Now that the EC is out I am curious how other people will answer this question and have a discussion on it.
Simply put, do you actually wish you had never played Mass Effect 3?
Did the good outweigh the bad?  The fun outweigh any disappointment?

I asked this same question a few months back and I didn't have an answer at the time but I found others thoughts very interesting.
After a while to reflect and finally seeing the EC I think have an answer.
Yes.  I wish I had never played ME3.  Personally speaking the pain it caused is not worth the enjoyment it gave me prior to the endings and though the EC filled a few minor plot holes my issues with the ending were more fundamental in nature and were not addressed.
And perhaps more importantly I just cannot enjoy the first two games any more.
If I had never played ME3 I am sure I would have replayed them many more time but as it stands I find no enjoyment in them any more.

How do you feel?

Not at all, other than the ending (which I didn't overly mind in the first place) I had a absolute blast, the characters were good, the romance between most of the crew were excellent (Liara's still being my favourite). That 99.9% of the game that gave me hours of entertainment and ultimately put a smile on my face mattered more than the end in my opinion, and now with the EC I finally got that sense of closure. So no, I do not wish I never played it, not for a second.

Definitely not. Mass Effect is truly unique. The intensity of the emotional attachment to the characters is something I've never experienced before. This game made me feel so many emotions at the same time and it has even made me shed a few tears ( I can't say that about any other game). I've enjoyed playing every minute of it and I hope there will be more minutes in the Mass Effect universe in the future.

Regarding the ending, I probably would have done some things differently, but overall I can live with the outcome. The ending is still 'open' in my opinion, so who knows what Bioware will bring us in the future.

I only wish that I didn't experience the original ending. The previous part of ME3 is much better than ME2.I can say without ME3,ME franchise is far from kotor series. Now with ME3,they are on a same level.

Don't forget Baldur's Gate, that reached rather epic levels too.

I personally hate it when people say: The endings were bad and they are still bad.

The whole Mass Effect Series was the best franchise I've ever played.
The original endings were good, but the EC endings are Super.

I hope there comes a Mass Effect 4. I can't wait for it.

That's a tough question.

Honestly I didn't like the majority of the game. With the exception of Grissom Academy, Tuchanka and Rannoch, I thought the missions were poorly designed shooting galleries and the less said about the eaves-dropping side-quests the better.

Unlike Shadow I didn't enjoy the endings originally, they were vague and filled with plot-holes. With the big choices, which should have resolved in vastly different ways, being shown with virtually identical cinematics.

I didn't hate Mass Effect 3 but I did wonder where the game series I fell in love with five years ago had gone. I had no desire to replay any of the trilogy.

Yet as the old saying goes "people will forgive almost anything if the final act is great." The Extended Cut changed my opinion of the endings entirely. It's not perfect by any means but it clears up what needed to be and made each ending truly different.

Bioware made me interested in playing the series again.

So after that wandering ramble I'll answer the question. Yes I do wish I hadn't played Mass Effect 3 because I wish I had waited until now, with the Extended Cut in place, for the ending the trilogy should have had in the first place.

Hell no, ME3:EC is probably my favourite in the series.

I've gone from hating the endings to loving it. I couldn't face another ME play through with the old endings now I've seen the new ones I've started playing ME1 again just to do it all over again!

I wish it hadn't been what it was. What it is.

I wish I had played a better game.

But in the end, I don't think I'd wish to not have played ME3.

It is what it is. The parts that I liked are experiences I'm glad to have had, and now I have some hope that I'll be able to experience them again in the future.

Not at all. I didn't find the endings drastically bad to begin with. I never got "pained" over it because its just a game. I loved paying it, interacting with the characters, shooting the crap out of reapers, etc. I'm still addicted to the series (I've been replaying ME1 for the past few months). From what I've heard the EC is pretty good, so that's just a bonus to an otherwise fantastic series.

Every gaming series has "worse" parts, things people overlook because everything is so damn good. mass Effect will be part of my gaming life for a long time to come.

I could never, not in a million years, say that i regret playing Mass Effect. Although the EC endings are a tremendous step up from the original ones, I still dislike them in principle. My headcanon still applies (which is a version of destroy ending where Shepard firstly calls Starbrat on his bull****, survives the aftermath, reunites with what's left of his crew to say goodbyes and eventually leaves with his LI never to be seen again).

I do regret playing Mass Effect 3. I let myself get hyped over how good the last games had been and the ending was such a major disappointment to me that I find it almost impossible to get excited about games any more. I don't regret playing Mass Effect 1 or 2, but Mass Effect 3 was such a huge let down that I honestly wish It had never existed and the series had stopped at 2. The extended cut hasn't really changed my opinion on this at all.

If they had never done this extended cut the flat out answer would have been yes, I most definitely did regret ever even touching the first Mass Effect game. Now that the endings are "expanded" I say no. But all that hate I built up against Bioware and the writers of the "end" whose names need not be mentioned (also mainly since I can't remember their names at the moment, but mine as well make them equivalent to Voldemort or however you spell his name) isn't going to disappear because of the extended cut release. UNTIL they do an interview with someone from the retake movement and maybe even acknowledge that the original ending did indeed suck. I don't even need an apology since making someone apologize for making something that was god awful is unnecessary since their creation being god awful is punishment enough, but at least say YES IT DID SUCK. Or maybe yes it did kind of suck... Anyways though, thankfully the new extended cut has brought bioware products back within willing to purchase range and now I can sit here and become semi-excited about DA3 (although not too excited since just in case).

Simple answer: Yes.

I should have backed more kickstarter projects with that money.

I would have donated even more to Wasteland 2.

And I personally hate it when people say the endings were good and are even better now. The whole Mass Effect franchise is terribly overrated and just a lot of B movie writing.

Absolutely not. Just playing through the last 2 hours of the game to get to the EC endings reminded me at once of what a brilliant series of games ME is, including 3 despite its ups and downs. There is nothing like ME in the galaxy, and its my favourite game on the Citadel (what's left of it).

In a way, yes. There were some good sections(Tuchanka, Rannoch, for example), but there were so many things wrong with ME3(big one being the Appearance Import issue) that killed or drastically lowered by enjoyment of it.

I'm content with believing ME2 was the last Mass Effect game and then imagining that ME3 happened off camera with a happy ending and the Reapers defeated. Yay for Shepard building Tali a home on Rannoch or settling down with Ash.

Welcome to the 21st centurry where with the invention of the internet everything is overhyped to the extreme no matter what it is. To Mass Effect being a B movie, that should be no surprise to anyone, still there are B-movies which are great or good and there are somes that are just okay or complete ****.

I think Mass Effect is great a being a B-movie sclock like Star Wars was in writing. We as humans and geek fanatics, we elevate everything to the next level.

The ending was my only real issue with ME3. Now that it's been rectified, I consider the game to be damn near perfect.

Of course not, I've gotten hours and hours of entertainment out of this game (100's of hours in SP and even more in MP). I think it's time to let go of the constant negativity towards the creators of a videogame and find another source of entertainment for yourself.

The spiral of negativity in some of the posters here is starting to reach unhealthy proportions.
Log off from the boards, go enjoy yourself with something else.

No, the ending was horrible, but still I did get lots of enjoyment out of the series. And now with the EC, I love the whole game, the EC fixed the biggest issues with the ending for me, and I am satisfied. What I wish is that they released the game like this in the first place, it would have saved me from some depresive feelings over the ending. I envy a friend of mine who has not played the game until now, so he will never experience the bad versions of the ending.

Tough question. I really disliked the endings, and knowing EC is the final ending, I actually do kinda regret it. But I still loved Tuchanka and Rannoch, so yeah, it is a tough question.

No. It's an awesome game. But under the microscope we've put it through, I think we've hurt it enough. When I first played it, I spent 3 days from morning to morning playing ME3, why? Because it was ****ing great.
