This DLC is looking very interesting and I’m really looking forward to seeing more info on it, not to mention I’m also looking forward to whatever they’re planning with the LI’s in this DLC. There’s one line of dialogue in there that sounds like something Garrus would say and if you can get the guy who is effectively Turian batman to freak out it’s got to be good.

Also let’s all be honest here, none of us have any idea as to what Bioware are planning and since this looks like it is the first of how ever many DLC’s Bioware have planned, it potentially sets up an interesting precedent, the DLC changing the game.

In ME1 and ME2 the DLC packs were really just additional stories to add to the storyline or fill in the gaps between ME2 and ME3. They didn’t affect the core storyline of the game in any way, they aren’t even mentioned at all. A rouge Reaper who has the potential to become an ally will have to have a decent impact on the ending. It may very well just be new conversations options and/or EMS but it WILL have an impact, it wouldn’t make sense for it not to since it invalidates the control ending.

Also in ME3 it’s already been shown how past DLC affect the storyline, or at least the outcome of certain missions. In the Hanar Diplomat mission if you recruited Kasumi and she is loyal you can both save Jondum Bau and the Hanar homeworld, otherwise you have to choose. This happens again in the Volus Ambassador mission, if you recruited Zaeed and he is loyal then you can save the colony and get the Volus bombing fleet, otherwise again you have to choose.

Maybe I'm just being too hopeful, only time will tell.

I love this leviathan idea! Not sure "why" it's nested in the EC files - why did Bioware bother, unless it was to have people hunt for it? They likely knew it would ahppen based on immense investigation and dissection sdone by the fans on all of the orignal ME3 code and gameplay.

Whether intentional or not - Bioware seems to just continue to jerk everyone around. I remember seeing the podcasts/videos/tweet where Jessica and Mike Gamble directly were stating that once the fans saw what was coming, they wouldn't beleieve how awesome it was 9or some paraphrase but you all know what I mean likely). I was underwhelmed by EC - it "fixed" some plotholes, but otherwise played as just a laundry list of items they felt they needed to hit to get community off their back. yet they won't come out and straight deny IT or other theories, that they clearly see are very popular and they know the fans have spun themselves all up on it. Just give the fans a break Bioware! Come out and straight clarify a few things - with a Q&A podcast or something. Quit staying mum on things, and throwing in easter eggs that just spin us all up!

However, as an aised - if Bioware wants to release a DLC, or series of them, that effectively brings the Reapers back to being the "end all badass" (remember how scaring it was after talking with Soveriegn?) and not some nerfed puppets, and brings Harbinger back as the main bad guy (like he was built up to be right through freaking Arrival - the start of ME3 essentailly!), and presents a reasonable way to actually defeat Harbinger (like setting a rouge reaper on him that only our Shepard was able to convince to help us) - that will conlcude to my satisfaction the series and I would pay through the nose to get this scratch itched. Wouldn't likely ever buy a Bioware product again after all this emotional jerking around, but whatever...

Okay I'm going to throw out a theory and you guys tell me what you think. What if this was BWs intentions all along? What if Hudson and Walters knew that Mass Effect 3 was just too much of a monster to finish in 18 months.

What if all of these dlcs open up additional scenes and options for both pre and post ending? Not only would the game go down as the greatest in history, it would over take the MGS series as that greatest series in all of history.

A lot of people said that bioware said they wouldn't change the endings, well guess what? They changed the endings in the EC. Before all we had was RGB now we have refusal. That constitutes a huge change. Now picture the remaining dlcs adding onto the refusal endings.

I remember playing a game years ago where you had to beat the game at least 6 times to get the 7th ending which was pretty much the everyone lives ending. Square snuck in a mini game like thing that allowed you to get Tidus back in FFX-2.

Its not unheard of. I think we have a lot more headed our way that will make us all love bioware the way we used to once again.

Im sure trying to get ME3 wrapped up while in the midst of trying to get SWTOR released made for some interesting... oversights. Especially on the ME3 side since SWTOR stood to make WAY more money.

I'd be curious to see how well it does if it's something you have to buy. Even more so how well it does compared to the DLC's of ME & ME2.

6:  one single individual of the original Leviathan Species has survived to this time: the Leviathan of Dis. But...can it be trusted? After all...it did create the Catalyst, and it still indoctrinates.

I think Leviathan of Dis is the first attempt to create a reaper. It failed, so Harbinger was the first perfect one under control of the Catalyst

That might be possible as well, but the dialogue in the EC states that the Reaper that is made from the very first species to be harvested, the Catalyst's Creators (the species identified by name in said dialogue as the Leviathan) is, in fact, Harbinger.

The Catalyst is too proud of himself to say that he failed building a reaper, discarded it or lost control of it and with the remaining Leviathans he created the first fully fledged reaper. He considers leviathan of dis an abomination and doesn't even count him as a real reaper

How about the theory that they can't change the ending, because we haven't seen the ending yet?

Mind = blown.

We have dismissed that claim

Like I said, it might be possible. But your theory assumes a great deal more than what is necessary to explain the facts, those being the elements from the EC file I quoted earlier.

Well the EC is 2 gigs, people were suspicious of it the moment they heard the size.

Obviously those with the know-how were going to tear it apart to find out why it was so big and to have this sitting there waiting raises a few questions. Also the Starchild foreshadows a failed Synthesis, that his creators were unwilling when he made them the first Reapers and we have that 3D Reaper, the camera focuses on.

Either what's coming would be over the Xbox limit in size, so the ending part was put with the EC to cover it.

If, as some have said, each dlc opens new options in the end game, this might cause problems, as this is meant to be Pay-DLC now. Those that buy will be expecting something awesome like that and those that don't might feel left out, even if it's worth the price.

MP Packs are making a lot of money, for Bioware/EA, but that doesn't mean future SP DLC will be free.

PS: If as you're said, they can't change the ending because no one has got the true ending, that would make Bioware gaming gods (as long as "true" endings don't suck).

I refuse to believe in Bioware any longer.

If they do change the endings or create good DLC I will buy them, but I'm not expecting anything as good as you propose from the studio that created Dragon Age 2 and the RBG Starchild endings.

I'm not so sure about that whole size limit thing.
If that was a problem, they could have split the DLC into two parts.
Apart from that, the Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Update 3 is 2,4GB in size.

Amen to that.  I would like some sort of explanation for the glowing eye lights.  He is the only reaper that has them.  It might explain why he was able to control the collectors while he was still out in dark space.

From what I read it seems we learn Harbinger's true name, like Sovereign's is Nazara. I guess this proves that he is involved in some capacity.

If what they got comming is over 2GB then it would be huge. The EC is massive as it is, to give you an idea it's the same size as Dragon Age: Awakening, Shivering Isles for TES 4 is only 993.75 MB, and Shadow Broker comes in at 1.6GB.
This does raise the question, why is EC one of the biggest things on my HDD?

Maybe he is the origin of the Crucible.
