It would make sense with Leviathan being just an alien. There is talk of ancient alien "down there".

Rogue Reaper could be unrelated, or they just thought it was a Reaper because of the indocrinaton - maybe Leviathan had the technology the Reapers used for indocrination and used it on the scientists. They were there po 10 years after all, ale I doubt Reaper indocrination would make them live as long, and then possibly return to their lives after it's been lifted.

Good spot.

EDIT:

I doubt it's gonna have anything to do with the species that created the Catalyst. That would mean Leviathan would know what the Catalyst is and that it is the Citadel.

Don't forget slow indocrination can make the subject last for years. Remember Saren that discover Sovereign about two decades before ME1.

You don't recover from indoctrination, the miners who were being controlled in the DLC leak were suddenly fine after 10 years of working for Leviathan

It's obvious from the nature of the dialogue that the line:

If Leviathan is a defector--a Reaper that broke away from the others--then it is also a traitor.

Is speculation from before they find and communicate with Leviathan because after you get:

I have studied your human religions, Commander--your "Devil" and his fall. Leviathan and its kind deserve the same fate. They once unleashed a plague that has haunted all of our history to this day.

This is Javik explicitly saying that "Leviathan and his kind" are responsible for the Reapers.

I speculate that Leviathans have natural control over organic minds, and that the technology of indoctrination is a crude synthetic approximation of this ability.

They better not make this Leviathan an Rogue Reaper, otherwise Control ending goes out the window.

Even with this Leviathan, all you probably get is another additional 100 War Assets( regardless how much) , that you will never see in action, or fire off a single shot against the reapers. For this additional 100 war Assets I really can't justify spending money. I really don't know how anyone can?

IF we could dissect the Leviathan and found that we can finally use its weapons for an Conventional Victory, then yes I would buy this in a heart beat. But if its just a couple of war assets its really not worth the excitement.

For a deeper history into Harbinger would be awesome, but since you don't see Harbinger in ME3 except that last laser beam, whats really the big deal. Its not like Harbinger is the final showdown boss and you wanted to know more about this final boss.

Maybe for the lore? Maybe for the Achievements Image IPB Or maybe because it will add to the experience of Mass Effect as a whole, which, despite all this ending BS, is still one of the best gaming trilogys ever.

I get why people would be disappointed if this does nothing for the ending other that add some EMS, I will be to. But for me having more of my second favourite gaming series (Zelda being first) to play is enough.

Considering the Bararians doubled down on research on the LoD _after_ the Arrival DLC (Hence after Sovereign was destroyed)... no it was never confirmed or likely.

The LoD was simply another Reaper corpse, like the one we visit in ME2.

And again in case anyone has missed this:

The there is _nothing_ in the DLC leak to connect the Reaper corpse that the Batarians called the "Leviathan of Dis" with the entity in the DLC who _self identifies_ as "Leviathan"

Nah. Sovereign was discovered in 2162 orbiting an unknown world close to the Perseus Veil. The Leviathan of Dis however was discovered in crater on the planet Jartar the year after. Both were discovered by batarian survey teams, though Sovereign was regonised as an AI the Leviathan was thought to be genetically engineered. Also Balak confirms that the Leviathan was taken back to batarian space, were it helped facilitate the reaper invasion of their worlds.

This is an easy mix up to make, and one I made befor I read Revelation.

I'd probably assume the same, looking at the outside of a Reaper I'd assume "ship" and if it started talking I'dassume AI. Once you crack them open though they are generally full of techno-organic goo, so if I found a reaper corpse I'd assume
genetically engineered .

Indeed. I can't remember if it says in Revelation if Had'dah's survey team ever gained access in to Sovereign's interior. Though, given how it was very much alive at the time and had probably indoctrinated the entire team planet side, I'd say it's unlikely anyone saw it's gooey innards untill Saren rocked up.

Leviathan of Dis, yeah +235 War Assets, this is what we "should hold on to your games saves" for? Their not even pretending to try anymore, but hey they'll probably pack it with more MP content for whatever that's worth.

Um, that bit of unused Catalyst dialog pretty much spells it out when put combined with the whole "my creators gave them form" line. The Leviathans were the race, presumably sea-dwelling, that created the Catalyst and that he betrayed to create Harbinger and begin the cycle. They had native mind-control powers that work differently than indoctrination. The catalyst failed to wipe them out, because even a dead god can dream (just like the dead reaper from 2) and after billions of years (the age of the Leviathan of Dis) the stars are right and they re-awaken to a changed galaxy. Presumably the oldest lies sleeping in deep R'lyeh on Earth,

I seem to have slipped into another story at some point there...

Random speculation thrown into the room:

Maybe Leviathan is still alive because he is the Catalyst's failed experiment at Synthesis. The Reapers are machines filled with organic goo, maybe the Catalyst also tried it the other way around: An organic Leviathan filled with synthetic circuitry.

The Reapers/the Catalyst are small fries and they dropped the ball on this one. Leviathan is the Milky Way Galaxy's branch manager, and he has to save his ass by calling the regional boss in the Local Cluster and blame it all on his incompetent staff. Their is even some speculation that an email was sent to the Virgo Supercluster HQ and it might land on the CEO's desk. An expensive fiasco here and the company is certain to take some stock hits.

Your mission will be to help Leviathan navigate the mind-numbing corporate bureaucracy of Reap-Inc. and help him save his job. First mission is Priority: Case of the Mondays.

At SDCC you will see Marvelous Multiplayer Earth DLC. And get hints that "they are working on something really great for single playre but they are not telling us what".

That was not it at all. Sovereign was By a human and a batarian.

Dis is bartarian alone.

this DLC better give some major new insights into the reapers if we can indeed recruit one to fight alongside us. i mean if its friendly it might aswel give us all the intel we're ever going to need.

also I hope its a different model reaper and not a sovereign class capitol ship but a more custom one like harbinger was.
hell even one you see in the ending of ME2 would be cool.

"Skordi says he will play the Reaper named Leviathan, a traitor who killed one of his own kind and has been exiled for 10 years. Leviathan controls an indoctrinated Batarian colony, where Shepard meets him and can have him join the fight against the Reapers."
So, it IS a rogue reaper ?
This is going to be fascinating then...

It certainly sounds interesting to me. I hope it will come out fairly soon, since the singleplayer is suffering from a lack of DLC love currently.
