If they made another Mass Effect game where Shepard is the main PC again I will be 100 kinds of pissed.  The EC endings are better than the idea of a new Shepard story IMO.  His story is over.  Let's move along.  New protagonist please.

ME4 where the only save you can import is one of those.

This. Why can't people grasp this.

The people who complain about this would hate hitchcock.

Also, Bioware rep already stated Shepard is alive, the post was about at around 7am this morning. It was the last post in a stickied thread.

I already knew that Shepard was alive. The breathing gave it away. I just don't want to be asking basic questions about the immediate future of my character when this is supposedly the last time I'll see them.

I live within the confines of the four dimensional space which we all share. As such, I have no idea what the future will be.

My guess is no, they won't.

The "keep your save file" comment was mostly directed towards PO'd players who were very flamboyant with their "I'm going to uninstall 4EVR! / Taking this turd to Game$top" rageposts.  It was a plea from Bioware to give them a chance to make things right.

Secondly, if Bioware *was* going to make ME4 and have it set post-Crucible, the chances of it being on current gen consoles is slim to none.  There's probably a few prototype devkits floating around in-house inside Sony and Microsoft, but next gen stuff is going to be rolling out within the next couple of years, and to top it off, the new iteration of the Unreal engine will be rolling out as well.  If ME4 is in the works, EA is probably going to direct Bioware to hold off so they can come out strong when next gen hits the shelves.  Thusly, importing saves from current gen to next gen consoles could be a bit of a pain, even with cloud profiles.

tl;dr version:  Won't see any post-Crucible DLC, and ME4 (if it is even going to be a thing) is too early in development stages to make Jessica's "keep your files" tweet relevant for post-trilogy stuff.

In Synthesis Shepard Dies
In Control Shepard becomes a god
In Destroy Shepard Dies? Come on Bioware you resolved almost everything else, I for one just want to be sure of what happens in the Destroy ending, you sacrificed the Geth and EDI isn't that enough sacrifice. Maybe in just one ending Shepard can survive. It would not even be a "happy" ending as you had to sacrifice all synthetics to get there.
Edit: In the Destroy ending they could even have shepard die but as the begining of ME2 showed, as long as there is a body Shepard can be brought back.

i didn't play mass effect trilogy tu "use my imagination", i played it to be told a good story. and it was a good story, until it was turned into a mess.

if i would like to "use my imagination" i would go to a museum and watch a Miro, or a kandinsky, or i would go to see a David Lynch movie. certainly not a SF video game trilogy such as ME.

In books, characters aren't often followed to their graves. At some point, the author decides they want to move on, or they want to make more money by doing something else, so they write their story such that the character rides off into the sunset. Shepard survived, the galaxy is saved...that's kind of the bigger deal, isn't it?

Come on, folks. They're obviously pulling a Kirk on us. Shepard will appear in ME:TNG when our new hero tracks Saren Jr. to a desert planet. (S)He'll find Shepard chopping wood outside his pre-fab cottage. After an adventure together, Shep will bite it and be buried under a pile of rocks on a mountain.

The biggest deal for me in RPGs is what happens to my characters. It's the only reason I'm playing. And that's the thing, isn't it? Where is the sunset for Shepard taking a half-breath for a tenth of a second before the screen goes black? You can speculate one certainly, which is a lot easier to do now in the EC so I'm not as pissy as I was before, but these very basic things should be made canon.

Especially if it's supposedly the last of Shepard.

Orbital reentry without a suit after face checking a fireball ain't nothing but a thing for a Space Jesus badass like Shepard. In fact, Shep is so badass she doesn't even need a parachute, just a ****load of concrete to break her fall and prevent her from landing in a pillow factory 'cause that'd be for ****es.

It's there for you to make your own assumptions . Shepard is the player's . It is only fitting that we decide what happens to her/him

The destroy ending was pretty decent, at least compared to the original. But I'm pretty surprised that they decided not to explain that.

I'd like to think the breath is like the canonical ending. Sure you have multiple choices, but in the 17 various endings (However minuscule the changes) there's only ONE end scene credit.

Just like Shepard dying in ME2. Sure it's an available ending. . .But you can't import to ME3 with it, you're forced to replay the whole game (Meaning that the other endings are canonical to the death one).

Plus with Shepard alive and the Reapers destroyed, it paves the way for a new enemy to arise in the franchise.

I agree with this except depending on your save Shep will be dead ,the body was never found or decided to go to deep space.  Shep is the new warden.

Inserting your LI into the breathing scene and making him/her turn over rubble. Shep takes a breath, LI reacts to it, smiles/shows emotion.
There, I made the scene unambiguous enough to be a conclusion.

you think they are going completely nix backwards compatibility in the next -gen consoles? IMO that would be a huge mistake.
