This kind of closure was all I ever wanted. A much larger chunk of in-universe science explanation and history, as well as great closure and a wonderful sendoff.
I thought some of the plot holes were somewhat plugged in a hamfisted fashion, but I can get over it because at least you addressed the Omniscient-Hackett and WTF Joker?! bits.
Sure, I would have been happier if this were the way you guys did this originally, but I was patient, I am understanding, and I am satisfied, especially the little touches like how some bits of the Shepard-Lives ending differ from similar scenes in the other paths.
All I have to say is... thank you. Thank you for listening, thank you for adapting, and thank you for acting on it.
Sure, it is only an aspiration to what could have been if it were perfect in the first run, and yeah it isn't a flawless patching up, but boy was it ever one hell of a go and a lot more than most do when fans raise their torches and pitchforks.
I am also very, very proud of you guys--Bioware--for not giving in and retconning everything. You have, as a team, taken what was one of the greatest controversies in gaming history and turned it into one of the most amazing comebacks ever, and kept the series glued together nice and strong.
EC - Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you Bioware.
Thank you for taking the time to make a real ending. Adding in the extra scenes. Explaining what was happening. Explaining what did happen. Giving the fans everything we asked for while not compromising the story you wanted to tell.
Thank you for leaving me SATISFIED at the ending and not empty and confused like last time. I couldn't even say why I was so bitter and empty my first play through. I couldn't give words to my discomfort. And to be honest while I could see the points other fans made, and agreed with most of them, it still didn't explain how I felt about your ending. Until now.
I realize that all along my discomfort was due to the first ending being a fragment of an ending. It was rushed. Lazy. Incomplete. It was an end, but not one the series deserved. It was just over, with a couple of scenes that didn't do anything for anyone.
This EC ending is so much better and is worthy of your efforts. I don't know why this wasn't the way the ending was in the first place. I don't know why you thought that ending was a worthwhile finish to this series you put so much work into.
And you did put a lot of work into this series. A lot of effort and creative thought. Then... there was the original ending. You should have been just as unhappy with the first ending as the fans were.
Yes, the fans cried out. We acted like horrible people demanding a better ending. People acted like they were OWED a better ending. But you know what?
You owed yourselves a better ending. You really let yourselves down with the original ending, and your stellar work on ME1, ME2 and most of ME3 deserved more than that.
With the extended cut you did everything you should have done the first time, and gave a fitting end to a fantastic trilogy. Whatever happened to cause that original ending... I forgive you. Mistakes happen.
Now you can move on with PRIDE that you told a good story. And with this EC I now fully believe that it wasn't the story that was bad (sure there still are the whiney, entitled fans who do not deserve the Mass Effect games that are still crying about not getting what they wanted) but it was your original implementation of the story that was bad. Not the story. And you fixed it. So good job. And thank you.
Seriously. Thank you. You've restored my faith and put out a quality product this time.
I look forward to the next title in this universe.
