The moment is filled with emotions though. Really painful to let Tali go, and I was really hoping Shepard would finally say that he loved her when I clicked the "I will always love you" option.

Why is the Normandy pick up considered a plot hole . The Normandy was not advancing and if harbinger focused on the Normandy even for a moment he runs risk of soldiers going through the beam
Because Harbinger can fire multiple beams at once.

I don't think it takes away from the pace at all. It adds to it. You have new cinematics that show Makos tearing up trend and trying to get some ground, you got guys just hauling ass down the hill and getting thrown around, airborne vehicles flying through and exploded above you, etc. You just got seperated from your teammates who are now injured and cornered in this Valley of Hell. Gotta make a call. They don't look like they can run and if they just sit there they won't last the next five minutes. Bring the Normandy in. Could it get shot? Yeah. No time though. Gotta hope Harbinger is focusing on forces closer to the Beam. You get your guys oboard and you decide that now that they're safe, you're gonna make a run right now the center in hopes that you distract that big ass Reaper ahead so that the Normandy can get out.
I'm good with it.

It really gave me another look on the love relation between shepard and harbinger!
Cuz, you know, the whole "i can't shoot shepard that's taking forever right in front of me to board a spaceship carrying injured squadmates simply because i wanna make reaper babies with him" thing really hit me in a soft spot.
True story.

This was absolutely fantastic. Made the entire EC worth it by itself.

I screwed mine up by taking Javik.
Although it was kinda cool seeing him show emotion.
But I would have preferred someone else.
Ah well...next playthrough.
Best part of EC, I can now say those words.
Well said.

Harbinger not taking at least a couple popshots at the Normandy.
A shuttle instead of the Normandy would have been much more realistic.
Not evacuating any of the other wounded was like a big FU to all the other soldiers.
Mostly, for me, was having Garrus and Javik with me. Baring unconsciousness, neither of them would have left the battlefield no matter what. Way out of character for both.
Way out of character for Shepard to make the evac call. I could sort of see him having a breakdown if he/she has LI along. But then again why would you bring your LI given the low probability of anyone even making it to the beam, let alone all of them?
Sorry, I can accept cheesy now and again, but that was just too much.

Here is what Harbinger was thinking:
Harbinger: Go Shepard go!!! Enter the beam before the StarBrat notice I am slacking!!! You are the examplar of victory and you are not only fighting for the civilizations of this cycle but all civilizations of eons past! You are the only organic with the Paragon/Renagade interrupt power that can break its Indoctrination power!!

It is a lot better than the very boring part on the Citadel until TIM dies.

Since there was no way they could explain the plot hole, they chose a satifsying emotional conclusion. It's an acceptable substitution.
