Wait, how can they even know Anderson is dead and not Shepard? They weren't that damn far apart. Some further searching would have found Shepard, too.

I was wondering about that too...

imho this is really not the kind of story for a Disney fairy-tale ending. I was fine with the implied reunion... It gives hope and leaves it up to the imagination. Of course I would have enjoyed a Shepard and crew reunion, but it's not that big a deal

Do you mean why his name is on the memorial? I don't think they KNOW, but I think they are assuming both dead since they went into the beam and armed the Crucible, and then the Crucible and the Citadel area near it was destroyed.

And they assumed that Anderson is dead, but not Shep? And they went for a search... YUP, it's flawless logic.

Ok, i dont know it was said already but i am sure that in shepard lives ending reunion wont happen only if normany crush again. No matter on what planet they will arrive they will surely find out that shepard is alive. (it is said that people will repair everything, so propably comunication will be priority)

I don't particularly mind not being reunited with my LI, but I do kinda wish that, whoever the LI was should have put your name on the memorial wall (I had Jack and Liara put it on), or at least been there teary or something. At least she was at my grave though!

There would be a few logisitical issues with that. Jack being on Earth and the memorial being on the Normandy which was crashlanded on some uncharted planet.

Considering the stuff that happens in the end, I doubt it would take much for your LI to be picked up with your squad. They were all in Hammer and not far away (the living ones anyway).

Even if it was people searching rubble before her breathing scene would have been nice since everyone needed to leave earth space. It shows other ships didn't get affected or as effected as the Normandy but from the destroy option we know they should have been affected and if no one is near the citadel then how do they back to her in time before she bleeds to death or starves. People searching for her would have been nice at least they can find her and heal her and keep her alive until reinforcements come and then when Normandy gets back they don't have to search for her. Or over intercom on Normandy an announcement from Hackett that Shepard is found alive!

And yet everything points to Synthesis being a happy ending.

They DID assume Shepard was dead. Hence the fact that they took his plaque and were about to put it on the wall. It's only your LI that has an inkling and hope that you aren't.

I thought it was fine, you get to say goodbye to your li at the beam. Though i suppose Miri and Jack romancers got shafted...

You don't put someone's name up on a memorial wall without confirmation that said person is dead.

Now that's even worse. For me it means nobody tries to find Shepard in time. I assume they find his/her dead body somewhat later, yeah I have CLOSURE now.

They didn't put it in because they said that they wouldn't CHANGE the ending, only EXPAND it in the EC. A LI reunion would be a change in the endings, since all endings except the "perfect destroy" ending (with the breath) have Shepard dying. For those who got the breath, they can simply assume that there is a reunion- considering we now see the Normandy leave "Gilligan's Planet".

The amount and quality of LI dialogue you get in the last 2 missions of the game are pretty remarkable. While a final scene/slide would have been nice, nobody should feel cheated.

Uh, seriously?

ME2 LI's ring a bell?

Um, no. It means that in the immediate time following the Normandy landing, they have every reason to assume he is dead. People are still going to search the Citadel and they will find him. Jesus Christ people are dead set on interpreting everything negatively despite the obvious implications of the ending that it works out.

Well, then they should put said reunion into just the breath ending, obviously. This really isn't rocket science.

Also, they did change the ending. Mass relays are no longer destroyed, no?

I would have definitely liked to see the reunion, but maybe in addition to "the player imagining the reunion on their own" angle, it's also not shown to keep some balance in the endings. If Shep reunites with the LI and lives happily ever after in the good destroy ending, it puts it pretty far ahead of the others IMO. There's nothing wrong with having a "best" or ideal ending, but it may overshadow the actual choice that BioWare wants us to make; destroy, control, synthesis.
