I can't say whether it was an issue before the new extended cut, but now that I'm replaying the whole thing, the Normandy display keeps forgetting my (huge 2700 point) N7 multiplayer war asset.

Whenever I check it after a mission the asset is simply gone from the list. If I play some MP, it seems to reappear - until a new mission is finished.

Occurences: after loading the old savegame on Horizon, I finished the mission (war asset gone). Played some MP, without promoting any characters, loaded the new save after the mission - war asset back. Finished Cerberus HQ, asset is gone again.

So, what to do? Should I play some MP after each mission? When exactly must I make sure the asset is there to count for the endings?

I ran into the exact same problem. My entire N7 war asset is also missing, I promoted over 10 N7 characters, that's a good chunk of war assets.
I was playing earlier (SP) and I had around 7800 War Assets/Military Strength. I played MP for awhile and got my Galactic Readiness back to 100% and promoted 2 characters did the Sanctuary Mission. I remembered I had just promoted my 2 characters, so I wanted to see my new military strength and noticed I was now down to around 6800, which is why I noticed and was shocked and very pissed.

but, like you said, they seem to come back... i'm not sure what to make of it and how it will affect the end game if at all, i guess it's not a big deal as long as you have a min of 5k when you beat earth

This happens to me too. It was doing this before the Extended Cut. I don't know what triggers it but it comes and goes frequently.

I have the same problem, but I can get it back simply by looking at the Galaxy Map at the War Assets console.
