And kill one of the most emotional death scenes in the game? I like Thane too but no thanks.

Im not saying thane should die. im meaning it seemed clear bioware would kill off characters and chose thane because it was an easy option. same as the other deaths being linked to story arcs. i brought up legion because he was a character a lot of people loved, yes he wasnt an li but its still a relationship. his death is also forced no matter what choice you make and the endings make his death seem pointless. i agree thane was cut way to short but i just cant see bioware creating a dlc for him.

How is it an easy choice when they flat out tell you in the 2nd game he's dying? The only problem was he was done so well as a character it's almost impossible to ignore him. ( I haven't seen many haters for him so hey I could be wrong )

it was the easy choice because he was dying. i liked thane a lot a found his conversations on the normandy probably the most intresting. but i felt if they players needed players to have death in me3 they would choose thane because they could say he was dying anyway and got a great sendoff, whereas if they killed anyone else in that way they woildnt have a ready made reason. thats just my opinion and he was in my top 4 fav me2 characters

I played ME 1 - 3 many times, all DLC and still dont know why people like Thane so much?
Can it be that 90% Contributers in this thread are female?

When Kay Leng killed Kirrahe. That was so unnecessary, i wish Thane was there.

You cant just bring him back. One of the most emotional scene was his death. (For Me)

And he was dying in ME2 anyway. So in 3 he didn't have much longer to live, hence when he said his doctor got his death date wrong.

An option won't take that away from them, it will just simply provide us what we believed in.

Legion wasn't an LI. Try again. I didn't grow an emotional attachment to him. Why would I?

So your argument is that because you care about Thane he should stay alive, but you don't care about Legion so other players don't have the right to demand for his life and they should shut up about it.

For the record, I am disgusted by how they treated Thane's romantic story-line in ME3 and my faith in Bioware would receive a major boast if they released a DLC that expanded on the LI's that got shafted.

We have address the "Thane was dying, so he should die" speech many times. Check back in the thread if you are curious to see what the other view points are.

Thane did die of his disease. He couldn't fully recover from the stab wound because of it.

Want more one liners from me?

Yes, how pointless one liners are. Derp.

But apparently we aren't winning the popularity contest. So have no fear, we will never get that option. We fall into the less important catagory.

Squeegee, thanks for that. And I understand where you're coming from. Sure, it's good to try and get people on your side.. but honestly, what percentage of them actually change their mind? A very small amount. Also it doesn't really seem to be working on a larger scale. I think it's time to stop playing nice and make an impression in a sea of jerks by yelling louder.

this thread really start to hurt.

let me make it clear once again. i can understand why for you, just a friend, his death was alright, really. i've played my kaidan faith pt first and it really fits in this case. but just in THIS case even if i don't want him to die (especially not for the salarian council, where he's replaced by kirrahe if you don't talk to thane before). it's hard for me to see, that you're not able to get away from your view of the game.
as i said right before, yes, for friend it was well done, really, i'm totally up with you, but when i came there as a romancer, i was shocked. there was not really anything more for us, there was no mentioning. you can neither ask him about the refused lung transplated nor the new possibility for blood donation that cerberus found. you cannot ask him about the future or the happening topics, you just has this stupid 3 question that every unknown person would ask him. it does not feel like love anymore.
and you don't get us. we just dont want a fully cure from kepral, thats not the point at the moment (even if this would be better) we just want him to be saved from kai leng, we want more content.

so, yes, i want a dlc for my karin, for my shepard whose love always has been just Thane and no one else. Thane helped me to a hard time in RL and even i was prepare to see him dieing i was shocked how it went out. i was shocked that my karin don't do anything. that was not my shepard anymore.

when you romanced him, he came up to your cabin, desperate and said he does not want to die, he was awoke and wanna be there for shepard and for kolyat...dropping the ball really hurts. he had more potential and was always more than the dying man.

please try to get the sitution out of our view. how would you react, if you dont have the chance to save liara, kaidan, ash, tali, garrus or who ever. Thane and jacob was the only LI which are forced to break up, they are the only one that have to end. we don't get any romance content, we just end up, seeing how thane seemed to forgot everything, that he got from us. that hurts quiet bad.
you don't have to get the dlc, but please, it's a game of decision and there seemed to be one planned, because of what the doctor said.

so tell me, why would it triviliazed your game, when it becomes a dlc, you have the CHOSE rather you wanna save him or not. you can let him die again. it won't change anything. you had the choice, we did not

i care for legion, i also care for jacobmancers and understand them, even if i actually don't like jacob. i really don't but he always seemed to be the loyal one and then he betrayed shepard with brynne? yeah, nice, really nice...
i really grew to all of them and i can understand the anger of all the me2 li's. i can understand why samara, miranda, jack and jacob were unhappy, even if i would never romance them, i totally understand. i also understand kaidan and ash mancers complaining...
in compare to liara, in my opinion, every li get less importance. it seemed like liara was everywhere. she was the only one, trying to comfort shepard, yes, but i don't want her to.
the two times, in the LotSB where she said "do you really wanna replace his death wife" and the one where she tries to get my shepard back really let me hate her. can she not accept, that i found a new one? why am i forced to chose her or the VI, why bioware, do you want me to leave my me2 li?

Did you flunk your elementary reading lessons? Because it honestly seems that way, given that you apparently can't read anything that's already been said in this thread.

We want an option. Let me bold it again and underline since you need some help. Option. In the same way you have an option to save:
Mordin
Tali
Miranda
and Jack

If any of the above died in your game, why the heck does it "ruin" it for you if someone chose to save them in their game? This is an RPG. If you want a shooter with a straight story where every player has to experience the same damn thing, there are plenty of them out there. Why do you even care about what others experience in their games. If you want Thane to die in the same way, you should have the option of that too.

Trust me, I am on your side. I would love to see a DLC where the situation with Thane changes if he's a LI because he actually went after those transplants and researched other options. And even if he did not survive in the end, his sacrifice is acknowledged by the other characters and Traynor does not start hitting on you right away as if you did not just lose the love of your life.

It just pissed me off that the poster got so caught up in her view of what should happen, that she shot down what other people might want.

Hey hey, there were instances where a cure for him was implied. In the shadow broker files, by Thane himself, and news article about new medigel for the lungs. Oh and Bioware officially supported the Cure Thane campaign. Thane's writer in ME2 did not know what direction they were going to take him in.
Translation: It was open-ended. There was obvious hope. It could have gone in either direction. However Bioware forgot he was an LI, retconned romanced Thane at the last moment, and threw him against Kai Leng because he was there and they were too lazy to make more content for him. Also since he's a Femshep exclusive straight romance, who gives a crap anyway? Female gamers aren't worth anything.

thanks, i really appreciate that and sorry if the tone of my post was a bit...well...unfitting but i'm quiet desperate at the moment. i faught for it for about 3 months, stand against lot of attacks, even convinced some people, that his death was not necesssary.

No of course not, if you want to go fight for Legion's survival, by all means.. do so. I'll even support you. But comparing a non LI to a LI is going to fall flat for me. Do you understand what I am trying to say? I can provide a much more deeper outlook on it, but if I can avoid going through A-Z with it, it will save time.

It seems to me the best option would be to add conversation markers early in the game that flag whether he lives or not as a LI. Like being able to encourage him to keep fighting when you first meet him in the hospital. If you loved the emotional impact of the death scene or somehow thinks the storyline would be cheapened by him surviving, you can keep that, but this way a romanced Shepard would be able to built on Thane's character development in ME2. It would not have to be a miracle cure that makes him all better, but at least gets him to a state where he's able to survive the encounter with Leng, even if badly injured.

The scene was great for people who didn't romance Thane, but there was barely a few lines of difference for people who did. And then barely a word is mentioned by anyone afterwards about Thane until Shepard guts Kai Leng, which the people who saved Miranda got anyway.

I already made a few posts on this thread, people are now quoting the last post I made because I didn't go into epic detail about it. I half expected it. I knew the moment I posted it, it would be the post I would be quoted on. The other posts I made, no one said anything. So if you follow what I been saying, this last post just connects to it. I addressed it on a larger scale hours ago.

yes, this would be the easiest option...and i think the best... you can have it in every variation, and it depends on how you talk and dealed with him, weather he's willing to fight or not.
we knew so many cases right at the present, where a human survived a bad injury just because of his will, why should that not work for a drell? thane has i strong will i believe and if he want to fight for kolyat and shepard, to at their side, it would be finde, he could manage it to be alive...
and i also cannot believe, that kolyat was the only drell on citadell able to donate blood. there is such a strong connection between hanar and drells, why don't the hanar bring drell with them? as friends, as companions, i cannot believe it...

but it was a CHOICE, you could, you have to decide if it was worth it and as you renembered mordin was a lot older than salarians ever get. maximum was 40, mordin was 50 years old, so as you comming from this, mordin has not much time left either.

Sorry about that. I suppose I am much more harsher nowadays due to the fact I am running a campaign. I can easily put up a wall, so its may bad. I don't want upset people like yourself, especially when you are keeping an open mind. Thank you. :)

Just a little fact check. At the time of ME2, its assumed that there are very few Drell left at all. There are even at the very least  about 10 Quarians in existence to Each Drell. So in a Galaxy, I imagine that anywhere other than the Hanar Homeworld, that it is very unlikely to see a Drell.
Don't get me wrong, I felt that it could have been treated a lot better.
