Pros:
- You can argue with the Catalyst, even choosing to refuse, not sell your soul, and bear the punishment for it. Silver lining is that a future race succeeds. Nothing wrong with that IMO. Liara's time capsule now sees a purpose.
- Control is weird and echoes the whole "mass slavery" complaint and is borderline sadistic. Also nicely plays into anyone who likes IT. Shepard is pretty crazy sounding and dead-ish (is TIMs choice afterall).
- Synthesis is either cool or totally screwed up, just as everyone was discussing (personally I think it's messed up). Shepard straight dead.
- Destroy will still turn off a lot of people, but both Geth and EDI were willing to sacrifice anything to defeat the Reapers... so I can justify selecting this based on their "blessing." I take it as an opportunity to start over with synthetics and prove the Reapers wrong. If you are uncomfortable with this, just refuse. If you expected to win by refusing, then you didn't pay attention to series... the Reapers crazy outnumber everyone... come on.
- **Catalyst and general idea of ending(s)**. I'm still not really in love with the idea, BUT they did shift the focus of the conversation from Synthetics murdering Organics to the idea of the technological singularity, which was the right thing to do. Synthetic life will surpass Organic in intelligence and evolution due in major part to the sophistication of their creators. The only way to stop it is for Reapers to destroy both (which was clarified). It is not an ideal solution, but that's the point. You can argue with him and tell him he is BS. That's why it's leagues better. When I saw the dialogue wheel... I was REALLY happy.
Cons:
- IT maybe takes a beating with destroy and refusal, but I don't want to get into that here. I didn't like the thing anyways so I don't care, but some people might.
- No conventional victory. It's a Pipedream and something I did not expect to make it in.
- Possible plot inconsistencies still exist. Haven't looked at any myself and don't plan to because I just don't care enough to pick everything apart. You can do this with any movie, Inception namely (trust me, I get it, but there are an ass load of inconsistencies in that film). Anyways, most if not all of the questions I had were answered to a satisfying degree.
- **Catalyst and general idea of ending(s)**. Like above. If you're someone who just outright rejected it, they already said you'd be disappointed. Still a bit deus ex machina - ish and not ideal obviously, but does it work is the question?
