I saw a youtube video recently with the player in Lothering wearing what appeared to be a helm like the Blackstone Traitors wear.. Brown with horns and such.  Where is this helm located and how do I get one?

That would probably be the Thane Helmet. You can get it by completing Signs of the Chasind in the Korcari Wilds

LOL I always thought those signs just led to that sword I had already found so I never bothered with them.

I suspected that was the case too, but I figured that didn't make any sense. Then, once I found all the signs, I was directed to a cache hidden in a log.
If you're having trouble finding all the signs, you should know that, apparently, some don't appear until you've found some of the others.

It's for that reason I think it's a porly constructed quest.  It basically becomes "follow the pointers on your map".  I turned off plot helpers for a reason.  I don' think quests should undo my preference settings.

Indeed. I, for one, would never have found those signs without the highlight button. I don't generally use the map for quest locations, but even so it would have been near to impossible to locate everything.

You can buy a Barbarian Helm from Cesar in the Deneriem market. It has +2 attack on it, and it's the same graphic as the Thane Helm. Sometimes the deserter in Frostback Mountains will drop Barbarian Helm, but that happened only once for me.
