Wow you really been drinking the Bioware/EA coolaid haven't you. Before the EC I don't remember anyone saying of we just need more of a bad ending. that was just something PR made up to cover the stink

Don't forget the lies, and how they treated us as fans.

I will not be buying another game from them.

Yep, have to admit Bioware have atoned for the shocking original ending here. Well done.

No, far from it. The EC may be good, but that doesn't excuse what they did to the fans.

Why not just be more discerning before choosing to purchase a game from them?  I mean, if they happen to make a game in the future that would be your favorite of all time, by not purchasing it aren't you really only hurting yourself?  I guarantee you EA will not feel the sting of the lack of your 60 bucks. Just do some research, read some reviews, maybe rent it first and then if it lives up to your standards you can feel good about buying it.

I didn't feel lied to or mistreated, just entertained with what I felt was the best video game trilogy of all time, so to each his own.

Nope, I have been burned for the last time by Bioware and EA.

I too would like to add to this.

I will admit I was incredibly sceptical; I could not imagine they could do a whole lot to 'extend' the original ending that would actually make it better.

I have now played through it twice 'properly', and watched the other two on youtube. I am pleased to say I was pleasantly surprised. My thoughts:

- The Normandy extraction felt rather forced (is Harbinger blind?) but the farewell with the LI was very touching and it does fill a gaping plot hole so I can deal with that.
- The expended dialogue with the Catalyst really made a massive difference. I am still not a fan of the plot device as a whole, but at least we can now get a bit of information about the whole situation. Its comments actually made it something approaching a sympathetic character, which I was not expecting.
- Refusal. Thank you so much for the option. I chose this on my 'canon' Shepard. It was great to see that we could actually stick to our guns on something, and although the new Stargazer scene basically told us "yeah the Crucible would have worked, you messed up big time", I was happy with that as my ending.
- Destroy, which was my second option, was vastly improved. I had a high EMS so I also want to see what happens with a low one, but THAT is a bittersweet ending. Good closure, and now the breath scene felt like a pleasant mystery and a spark of hope, rather than a frustrating scene stapled on to the end.

On the options I watched online:

- Control was very suitably creepy. Well played. Perhaps the option for my arrogant sod of a renegade should I ever get there.
- Synthesis was too sickly sweet for my tastes, but it was obviously what some people wanted. I was sure I saw a pink unicorn in the background...

Otherwise, the slides were a little generic but pleasing, and the voiceovers were nicely done.

However, most importantly, the Extended Cut has revitalised the whole series for me. The end of a story should not detract from the rest, but it did. I cannot really express how depressed I got when I tried to start a ME1 playthrough after the original ending, but now I am actually looking forward to it.

This is what it should have been like first time around.

Well done Bioware!

It wasn't perfect, but it was a massive overhaul from the original, my only complaint is that it should of been in the original ending, the added scenes, your squad mates getting on the Normandy, and the new conversation options with the Catalyst really added to the experience. I thought the reject ending felt like a bit of a 'screw you' to the fans though.

But either way, thanks for this BioWare, the epilogue was my favorite bit, really touching stuff.

The only beef i have with the EC was the fact tha there was no Li reunion even as a slide granted it was implied in the Destroy ending, but hack cant have everything, pitty is if that wan in the game from the begining than than the huge amount of flack you guy got would be significantly reduced now if you excuse i am of to start my 3rd run of ME3 without forcing my self to do it:D

3AM here, just finished the EC. Had to log on to say that i loved what they did. Great job filling in the plot holes and tweaks here and there. It truly felt like the ending that should have been!

I'm back in love with you guys again!

Yes great job for only fixing three plotholes at best and creating even more. Great job for the new "You didnt like our intended endings so everyone dies" Great job for slapping your fans in the face. Great job for sidestepping who created the catalyst. "Who created you?" "You dont know them and there isnt time to explain" that equals a major COP OUT. Great job for being generous enough to cater to all of us "unreasonable" people who you seem to think were to dumb to understand what you intended with the endings in the first place. If everyone want to flame me remember this they have always said that they could not understand why people were reacting the way they did to the ending because they thought their supposedly "artistic" endings made perfect sense

You are wrong. This answer was to another question (who created Crusible)

The ending still doesn't make sense, but it is better then before. Although one has to admit, that 'better' wasn't really hard to accomplish, given how bad the original ending was.
Just because the catalyst explains what was merely implied before, doesn't magically make it sound right to me and Joker's extraction of the squadmates felt terribly wrong, too. The Destroyer must have been blind and stupid not to hit the Normandy. It was a sweet scene, I'll give Bioware that, but it's still really, really wrong.

Not to mention the artwork in the ending, when you'll see your squadmates again... It was a good addition, that- again- improved the ending experience, but that's all. I really don't get the people who are so excited about it.

... And as I played with a save that hadn't featured Thane, because I didn't import, where the hell did Shep's memory of him come from?

Thank you, Bioware. What you've done with the Extended Cut... Well, I'm glad to see that my faith in your games and your company was not misplaced. :) While I know the EC won't be able to satisfy everybody, I believe that what you've provided is your best, honest attempt to address the issues that we've communicated to you. And for the most part, you've satisfied those issues, mine included. What's more, you could have charged for EC, but you didn't. As somebody who works in the IT industry myself, I know just how costly it must have been to put 3 months of development work to fix something that you could have just walked away from. It gladdens me to know that you care about our experiences enough to make the effort.

So again, thank you for listening to us, and for doing your best to keep us your happy, loyal fans. It is a gesture that is deeply appreciated. Might I suggest that you print out a list of messages such as this one and pass us around to everybody who worked on the EC? They deserve these congratulations for all the hard work they've done.

Well done, Bioware.

You might want to rephrase to what "you" had hoped for this extended cut didnt even come close to fixing all the problems that I had not with just the ending but the various plotholes strewn throughout the game
