It's kinda sad to see people who aren't able to enjoy something for what it is. Granted the Original Cut of ME3 had glaring, lore breaking plots holes that potentially ruined the franchise, people can't seem to get over the fact that Harby didn't shoot down the Normandy.

This is the age old "Why didn't the villain just shoot the hero immediately?" arguement that's been around forever. Is it a plot hole? Possibly yes, but it's not a plot hole that's worth raising a fuss over. You're thinking way too realistically about this. You could go back all the Mass Effect 1 to where Shepard fought Saren on Virmire, and ask why when Shepard was knocked to the ground did Saren toss away his gun and decide to choke Shepard, when he could've ended it right there? And whatever excuse you could come up with, do the same thing for the Normandy pick up scene. That's all it takes is a little imagination.

I loved the scene when the Normandy picked up Ashley and Garrus. It filled the Squad Teleportation plot hole for me and it created a heartbreaking scene between Shep and the LI.

I didn't - it broke the flow which was there previously....

You don't charge the enemy and suddenly go....oh wait....this will be just a moment....

....ok.....just a moment....
.....yes....bye....
....ok I'm ready now....CHARGE!

It seemed out of place at first but to be honest I can forgive them for that as it gave me a proper chance to say at least a small goodbye to my LI.

Agreed... partially. I do find it strange Harby didn't blast the Normandy on sight (Reaper IFF or not he's gonna know his main enemies flagship when he sees it) but at the same time why didn't the Reapers just close off the Citadel in the beginning if it was so easy to do towards the end. But yes, I did enjoy the scene because it set up, for me, a final closure with Shep's LI. Problem is I still chose Destroy and lived. I like what they did with the hopeful not putting his name on the memorial thing, but I still would like to see an LI reunion *crossing fingers for post-campaign DLC to address this*

To be honest, I thought the scene on it's own was fine, but the whole time I was thinking 'why isn't Harbinger shooting at the Frigate floating right in front of him?' and 'Why doesn't the Normandy lay into him with its cannons?'. For a few seconds, I thought the pickup scene would be used to explain why Harby goes away (Harby chases after the Normandy).

They kind of replaced one WTH moment from the original ending (how did the squadmates get back on the Normandy) with another one (Harby doesn't see the Frigate that took out the Collector ship as a threat?).

I liked it to the extent that it explained something that made absolutely no sense previously and you got to say goodbye to your LI.

What I didn't like was how absolutely, unbelievably jarring it was to the flow of the final run. It really should have been done before you start running down the hill and had a much better reason than 'Oh no, I'm slightly wounded! Let's call a frigate out of the rather outmatched Sword fleet for a medevac!'

I mean yeah, complaining about Harbinger not shooting it is a bit much, you can put that down to plot armour etc, but when there's a perfectly decent spot to evac them 2 minutes prior that allows you to use a far more intelligent reason you should really take that one.

Why is the Normandy pick up considered a plot hole . The Normandy was not advancing and if harbinger focused on the Normandy even for a moment he runs risk of soldiers going through the beam

I actually liked that scene way more than I thought I would, and if nothing else was accomplished by the Retake movement, I'm glad we got that scene was put in. I still would have liked a ME2 style ending better, but if Shepard has to go it alone, you need to explain where his/her teammates went.

That's because talking is a free action.

Did it make sense? Not really, but I thought it was great. To be honest, I was afraid they might kill my squadmates to cover the "transport" plothole.

IMHO this scene was very much needed for many of us, including me.

I take it that EC is now except RGB is cannon. Honestly I wish didn't see the first beam run. This new addition fits in nice to me. Saying goodbye. So yeah, I loved it! /rant

I thought it was oddly convenient...I mean here we are in the middle of the biggest battle to ever take place and the Normandy which for whatever reason has hardly ever been able to pick us up/drop us off specifically where we needed in the past, is suddenly able to come down to get us. Never mind the beams going everywhere, which has luckily for us decided to stop while they come down and I say my goodbyes...

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, putting that aside the scene itself was rather nice. I liked that I got to say goodbye to my LI and the whole moment was rather sweet...although I did crack a smile during it...Kaidan was pulling some rather funny faces, lol. It's like they were trying to make him look as sad as they possibly could and I think they went a little overboard haha.
Ahh, maybe just me. Image IPB

The scene itself is nice... but where and when it happens is just too awkward to get over.

It's like Life or death final charge -> Squadmates get hurt and then Shep yells time out! and then everything just conveniently freezes, even Harbinger, who just stands there in the background like a lemon. It's pretty ridiculous.

I appreciate that Bioware were trying to fix something a lot of people complained about, but what they added adds more problems

I screwed mine up by taking Javik.

Although it was kinda cool seeing him show emotion.
But I would have preferred someone else.

Ah well...next playthrough.

Darn, I didn't take my LI with me. All I got was a good bye to EDI, which seemed like a massive waste of time considering Harby was shooting everyone and Shepard is kind of in a rush to get to the beam.

It seemed really out of place.

As a Kaidan L/I shep, the normandy pickup scene was my favorite part of the EC. Easily.

I actually had a bigger problem of why the Normandy doesn't use the kick ass Thanix Cannon I installed on it in ME2! If Joker even briefly engages Harbinger about 20 people make it to the beam and the galaxy is saved. Why make the Normandy just fly away?

Hell, they recorded dialog of Joker shooting Harbinger, why not make the bloody scene?

It did seem out of place, but I can live with it. It was an emotionally engaging scene and a last chance to say goodbye to your LI. It was good. Wouldn't be the first time I overlooked something like this. Everyone hopping onto Normandy Shuttle from ME2, anyone?
