yes Infiltrator was heavily used by the playerbase but i can tell 90% of them were below average or average at best.

Infiltrator had the Hunter syndrome,if you ever played WoW.every noob could play them but not everyone could play them to full effect.so dont talk about carrying.i have seen enough Gold lobbies where i had to do devices as a Soldier/Engineer and revive the Infiltrator multiple times per match.in fact the vast majority of my public games look like this.

THIS!  I think infiltrators (not all, but most) got a little too convinced they were all "great" players. With the TC, Krysae, Amp V, Amp III you should have been able to kill everything.  It didn't take much skill with the aforementioned loadout.  AoE sniper rifle with +50000000% damage bonus, c'mon now.  Now we'll see who is real good (Widow, BW, Valiant snipers) and who was using the evolutions\\Krysae as a crutch.  If you are good you will still be effective.  If not, well maybe find another class now.

The vast majority of balance changes have been attempts to bring up weaker strategies so they can compete with the stronger ones.

I can't tell if you're trying to counter whateverman7's statement, but the part I highlighted from Eric's quote has just been reversed thanks to the duration nerf.

[Edit]Maybe if you could activate Cloak while in the process of dealing with an objective it wouldn't be so bad.  Now there's not even any point in Cloak automatically disabling once an objective completes.

Instead, you now NEED your team to give some cover fire while working an objective, which does not help matters.  It will only attract additional enemies to that position.

Having the team provide covering fire while somebody is working on an objective is a strategy. One that was clearly weaker than Infiltrator running.

And still is, despite the balance change. I know my squad's still going to do Infiltrator running.

This doesn't effect shotgun inflitrators like me that much and I rarely use amps and equipment on gold unless I play with friends. 10 percent nerf is not bad when a rail amp I offsets the issue. I rarely use cloak for utility except for deactivation objectives so I guess that will effect people like me most

Wrong.  The change does nothing to improve a weaker strategy, it ruined a stronger strategy.  The weaker strategy is still just as weak.  It's never a good idea to attract enemy attention to the objectives.

Now though, it's far more likely that person (less likely to be an Infiltrator as well) will need some covering fire, which does indeed attract attention.  You just nuked the strong strategy without doing anything to help the weaker.

You know, the people who didn't want Tactical Cloak nerf are screaming now just as much as they did before it got nerfed.  Yet what is surprising, is the people who wanted the nerf and now got it, are crying as much as they did before the nerf, too.  So, nothing has changed, really, right?

I'm really not in the bolt bandwagon. Everyone raves about the bw and valiant. The recent buffs have made some compitition with the saber. Hell even the viper is giving some comp to the valiant. All it takes is an even half compitant player.

So, unless my maths is completely off.

Ev1 Damage 50% to 40% = 10% reduction
Ev6 Sniper Sniper Damage 40% to 25% = 15% reduction.

So for Snipers infiltrators:

Without Duration Bonus (Ev 4 Damage):
10% (Ev1) + 15% (Ev6 Sniper) = 25% damage reduction.

With Duration Bonus (Ev 4 Duration):
10% (Ev1) + 40% (Ev 4 Damage) + 15% (Sniper) = 65% damage reduction.

For Shotgun Infiltrators (etc.):

Without Duration:
10% Damage Reduction.

With Duration:
50% Damage Reduction.

Conclusion: BioWare want more Shotgun infiltrators that do not revive people or contribute to team objectives. ;)

Seriously though, I'll be trying out my SI with the Duration bonus/sniper as soon as I've levelled it again to see what it's like losing 65% of the damage.

Want to know the irony of the situation?

If a infiltrator goes for damage people will complain he isn't a team player.

If he goes for duration people will complain that his damage sucks and he's dragging the team down.

THIS

Or you can do both and still be awesome.  But that would require tactics.  You know the whole "tactical cloak" instead of "I WIN" button.

If these changes affect you that badly then I'm sorry.

You sucked to begin with.  Time to find a new class or go back to silver.

All this QQ is hilarious.  Play infiltrator 80% of the time and I love the changes.

You are under the mistaken impression that the covering fire strategy is less effective than it is supposed to be. This is incorrect - the weaker strategy is exactly where it's supposed to be, whereas the stronger strategy is still stronger than it should be, but closer to the right spot than it was before the change.

And they will keep doing so as long as there is an Infiltrator in the game. I really hope Bioware stops where they have with the nerfing. I know they won't, but I have to have hope. It will only stop when the Infiltrator is so weak, and under-powered that nobody plays them at all.

I really don't like this.

Characters intended for offensive support, like the Quarian Male and Female Infiltrators are going to take the hardest blows from this cut, far more so than the legion of Human and Geth and Salarian Infiltrators who any player will tell you were by far the most common.

Now with duration, it lasts a full 20% shorter than it did without duration previously. This means even duration-specced Infiltrators (like my QMI was) are less-able to do what they were originally intended to do. This severely undercuts viability and renders these classes much less viable as not only damage sources, but as mobile objective-cappers. Good luck getting anything ninja capped with 3 seconds less duration now. All you need is cloak to go down and then you can have some random enemy on gold proceed to ritually turn you into brightly-colored confetti.
