After beating the game with 4 different origins, i thought it might
be time to try the Arcane warrior with either BM or SH as second spec.
But i cannot find any thread which describes how to play the char
solo up until lvl7 where you'd first get to pick spec, and thus, i would
be quiet squishy up until lvl7.

So...  my goal is to go solo and play as evil as i can. I plan on unlocking
bloodmage, destroy the ashes, etc etc.

Anyone who's experienced with AW's who has any good advice?.

I have read that thread and there's not even a hint in how to
build the char or how to deal with the first 7 levels up until
you actually get access to Arcane Warrior spec.

I know "magic" is the prime attribute.  But i cannot see how
a char which cannot take much damage, can survive solo
in Hard-mode, not even normal mode.

Some encounters makes you face 5+enemies at once,
and how are you suppose to solo that?.  Cone of Cold
only works so much.  I guess you could aim for shattering
alot, combined with debuff and lifeleech.

Oops, my apologies. I forgot that thread didn't deal with pre-AW life. Sorry bout that.

No harm done :o.

Another question.  If i am going solo, how am i suppose to open
chests which contains valuable loot?.  From what i understand,
the skill "lockpick rank-1" atleast, is needed while cunning increases
the "DICE".  I'd hate to leave all those chests, and 50xp per chest opened,
50xp per trap disabled..  thats a lot of xp lost.

You're not? You have to be a rogue to open lockboxes. If you want you can bot a rogue and just turn off tactics and have them in hold position, but no lockboxes for you otherwise.

Here is one guide, if this one satisfy you.

I have not read the guide Tyrax suggested so I cant say if it will give you the answers you seek.

It is possible to play solo as an Arcane Warrior at nightmare level. I was able to do it. Your spells do need to be selected in a specific order.  Here are the first 7 levels:
Level 1
• Arcane Bolt – (you are automatically given this spell at the beginning)
• Flame Blast – Great for AoE damage
• Heal
Level 2
• Rock Armor
Level 3
• Fire Weapons – Not used, but is a prerequisite to the Fireball spell.
Level 4
• Fireball- Very effective throughout the game, especially in the beginning.
Level 5
• Mind Blast – Use when creatures surround you to stun them. Then move away to cast area effect AoE spells (like Fireball).
• Walking Bomb – This is used on mages, bosses or other elite creatures. you get an additional talent point at this stage
Level 6
• Force Field – Used in offense/defense. Used after casting the Walking or Virulent bomb on a tough creature to protect yourself. Other times it is used to disable one of the creatures while you are attacking something else.
Level 7
• Arcane Warrior specialty
• Combat Magic
I have also created my own guide on the strategy I used to win the game solo with an Arcane Warrior. It outlines every spell, skill, attribute and item I used to win.

I selected my spells in a different order.

Arcane bolt, walking bomb, and mind blast->force field is 3 points (since you start with arcane bolt) and will get you to level 7 with some kiting and cleverness (closing doors on archers, running away from melee, breaking los, etc).

Using these three spells, you can open on a baddie with arcane bolt, walking bomb them, tap them a couple times with the staff, arcane bolt again, and then cast force field on yourself. The enemies will pile around you, but you'll take no damage because of the force field, of course. The walking bomb will eventually explode. If there are enemies alive still, make use of potions/mind blast and repeat.

I'm running a solo AW game right now. For the first few squishy levels, Walking Bomb is your best friend. Up until level 8 or so, every single stat point went straight to Magic, so Walking Bomb had a bit of an extra kick to it. When facing a group of baddies, Walking Bomb + Arcane Bolt + Winter's Grasp = exploding bad guy. Note that you generally want to use Winter's Grasp LAST, otherwise you'll freeze someone away from his cohorts, which is not what you want. You want the explosion to happen right in the middle of a group, which will severely hurt, if not outright kill every other baddie in the vicinity.

I've taken down groups of 5-6 baddies in one shot that way.

Other than that, the biggest challenge you'll probably face in the squishy stage is the Ogre fight at the top of the Tower of Ishal. This can actually be quite simple, surprisingly. Cast Walking Bomb and start running circles around the outside of the chamber. Repeat when the cooldown timer expires. You may need to chug a health poultice every once in a while, as sometimes he'll catch you with a fist when you stop to cast the spell. He'll go down eventually.

Once you get to Lothering, you should hit level 7 sometime during the killing 3 groups of bandits phase, at which point you open up Arcane Warrior and the difficulty slider gets ratcheted down several orders of magnitude.

well playing an arcane warrior, I guess I don't know what your question is specifically, I just use a spiritual healer for my second class, makes me harder to hit while I heal/healing my party, or a shape shifter, being a bear with added armor, takes longer/harder to kill. Plus my armor and weapons makes tougher to play at higher lvls, while I try maxing out my points on dex, magic, and will. Three aspects of my character I focus on.

Here are the mods I use for my armor and magic base weapons, powerful and beauty this armor is packing. Strong enough for you to fight on your own, but doesn't make you a god. Hope this helps

and heres a wicked robe to match

In addition I more of an elementist arcane mage. I mix together different powers together taking out mass/wide pary of enemies on one area. In some ways you can take out mass armys with these elemental powers. I sometimes try traping them with earthquake(sometimes works, or causes alot of trouble if enemy is imune). Or I use gylphis. Gylphis of paralyis (first) and gylphis of repulsion can paraylize mass amounts of enemies (which can somestimes paraylize you if you're too clos or not careful). But the spell I love, and I think is the ultimate killing machine, which I accidently discovered XD, is Storm of the century.

(lol me running away from the mess i made, didn't account for how wide the storm would be XD. I was very surprised, nearly died XD)

mixing blizzard and tempest together, while I'm in spell might mode. really love it, and been using it ever since. Plus another mod that makes me use dual weapons on my mage

I never seen a arcane warrior blood mage, sound good. Increase fatige of the armor gives a increase bonus to the attack power of the spells, making blood spells more effect, and probably lethal, in addition to you being harder to hit with from the arcane class. My only advise. Look down. Plus combing different spells, and see what you get, don't be afriad to experiment (thats what she said... lol nvm).

SPOLIER in how to get blood magic

Mages Only
If you want that blood magic, enter the dream yourself, and don't kill the boy of the arl. Make a deal. All I'm saying

Or have the DLC of Warden Keep
