So I was looking at all the EC vids on youtube (my xbox is messed up ATM) and I was so happy about it (This thread doesn't recquire your oppinion) and my Ipod was playing in the background and it was the song Indestructible by Disturbed, personally I kind of think that this song could be a theme song for Shepard. I mean obviously it's older the game but if you listen to it some of the lines make a bunch of sense. And them about 10 mins ago (I heard indestructible about 3 hours ago) the song Inside the Fire (also by Disturbed) came on, too me this seemed a TON like the Catalyst mostly because of how it says "Take the word of one Immortal" and it made me think back to how the Catalyst just acts like we should trust his options. Wether or not you trust him is entirely up too you.
After giving the two main powers theme songs, I think it's appropriate to talk about the endings, these are my thoughts on each. Please don't come to this section just to whine, there are other threads dedicated to it.
Destroy: This is my favorite ending because you did what you set out to do since game 1, you destroyed the reapers and you gave the galaxy a future of it's own. The Geth and EDI died but I believe they would have made the sacrafice to stop the reapers, I know I would have. Also Shep survives which leaves plenty of room for head cannon.
Control: This for me is a close second, The Reapers begin to help with reconstruction and we essentially win, and EDI and the Geth live! However the new CatalystSHEP is too me so disturbing, no being should have that power. Shepard just basically became almost god-like. Not to mention they have a transcended form of thought which to me seems a lot like the catalyst. However I can respect the choice it's just not mine.
Synthesis: Beside probably being the least probable (does anyone know how evolution works? cause it sure as hell doesn't work like that). Then we all start looking like Husks, this to me is just disturbing who knows what consequences it could bring? Then there's of coure the whole Utopian thing, this to me seems wrong in the sense that we just took a shortcut and we transcended, though I do like the idea of learning of all the long dead races from the reapers memories (I'm a major history nut). I think it's nice in theory but I think we gave up who we were to get there. (ooh totaly forgot, EDI gets some great really touching scenes, however in the grand scheme of things she is pretty irrelevant)
Rejecting: Too me this is the result of everyone saying "we can win conventionally" and "we should be able to walk away from the catalyst". Honestly in my mind this is the group who will never be satisfied by the game and who should have left the forums a LONG time ago, but I honestly don't think anyone should have expected any sort of victory or happiness out of this. Do you guys remember watching the reapers fighting? Remember battling on Earth? those parts show just how crazy hard to kill they are! Yes we killed a few but ok Kralos that would work maybe once, if we tried it more then once the reapers might just decide to orbitally bomb Tuchanka. The Rannoch reaper is taken down but that is the result of the ENTIRE quarian fleet all taking precision shots at it's weakpoint, and in a space battle it becomes about a million times harder, and that's only for a destroyer! Too me this is just a selfish choice to take, because you're basically saying I'll let the whole galaxy die trying to kill the reapers instead of shooting a red tube. If you pick destroy the Geth and Edi die yes, however if you reject the choices everyone dies. Not to mention Liara's time capsule gives directions to build the crucible so they'll just have the same choice as us! My last thought that I should have probably put earlier in the paragraph is that the Protheans (a much more advanced race then us) failed to win in a conventional war with the reapers, Hackett even tells you at like the end of Mars.
So I hope you guys had as much fun playing the game as I did. Please don't bother telling me how much you hate the game because truthfully I don't give half a crap.
