The fact that EA let Bioware do this for us should prove that EA actually has a heart. It takes real guts to say, here's some extra money Bioware. Now go make your fans happy. It's also good to know that Bioware is still Bioware and have a large influence on what they make. I liked the original endings...I love the EC. I am eagerly looking forward to Dragon Age III...I can not wait to see what they come up with as they are actually taking time with this one!

Thank you Bioware! :o

Ok, I've read some crazy things on this thread but this certainly takes the cake. EA only did this (and I'm sure begrudgingly) because they were on the verge of losing thousands of potential customers, not to mention that they had already been voted the worst company in America while at the same time winning, in unprecedented fashion mind you, the "Golden Poo" award.

IMO, it's one thing to accept that Bioware finally decided put some sort of effort into their game as a form of remorse, but to praise them for it after: 1) they basically snobbed us at first for not understanding their "artistic vision" and still refused to communicate with their fans, 2) when it took a massive internet campaign and the threats of boycotts to finally bring them around, and 3) (by far the most important point) the endings should have at least been this acceptible in the first place is something I cannot understand.

Somewhat. I will agree that the idea that this proves EA is sunshine and bunnies is a little bit of a stretch - more likely, it shows that EA actually do consider holding onto fans worth spending money on, and realistically that is the best one can expect from a company looking to turn a profit. If it means we as customers get what we want, I'm not overly bothered about the specific motivations.

At the end of the day you can choose to look at this as positively or as negatively as you like.... but to be honest, it seems a little strange that you'd argue that bioware fixing the endings is an example of hubris, snobbery and lack of care. Were it any of these things then it would have been a case of Bioware saying 'get stuffed' and leaving it at that... instead, its a case of a free multi-gig DLC being released purely to please the fans. You can argue that they slipped up by rolling the original rubbish endings in the first place, but I'm not sure it makes sense to say that fixing their mistake at no cost to the gamers is in any way a bad thing.... its something I've not seen before from a developer.

Frankly, it reminds me of what Bioware were like prior to the DA2 release. Its rather heartening to see that they're going back to their roots.

I'm still not quite ready to pre-order DA3, but it has meant I'd be interested in seeing more Mass Effect.

I agree completly, I have only finished it one time, but I was very satisfied, not perfect, but more than acceptable. I did not expect it to be this good, now they should release a new game, where you play Garrus, and I will throw my money at the screen.

oh Bioware-Reaper-Shepard-Demi-Gods please oh please let this come to pass. Garrus as Archangel on Omege would be sick!

I also want to chime in with my praise. Yes, the original endings were awful and they actually upset me. Yes, Bioware did not handle the situation that well in the beginning.

However: In the end they sat down and provided their fans with endings that do justice to the awesome trilogy that is Mass Effect.

No longer did I feel stunned and depressed after the credits rolled, but had the feeling, that all my Shepard had done, all the hardship, all the sacrifice had actually achieved a better future for the galaxy. That's what I call "bittersweet". Also, the crew made it off that infernal planet!

So, thank you Bioware and I hope, that there is at least one more SP DLC in the pipes. I am certainly going to buy it.

I got a chance to say goodbye to my LI (Pretty obvious who that is) and got to see how the future after Shepard did his/her thing. I didn't think I was going to say this, but.. Well done, BioWare!

I am behind this guy 100% i would like to see a few new armours and weapons and maybe another side dlc like from ashes but thats just a suggestion as for the game itself the Extended cut delivered exactly what it promised from closure to explanation, yeah the godchild is a bit hypocritical claiming synthetics will always rebel against their creators and then admits he forced his creators to become reapers which kind of indicates he is a little bit too immature to make a decision like that but my god its so much better now and i love the new ending

Thank you Bioware my faith is restored in your abilities

p.s give shepard some boss spectre armour please ;)Image IPB

Much better than the original, flawed ending in providing a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy (although IMO it was still patchy in some areas).

However with a nod to the OP, a thanks to BW for recognising that for many of us a fan's passion for ME was cruelled by the original ending; and then for doing something concrete about those concerns; despite of the issues surrounding integrity of the original vision.

Let's hope that BW register that there are enough of us who have a continued interest in world of ME to support the release of high quality single player DLC.

Cheers.

Bravo Bioware. I was never a hater on the original, but it is evident that you guys put a ton of work in the EC and it really patched up some genuine issues. Overall, it was beautiful and truly fitting ending. Lastly, I applaud the writers for their courage in providing closure to Shepard's story, even if the "happy" ending wasn't there. [avoiding spoilers obviously]. A happy ending (stop giggling) would have been too Disney for my tastes.

My only real complaint about the Extended Cut is that it shouldn't have been needed in the first place.

This is the ending(s) that should have been in the game when it shipped.

Gives me faith that Bioware still can pull off a fantastic finale.

I agree.

But still, see signature.

Like many others, my major concern with the EC was why could we have had this from the very beginning? If we had, all this debacle and bad blood between developer and gamer would simply have never happend, period. It's not perfect, but I came away from this ending feeling miles better than I did when I say the orignal ending. Please learn from this BioWare; never sell yourselves short. You are a team, not a one-man army and amazing things happen when this team works together. Thanks again.

Hey, guys!

First, I want to thank everyone at Bioware for making the EC DLC. Trough the Extended Cut, you clearly showed us how important we fans are for you and how you always make sure, to do things better. And this is, for me, a rarity in the game industry.

Now, something to the EC.:

What was good?

- solved the thing with the squadmates

- why Joker was not on Earth

- Fate of the civilizations

- as always: Soundtrack and the writing (damn epic!) Thank you to the writers. You do deserve a award.

Still, there are open questions. For example.: Does the Catalyst still exist?, Is Shepard alive? (Destroy ending), or was this really Shepard? (or a another N7 soldier),......

For the future, a Post-DLC (with a new character) after the ending would be great, to see how it feels to play with a new protagonist. Maybe someone who tries to find Shepard after the Reapers were destroyed? I think that would be amazing!!!!!

But these are just ideas. It´s totally up to you, Bioware. Again, thank you for this trilogy and this amazing journey that we could not experience without you. Best luck for the future!!!

- John

Wait, The week Priestly goes on vacation and leaves Merizan in charge, and BSN becomes all positive?

This ending cut is great, can't wait for more SP DLC.

Weird of course the Mods are WAY more strict then he was. Some people (reportedly and not confirmed) are getting banned for just speaking against it. Of course I am still waiting for mine.

No one's getting banned for speaking against it.

People -are- getting banned for insults and personal attacks, such as those who respond to any positivity with 'you're an idiot if you think this was any good'. Other people are being banned for saying 'you're an idiot if you think the EC was bad'.

There is no conspiracy theory, just a continued enforcement of the rules that have always been in place.

I figured as much but the conspiracy theory thing does soud better. It could be a book. The BSN: The Secrets of The Community

Bioware, thank you for making the Extended Cut DLC. You addressed all of my major gripes with the ending - there was closure, the state of the galaxy was explained and the biggest plotholes were fixed. For me, Mass Effect 3 is a phenomenal game and is certainly the most emotionally engaging game I have ever played. And now it has a fitting ending with the EC! Thank you so much for this experience!

Well done, Bioware...You've completely mucked up your lore by introducing a character in the final minutes of a final installment that contradicts much of what is explained by Sovereign in the first game.
