Are they ever going to explain the breathing scene.

head canon is only one step removed from utter delusionMassEffecter132 wrote...He's alive, probably with LI as Liara smiled and didn't put up the plaque on the wall. The Normandy is seen leaving the planet they crashed on. So I assumed she somehow knew Shepard was alive and to me, they found each other and BLUE BABIES!!! Thats my head canon

I'd like to think the breath is like the canonical ending. Sure you have multiple choices, but in the 17 various endings (However minuscule the changes) there's only ONE end scene credit.
Just like Shepard dying in ME2. Sure it's an available ending. . .But you can't import to ME3 with it, you're forced to replay the whole game (Meaning that the other endings are canonical to the death one).
Plus with Shepard alive and the Reapers destroyed, it paves the way for a new enemy to arise in the franchise.
Except Shepard's story is over. They've said this from the beginning his story was a trilogy, so without him the same enemy can surface with a new protagonist. Honestly, I'd rather see a new protagonist than a "surprise new shepard story!" game.

I guess so.
Man, we really are just a bunch of entitled whiners for wanting a proper ending to our story.
I did everything right, and am still left with questions.

whats to explain??? everything after that is fan fiction. Pretty much
Photo I suggest you learn the different between a "Plot hole" and a "Narrative Dramatic effect"
Pretty much a plot-hole is soemthing that isn't explain in the context of the story. And there is no way to account for it. Here its at the End of the story as a extra and or the fact that yet its not explained its a propusful placed void where then people can be allowed to make up there minds as to what has happened.
Bogus. Shepard surviving is one of the biggest holes in the ending. Nobody could've survived the explosion he was caught in, and I mean NOBODY. And I don't want to guess what actually happened to my Shepard. Atleast Synthesis (somewhat) and Control tell you what happens to Shepard (whatever nonsense it may be). In Destroy you just get a huge questionmark and a "maybe", because BioWare is apparently too afraid to say anything explicit on the topic.

As for the citadel being rebuilt, Hackett's speech is just an epilogue concerning the big picture and honestly it would take away all of the mystique if he just casually said "shepard's body was found and he was reunited with everyone! yay!". There's as much reason to believe that he's alive and found than there is to believe that he's dead, but if he's dead that scene serves no purpose.

I somewhat agree with you, but Synthesis only SOMEWHAT told us what happened to Shepard?
Shepard died. The end.

I might be huffing eezo dust, but I really had my eyes and ears glued to the TV for new content, and Shepard's gasp when he beams onto the Citadel sounds a bit...mechanical. Don't remember if that was the case previously.
I posit he's got some sort of resuscitation device planted in his body due to Cerberus upgrading him.
Immortal Shep is go for launch!

And the problem with that would be...?
People paid for a product expecting to get answers. Instead it took a ****storm online and a post release dlc to even begin to start answering questions. What's wrong with a customer wanting a product to function in a manner they expected, were advertised and paid for?

They never said everything would be answered completely. Some details do have to be left out or else you get over-exposition.

Also, Bioware rep already stated Shepard is alive, the post was about at around 7am this morning. It was the last post in a stickied thread.
