Seriously the bad ratings are just stupid. The endings were bad but come on, the rest of the game was great. Giving it a bad review just because of the ending is stupid.

With a game like ME3, the story is the most important part. The endings ruin the story (and even the lore established in earlier games), and therefore ruin the game (and if you were to apply it's implications to ME1, ruin that too)

I hope that Mass Effect 3 retains its fairly low rating on Metacritic.

Not because i dislike the game - i absolutely loved it - but because it might show review scores for what they truly are: worthless. That a group of whiny, petulant children were able to drag such a highly polished and engaging and fun game down really does demonstrate this.

They are well within their rights to dislike the game, but anyone that gave it less than a 5 isn't in posession of an opinion worth listening to.

One of my favourite games had its sequel cancelled because of a low Metacritic score (Alpha Protocol) so anything that discredits the concept is a good thing by me.

I would if rated in the first place but the internet is so full of trolls and unforgiving people that it would literary cause them pain to do otherwise. Don't even bother.

Extra downloadable content, free or not, shouldn't be factored into the game's review score. Epecially since this one will stop being free in a few months. The score should reflect the vanilla, fresh out of the box experience.

Never. They deserve that, let it serve as a reminder to them not to advertise things they will not make true. The EC did not fix the fact that it's a unimaginative, copy-pasted ending that doesn't fit the series.

Implying that in ME2 there were multiple choices and in ME3 barely none - it's only what the hater would do.
The choices don't matter in the ending? True.
in ME1 you had barely any choice. Like two major choices - save/kill council save Kaidan/Ashley , and really nothing more.
But you're implying that choosing the fate of entire species (Krogans, Geth, Quarians) is not a choice and there's no room for role-play
you have to be extremely dumb. Thy is why i reduced RPG elements to gameplay. Because if you really say that there are no major choices in ME3 - you're silly.
GO PLAY RISEN 2 OR GOTHIC 4. They have better metascore than ME3 , so GO.

Lolwut?
Yes our choices didn't matter.
But did you seriously just state that ME1 had barely any choice? Lolnope.
Aside from the excellent Tuchanka and Rannoch arcs there is liitle to no choice and auto dialogue kills role playing.
I don't understand what you mean by your fourth sentence. Clarify?

Tuchanka and Rannoch and the quests that were part of them were awesome. The rest was poorly done.I have no idea why.It is like they took a good enough approach.

Some people should not have power for a reason.

Eh 5.1 ... I'm happy with them keeping that as a Metacritic Score...

When people tanked it with 1's and 0's I did think that was over the top.

But 5-6 Score is fine, It's like giving a movie 2.5-3 stars out of 5 ... You might see it anyway because 2.5-3 doesn't mean it's terrible, and it has every chance of exceeding your expectations and being alot better then the Stars it was given.

I personally don't recommend BioWare games to anyone anymore, but in the ways of Metacritic, a 5 score for ME3 is perfectly fine and valid IMO, doesn't need bumping up at all.

The only reason that it would need to be improved from 5/10 is simply because other games are rated too lenently. 50% is an ok mark for me. The gameplay was good (combat etc), the main story was not (overall plot - crucible, lack of dialogue choice, limited interaction with team-mates, side quests). I'm sure there are other things both good and bad I've missed.

So yeah 5/6 out of 10.

+1.

Let this be a lesson to all game developers. Later retcon does not get you a free pass on being sloppy and contemptuous.

Whether you hate or love the EC there is one thing beyond a shadow of a doubt that it proves, and that I think everyone can agree on:

The original vanilla ending was just plain insufficient.

It's not like re-doing a game's ending occurs often but I don't see why the Metacritic score shouldn't include scores from both pre and post EC; it is possible not *everyone* is going to see or download the EC.

I'd personally would rate it a bit above it's current 5.1 if not for the way the Refusal ending played out. Yes it's cool that we get to reject the Starbrat's choices now but whether they intended it or not, I felt as if it was a not so subtle snub to the fans which was totally unnecessary.
"Don't like our artistic vision? Well fine take this!" lol

It should have been right the first time round, for that reason I wouldn't change any previous scoring.

it seems alot of people are satisfyed with the new endings. i know alot of people trolled the game on metacritic because of the ending...and i know metacritic isnt the end all be all thing...but i think if we boosted up the user score that would show bioware they succeeded.....so if you loved the ending and didnt wright a review...wright one...and if you trolled the game before but love the new endings...fix the score.

i think bioware deserves it.

5.1 is fairly close to my opinion of where Mass Effect 3 should be, post DLC. (6.0)

I think it should stay where it is.
