The most important thing EC did in my ending was reinstill hope. Hope for a brighter future has always been a big part of what the ME universe has been about. And even though I had the Shep breathes scene before EC there wasn't a firm narrative around it to let hope grow.
Now I've seen Hackett making good on his promise to rebuild, if we can rebuild the Citadel we can rebuild the relays. Sure I would've liked to see a slide of Shep with the crew after the breath scene, but Bioware gave enough for hope. Miranda (LI) looking up at the sky waiting for Shep to come find her, Zaeed and Jessie just chilling, and finally Garrus/Liara just walking up to the memorial wall and not being able to put Shep's name up and smiling because some part of them still felt and knew he was alive. Then the next scene showing the Normandy jetting off made me think of Garrus pulling Shep out of the rubble in the breath scene almost like the ending of ME1.
Sure, Destroy saddened me for the Geth and EDI but I still harbor hope they can be ressurected in some form. After all we did kill EDI on Luna once:whistle: And Like Hackett said, now that the Reapers are out of the way who knows what we can accomplish? Maybe the Quarians rebuild the Geth and ask them to help rebuild Rannoch. With Destroy the sky's the limit.
I certainly wasn't going to validate the points of the past two games' villains by picking Synthesis or Control but Refusal intriuged me. I wish EMS could've added an additional ending where Shep actually wins conventially but I guess BW doesn't think that possible.
How cool of an easter egg would it have been in the Refusal ending though if it's in the bunker with Liara's hologram and the camera just slowly zoomed onto a dusty stasis pod with an N7 logo on the bottom and then cut to black?
