For some reason I like not knowing what finaly happens to Shep. Adds an air of mystery.
Now to throw fuel into the fire I could say that the breath seen was not shepard breathing. What happened was that some heavy rubble shifted causing the body to move just enough that it looked like s/he was breathing, and that s/he in fact is truly dead.

I could say that, but I won't.  Image IPB

I really don't see why Shepard surviving is such a huge issue for some people. In Control and Synthesis endings Shepard gets disintegrated, so yeah he is inevitably dead, but in Destroy he doesn't and is pretty much in one piece, so why can't he be alive? It gives the player hope that Shepard survived after destroying the Reapers. Also, BioWare has said this is the end of the Shepard story, but that doesn't mean he can't be mentioned or appear in future Mass Effect titles, for example as a renowned Admiral, like Hackett.

...I thought it was obvious. Destroy shows the Citadel in ruins but still intact, looks very city-like in fact. Shepard does indeed wake up on the citadel. He's surviving a **** load of laser/blood loss/tube explosions sure but he's still up there and tali (or your LI) knows it, thus why they don't hang up the nameplate on the memorial wall

Destroy ending shows the citadel rebuilt, so why didnt they find Shepard?

Who says they didn't? The epilogue clearly takes place years after the final battle, and the memorial scene with the crew happens before...it's a little confusing, but the parts with Shepard breathing, the crew crashing, leaving, and the memorial plaque, that all takes place prior to the epilogue showing the Citadel rebuilt.

I know this because you don't rebuild the damn Citadel in a month. That would take *quite* a while.

The scene is to illustrate that Shepard is alive. It's that simple. If Shepard died, then the scene doesn't play.

What's not to get?

Are they ever going to explain the breathing scene. Or will they just leave it so the maby can make something of it later if they maby decide that Shepard survived and make another game. after the credits the child ask for another story of Shepard and the Stargazer said yes will that be a new game? or a dlc?

Shepard is obvioulsy on the citadel during the breath scene. it is also stated that the citadel is being re-built. its safe to say they will find shepard alive and kickin when they do

If they wanted Shepard alive, they should have shown Shepard alive in the game. Waking breath or last gasp? Once they put it in the game, we'll know for sure. Since they didn't put it in the game, I say Shepard's dead.

Except the name of the file in the game is "shepard alive."

And Tully Ackland confirmed Shepard is alive in the link posted above me.

I'm maybe spammer but Please Mate, you must read this word from BioWare itself before launching ME3

'There will be no Happy ending kind like celebration, reunion of the party, or promotion' ending

they can change that part easily, but hold what they already told is hard to hold. please some of you guys who want that reunion happened just stop.

BioWare want to stay true to their words. And you still forcing BioWare out?

Awesome.  So when they put it in the game I will be happy that he is alive.  Until then, they left it up to interpretation so my interpretation says Shep's dead.  Not enough evidence in the game to conclude he's alive.  Period.  Sure, the devs may want us to think he's alive, just like they wanted us to "understand" the original endings.  Not falling for that again.  Put it in the game, or I make a choice based on my interpretation of what's in the game.  My current choice is that he's dead.

IF Bioware was going for realism in the breathe scene, they aced it.  I have been present numerous times when many of my elderly relatives have passed away, and that was a FINAL BREATH. That is EXACTLY how it is when a person gives their LAST GASP for air.

Or they extend the scene again and he takes a breath then dies. Just to screw with everyone.
