Maybe my aesthetic sensibilities were dimmed a little when I watched this, in part because I really wanted Bioware to succeed, but I felt satisfied after watching the EC. It still has problems and imperfections, but there seemed to be much more "heart" and "soul" in these endings than in the hollow decorations we were given originally. I felt the plot elements involving the choices was better handled, and seemed less ridiculous, even though I realize they kind of still are when you place them under a critical lens. The way I rationalize that, however, is that Mass Effect has always been competent "soft science-fiction" with beautiful dialogue and heart wrenching character development. I felt like that was still here for me in the new ending, and it was far more personalized than the original. My Sheperd thought of Thane when I shot the Crucible during destroy. I really liked seeing that, and it made me recollect on some of the awesome memories I had going through these games the past few years.

What was your take Taboo? As a fellow critic of films I was curious on hearing your thoughts.

More than anything I'm glad we got to ask the Catalyst questions. True, it wasn't perfect, but it wasn't as rushed and forced. We got a chance to better understand what we were dealing with.

I'm a little mad about the Reject ending, I felt like it had great potential, but alas.

Yup, Im totally happy with it. It was bittersweet. You died, but you saved the galaxy (or the next cycle) and you got to see how you changed the lives of all your friends.

I kind of dug the Refusal ending. Yeah, it needed a few more scenes, preferably of everyone dying in beautiful defiance, but still I enjoyed what they gave me. Having the option to say **** off was unexpected, and it's what a lot of us have been asking for, even if it wasn't as great as it could have been.

I actually admit now that the original ending seems rushed in light of the EC.  I don't like where they took the series and I think that ME3 suffered from a multitude of poor artistic decisions but the EC is a better realization of what they were going for in the original endings.  So I suppose that they must have been short on time and resources somewhere.  Still, poor artistic decisions were made.

**SPOILER ALERT**
I gotta say I was pretty depressed when I first watched the original endings, for the reasons that have been stated countless times, but man did the new ending blow me away. They let you investigate what the hell the starchild was talking about, and actually let you say "**** You" and just refuse to choose. They covered all the plotholes that I could see, and my god I cried like a ****ing baby with the scene with my LI, Garrus, putting Shepards name on the memorial wall. Anyway just saying Thank You to Bioware for restoring my faith in the company.

I'm satisfied with the extended cut. Just watched all of them. I'm going with the destroy ending over all of them, it fits my Shepard. Control just isn't in Shepards nature to become God, and Synthesis seemed weird to me, forcing everyone to become one.....

I noticed on the destroy ending that Liara (my LI) never put Shepards name on the wall and just smiled, that with getting the "breathe" scene tells me they will reunite being that she and Shepard shared a bond I'm guessing she knows he's still alive.

Overall, it's not perfect but I liked it a hell of alot more than what we were given to begin with and it's very clear that they were rushed because why didn't they just do this in the first place?

It moved me deeply. I saw the value that it added. The love and care that it needed beforehand. It felt like something completely new. It felt like the Bioware games I played in the past.

It's not perfect, but it repaired my hostilities to most things.

I actually smiled and was happy with the endings. Sure it could use more cinematic and explanation, but I think it was enough. Thanks to Bioware for making Extended Cut.

The ending I got satisfied me way more (Destroy) than the old version, I think it was all pretty good and a lot less plotholes (if any). My only complaint is that ending part with Buzz Aldrin murmering, does no one else think we could really do without that? I was a bit taken aback that it was still in. Also I kind of wished a bit more clarification on the alive part if you get it. Other than these minor flaws, I really liked it, way better than the old endings :-) The devil is in the details and they obviously clarified a lot of the choices and consequences.

Only reason I hated that to begin with is because the old ending felt like a dick punch, and that was bioware slapping me afterward (not even mentioning the DLC screen).

Good on Bioware though, they pulled it off. Just take my $$$$:o

I liked it, no reunion, but, still good. Thanks Bioware.

You know... I thought about the whole no reunion thing and to be honest... I'm fine with it.  If Shepard lives and everyone else lives then we know there's going to be a reunion.  Ultimately if they were to show something it'd probably be a still image like other parts in the ending, so I doubt it would stand out as overly memorable.

Plus I'm a big believer that it's important to still leave things to the imagination (which can be a hard thing to decide where to draw the line on).  For what it's worth I thought that much was done tastefully.

I thought there was no was in hell I could be happy with an "altered" ending over a "changed ending" but they managed to do it.  I'm not completely happy with it... starchild was still there... but god they worked it in like it was all supposed to be there.  You sons of ****es did it again. I feel so happy I just want to hug everyone. Even the people that are still upset. (I get it I'm still upset too) but I am damn impressed at how bioware handled this. And I'm not going to lie. I want more Mass Effect and I want it now. If Bioware can learn from this, they might just be able to hear me shout "shut up and take my money," again. Regardless of how you feel about this... "hugs"

+2 for positivity, and cheerfulness.

And I couldn't have phrased it any better... thank you!

I wanted to add a few things.

I really enjoyed the EC. I was pleasantly surprised that Bioware was able to fix things.

There are still things about the ending that bother me (ie. Control & Synthesis shouldn't be options, but my head canon simply decides that those are insane ramblings and don't exist; why doesn't Harbinger shoot the Normandy out of the sky?), but all in all, I'm satisfied. The ending as it stands now ties up the series nicely and doesn't leave me feeling betrayed. The option to flip off the Catalyst was just icing.

Patrick Weekes deserves a massive bonus and a promotion to Lead Writer of Bioware's next game. That man wrote arguably the best mission of ME3, and somehow managed to pull off a miracle with the EC. He saved the train wreck that Hudson and Walters caused. Man should get beer and a vacation.

That said, any future game with Casey Hudson and/or Mac Walters' name(s) on it will have to be beyond amazing to even get me interested. Even if I think it's worth buying, I'm waiting for fan reviews before doing so.

Thank you Bioware for fixing your mess. I can go back to enjoying Mass Effect again.

What happened to our squad?

Fixed :)

Control ending was (to me) one of the more interesting of them all with the explanation given to you by the catalyst as to who or what you would become.

i actually kinda like the reject ending. no deus ex machina crucible thingy... in the end the reapers really were the foe they were built up to be...

sure, eventually they were defeated, because of what we did, what Shepard did, and what Liara recorded.

to me... its kinda like Shepard, via Liara's time capsule, sorta took on Javik's role... the last voice of humanity and instrumental in the eventual defeat of the Reapers. it felt... right.

I think the one thing I had a problem with in the new (destroy) ending was the fact that nobody seemd to acknowledge the destruction of the Geth. That seems like a big deal to me... more so than the loss of any individual such as Thane or Mordin.

I dont really know what I think of those extended endings. I didnt like the original endings but it didnt made me unable to start new playthroughs.

Synthesis and control looked fine to me,Destroy, well I just wished that we would have got a little bit more infos on shepard, something as small as just seeing her contact the alliance would have been enough for me,I would at least know that she was able to contact her LI and friends in some ways. The refusal ending was actually not a bad one, depending of how you see it: In life, you have to make a decision, you cant just refuse to do anything, otherwise, nothing is gonna change. Other way that I saw it was: I decided to die free, dying knowing that I didnt destroyed those who helped me,dying knowing that I didnt made myself a *god*(possibly) or forced people to be stuck with syntethics tech inside of them.Refusal is not a ending I would choose in future playthroughs but I get how some people would be happy with it.

So overall I am *okay* with the EC, I was already okay with the original endings since I acted like they didnt exist. So for a free dlc, that is fine, not sure I would have paid 10$ for it,good thing that it is free :)

Edit: Oh and they removed the line about destroying the mass relays, I think that was really needed to remove some plotholes and make the future of the galaxy look brighter. They are damaged but not beyond repair!
