later and I unlocked 2 earth charatcers and got the paladin from the weekend event. Haven't got any new gear in a few weeks and still get common characters (in my fn PSP). 

Plus side: rares and ultras are leveling up.

And here we are, a month removed from this original change "for the better"...

How did we ever believe that BioWare would improve the game? Instead, we got lvl IV temporary ammo powers. Trash. Garbage. Junk. We got trolled. We got trolled HARD.

You LEARNED? What kind of crap is that? Introducing these "new" lvl IV temp ammo powers isn't learning. It's pissing all over your player base. That doesn't make us happy; that makes us irritated. Frustrated. Dejected. At a loss for words.

We trusted you. And you chose to spit our faces.

lol people are hard to please, people complained non stop about CC, bioware removed them and added rare consumables, with would have been FINE if said consumables where BETTER... (+10% really?) however the thing that screwed us all was the change of level 3 consumables from common to uncommon, that is why gear drops are rarer than Ultra Rare drops, because every time the game wants to award us with something nicer than common crap, you get a level 3 consumable instead of a nice shinny gear...
