It was a touching moment but I was bothered that Harbinger did not blast Normandy out of the sky

You see Harby also got emotional and thought "Go! Save yourselves little creatures.".

The Garrus LI goodbye was so lovely. I really loved that scene even if I was wondering why Harby wasn't killing anyone. <3

I did not like it because it spoiled the run to the beam and also broke what was said before that they needed a handful of people to get to the beam at any cost.

I think some of you guys are giving Harbinger waaaay too much credit. I mean, you're talking about the dude who preferred to talk **** through someone else's body rather than swooping down and incinerating you with his laser. You also have to consider the fact that he shot at you during the beam run and MISSED each and every time. Maybe there's a reason why he's always on the sidelines. Not a very... hands-on Reaper?

That aside, I thought they did a good job with this scene. Image IPB

The scene itself was good, but it didn't make sense. Shepard risked losing the Normandy just to get 2 squad members aboard. Joker landed the ship right in front of Harbinger. But thanks to space magic, Harby didn't shoot throughout the entire cutscene.

It was a bit stupid but I liked the fact you can say one last goodbye to your LI. Hearing that last message from them was very touching :P

Loved it for finally hearing Garrus say he loves me. Yes, it was stupid and nonsensical, but what Bioware gave me from it more than makes up for how silly it might seem.

i liked it but given how close it was im not sure why we didnt just fly to the beam in the first place

i also hated that the last thing my living shep gets with the li is a goodbye. It works well with a dead shep but living shep makes me sad its the last os aw of her

This. Shepard even looks over his shoulder as it shows Harbinger just sitting there completely oblivious while all this is going on. Then as soon is the Normany is gone, Harby is back to shoop da whooping like he never stopped. The whole scene was actually pretty insulting to be honest. There's suspension of disbelief and then there's impossible. Harbinger not only not shooting at the Normandy, but not shooting at anything around the Normandy is not even remotely believable.

One of the most ridiculous scenes ever. Garrus willingly leaving you. Not to mention the GIANT reaper boss standing no more than a mile away watching it all happen... I wtf. A Collector ship can target the normandy in planetary distances, and harbinger cant threaten the normandy from within city limits... god that made me so freacking angry.

Garrus (or whomever is wounded) leaves you because they are seriously wounded and have lost a lot of blood. As an example, here is a screenshot of Liara in that scene:

Image IPB

All that purple blood on Liara is her blood, as the Asari bleed violet. If a romanced Garrus, Tali, or VS in that scene instead they are just as seriously wounded. Considering the amount of blood loss without immediate medical attention they could potentially die from shock (the biggest killer on the battlefield), if not the from the effects of the blood loss itself. Additionally the more seriously wounded squadmate could not even get aboard the Normandy without being partially carried aboard. He or she is in no condition to resume running for the beam, and would have just been killed by Harbinger.

As for Harbinger not firing at the Normandy...

It isn't all together implausible. During amphibious assaults landing craft or amtracs are often evacuating the more seriously wounded while the beachhead is still contested, and make multiple trips under heavy fire. So the evac itself is not unrealistic. That being said part of what makes evacs during an amphibious assault possible is the safety in numbers aspect. The enemy can destroy some landing craft or amtracs but can't get all of them. So with that in mind the evac scene would have probably worked better with other frigates and fighters making a run at Harbinger to provide a distraction for the ground force.

But even so, I think Harbinger not firing at the Normandy is still plausible considering that he had more immediate concerns with tanks, gunships, and dismounted infantry being much closer to the beam, and with the Normandy evacuating wounded and not assisting directly in the push. There are plausible reasons why Harbinger may not have put a priority on shooting down the Normandy at that moment.

Well put together man, +1... by the way, the scene is heart breaking, i dont care about how unrealistic might be, I needed that moment...
