Anyone with a mod for more practical looking mage robes?

Heh, this is really kind of a silly request in one sense but it alaways bothered me playing mages and wearing those long semi-flowing robes.  Why can't there be be mage clothes where I dress like arl eamon or some such.  I realize this is a long established fantasy standard (made prominent by my own favorite fantasy author Tolkien) yet the robes really seem pretty counter productive to trapsing around the wild.  Even though Morrigan's outfit may not be the most practical either at least she wears pants instead of some sort of movement impeding skirt thingy.
As I stated, purely a cosmetic and kind of silly issue but it would be nice if I could have my mage just wear standard pants and jacket clothing, never liked the look of the robes.  For all the power my mage has, he just never looks as cool as my warrior. Posted Image

its not silly at all im working on (just sketches so far ) of a robe and a wizzard hat but the robe im thinking maybe might have to see if i could add the stats of a helm to the armor/ robe so it could be a hoodie just some ideas so far but not bas ones i think. ill start some sketches of some pants for ya i havent finished the game yet and dont want to mess with the toolset seems like it messes things up a bit oh and there are some clothes just like als i cant remember where i got them from but i have a set exactly like the arls i have them stashed in chest at wardens peak so what you want is basicly already there

I downloaded a mod today that contained Blood-mage robes, very OP, but still, there they are. There was one robe there that was included that was more of a tunic with pants, and it was similar to Eamon's vestments.

It shouldn't be too difficult to create something like that, you can draw from resources of other clothes and re-texture them. Creating completely new content, however, would be a bit more of a job. Depending on what you want, it could be fairly simple.

I enjoyed wearing light armour through the AW specialization when I played my first playthroughs on console. (Only bad thing was the fatigue).

So do you want new clothing with robe-like stats using other models (like those from other NPCs) or do you want new clothing /created/ from scratch?

I was looking more for something fairly simple myself. Just modifying existing clothing with mage-robe stats. I guess I should look at the toolset myself and watch a tutorial or three. I've just never been one to mess around with toolsets or modding tools in the past. Still wouldn't hurt I suppose to give it a shot.

But yeah, I just don't like mage robes in principle, so modified existing garmet sets would be excellent. Obviously if someone took the time create a nice looking mage-wardrobe from scratch that would be interesting to check out, but I certainly was only thinking of existing items.

If the goal is to have regular clothes available in game with stats useful for the mage on them... it's a bit of a work-around but you could probably create them in game using the Winter Forge mod? http://social.bioware.com/project/672/

There is another mod I've found, you can look at it Here.

Maybe that's what you're looking for? I'm sure I'm going to try it out!

Was away from playing DAO for a couple weeks, got back on tonight and used the mod you pointed me to, it was in fact EXACTLY what I was looking for.  Thanks much for the heads up!

You can take a look at my character, but that robe is for my personal use only.

Your robe is one of the best I've ever seen, but... You already know that :P That's why we've met! LOL
