I kind of dug the Refusal ending. Yeah, it needed a few more scenes, preferably of everyone dying in beautiful defiance, but still I enjoyed what they gave me. Having the option to say **** off was unexpected, and it's what a lot of us have been asking for, even if it wasn't as great as it could have been.

I loved the refusal ending too! It made me crack up! Shepard was just fed up and her expression was hilarious. I think Bioware was allowing us to throw a tissy fit but all in good taste. Well played Bioware. Well played. I picked this ending first and got the anger out of my system before checking out the destroy ending.. then picking Synthesis. (The most beautiful ending in my opinion)

I really enjoyed it. Happy and surprised. Can't wait to actually play through the game again as renegade now!

Seems as if they got a 50/50 which is a shade surprising cause I noticed some of it seemed a little lazy, but there are reasons for that. (omega) : )

Good for the 50% that feel redeemed and Bioware can cash in on the DLC now I guess.

I did the exact same thing. Choose refusal than destroy immediately after. Destroy is still the best for me I think, but Control was actually pretty emotional too. Synthesis, I don't know. The EDI lines were actually really touching, but the premise, even with the utopian scenes, kind of sketched me out. The idea itself is still like, kind of ridiculous to me too, but it's soft science-fiction and I just accepted it without ****ing this time around. It's not exactly "galactic molestation", but it is a change that sort of defies my own moral compass.

I agree, OP, and that's all I have to say on the matter.

I chose Destroy; Tali was my love interest, and I had 95% Paragon with 6000+ rating. The EC brought me everything I was hoping for. The touching, sad goodbye between Shepard and Tali, an explanation for some (not all, but enough for me to be alright with what didn't get resolved) of the plotholes, and an ending I can feel good about. Plus, Shepard survived. It doesn't get much better than that.

Some will call us Bioware fanboys and fangirls for being happy with the EC. Let them. I'd rather feel the satisfaction I feel right now than the bitterness and anger they're experiencing.

Thank you, Bioware. You've redeemed yourselves in my eyes and gave me back Mass Effect. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You did the impossible, and that makes you mighty.

endings still suck, albeit slightly better then normal endings.

all i wanted was some ****in answers what happened to my crewmates, instead we got a slideshow, how the **** is it possible that EC was a 1.8 gb download.

That is a good point. It is a little creepy. I'd be lieing if I didn't say 80% of the reason I like Synthesis is due to the fact that it just looks cool. I liked the creepy eyes and green tint.

I think the one thing I had a problem with in the new (destroy) ending was the fact that nobody seemd to acknowledge the destruction of the Geth. That seems like a big deal to me... more so than the loss of any individual such as Thane or Mordin.

I think that was because with the new Destroy ending the ultimate fate of the Geth and EDI is left somewhat open. We know of course that they were destroyed, but in discussing the effects of collateral damage on synthetics the Star Child notes that anything destroyed by the Crucible could be potentially rebuilt. So this at least leaves open the possibility of Geth 2.0 and EDI 2.0.

In that I think the EC Destroy Ending is more hopeful than the original.

I completed the Destroy ending, and I was satisfied with it. Might even go so far as to say that I liked it even. I would have loved for the Shepard's breath scene to actually do something more, but other than that I really don't have any complaints.

Mass Effect 3, for me, has been restored. I just don't understand why it wasn't like this to begin with.

I liked the ec endings, being able to argue with the starkid was the biggest + for me. The original ending made me wonder if my shepards nuts fell off. Now he seems more like the guy that i spend all this time playing with. I was very suprised at how much I liked the new endings, some things are still unresolved but for the most part well done bioware! I think it also helps that i didn't have much confidence that they could make it work. I was expecting a trainwreck but it turned out ok. of course to peops who where expecting golden toilets and unicorns, they might be a tiny bit dissipointed.

While there are still flaws with it, I was overall very happy with the EC endings. I was a touch surprised when my tradition of shooting the starchild in the face triggered the Refusal ending, but highly amused. I flat out loved the Destroy ending, and got rather choked up and teary as Hackett got to the parts about remembering the fallen and the crew gathered around the memorial.

Synthesis and Control...... creepy. very creepy. I'm not sure which disturbed me more: Sheaper's inevitable descent into madness, or seeing the husk get hit with the green glowy and knowing that some poor bastard just gained sentience as a husk.

I agree OP, here come the haters though, you know those people who had decided they would hate it before it even released.

I hated it a few hours ago.. so I get it.

How did you go from hating it to being happy with it in a few hours?

I swing between being depressed, meh, and outright hatred.

I definitely think the EC is a vast improvement. The normandy makes a lot more sense, and people aren't teleporting to the ship randomly. It's not stuck on a random planet forever, and the galaxy isn't raped quite as hard by the relays getting broken. Those are nice. I do think it was a nice touch, if surprising, to have the reject ending activate if you just shoot the kid once.

I'm still disappointed that there isn't an actual happy ending. My shepard is stuck choosing synthesis, where you avoid genocide but instead force a really substantial choice on the galaxy...basically raping everybody, which isn't nice. Plus breaking a promise to a girl. Vs. destroy, where you maybe keep your promise but destroy a shipmate, friend, and entire race(s) of beings. Legion was a great friend...doesn't feel right to **** his entire people so hard at the end there after all he's done.

It also seems dumb that you still can't call the catalyst out on the organic vs. synthetic war is inevitable and will lead to destruction thing when you just made peace between geth and quarians, though being able to question him a bit does help. So improvement, not perfect. Sucky choices still suck, but at least make a bit more sense now.

What happened to our squad?

We'll never know.

This alone kind of ruins it for me.

What happens to any character of anything after the movie/game/book ends? Closure isn't following them to their graves. The point is, we know our squad is safe flying away from the planet on the Normandy, and we know that everything including the relays gets rebuilt relatively quickly.

In short, the possibility of a squad reunion with Shepard went from zilch (relays destroyed, Normandy kaput, apparent symbolism that new planet is their new home) to 99% guaranteed, with the 1% being, like, the rescue crew on the Citadel trips over some rubble carrying Shep on a stretcher and he smashes his temple against a sharp rock.

In the old Destroy ending we had these downsides: relays gone, Normandy gone and crew stranded, geth and EDI dead, allied fleet apparently stranded in Sol or needing decades of difficult/dangerous FTL travel to get home.

In new Destroy ending we had these downsides: geth and EDI dead.

The Mass Effect universe as we know and love it was saved. That is something we could not say before.

Aside from fixing my two major complaints about the relays and the Normandy, the EC also added small touches that I was not expecting but loved. The new final goodbye scene between Shepard and Tali is gutwrenching in a good way, and seeing Thessia/Tuchanka soldiers celebrating as the Reapers were destroyed ruled.

After finishing the EC tonight, I did exactly what I did after beating ME2: started a new game.

I thought there was no was in hell I could be happy with an "altered" ending over a "changed ending" but they managed to do it.  I'm not completely happy with it... starchild was still there... but god they worked it in like it was all supposed to be there.  You sons of ****es did it again. I feel so happy I just want to hug everyone. Even the people that are still upset. (I get it I'm still upset too) but I am damn impressed at how bioware handled this. And I'm not going to lie. I want more Mass Effect and I want it now. If Bioware can learn from this, they might just be able to hear me shout "shut up and take my money," again. Regardless of how you feel about this... it's awesome when you generalize people. Bravo

You do realize that the ending is not flawless right? Even to the point where the EC opens more plot inconsistencies?

The EC is in no way flawless. It adds some positives, but it also has drawbacks

Glad to hear it. I've been saying for weeks now the ending is good but apparently people need to see everything so the EC did just that and now majority of the haters are switching sides. It feels good. I loved your post.
