Said this in a similar thread but absolutley not. It reinforces bad practice on BioWares part and will encourage a similar sort of thing in the future. I still love the work that has gone into the three games and the EC makes it (somewhat) bearable for me. I look at it as not letting the crappy work of a few (Casey and pals, I'm looking at you) ruining good work by everyone else. :-)
I get where you;re coming from, and I somewhat agree, but I take a more nuanced, subtler position.
Giving people an awful ending, then haivng them buy a proper ending as DLC is bad business practice. I wholly agree with that. Which is part of why I fought for RetakeME3.
However, I feel that with the EC, RetakeME3 has somewhat succeeded, in that the endings that were part of the game, have been augmented with enough emotional depth to make them worthwhile eindings of their own.
Which changes the situation somewhat: Instead of having to buy DLC to get a proper ending, replacing the bad endings that I got, I get to have an emotionally satisfying ending with the game, and when I buy DLC that expands my story and adds more hours to gameplay, also get another bonus in an extra ending. One that isn't better, or worse, than the ones I already have, just different. Like "Build-A-Figure": if you collect all the DLC, you get an extra bonus in a new ending. Again, not a better one, just another one. But the precondition for this HAS to be, that the already existing endings have to be sufficient on their own. And before the EC, they were not. Now, post-EC? I can live with them.
