Only if you assume that the Destroy ending takes place in chronological sequence. If you don't, you can say that, after landing on Planet Paradise, first thing the the crew did was a memorial for Anderson and you, only thanks to your LI, they decide to postpone yours until they actually found you. Flashback to Shep taking a breath just as he wakes up.

Similarly, I take the Control ending to take place years and years into the future, maybe millenia. having a sense of being truly immortal isn't something you gain voernight, not even after a few years.

Not only this, but if the Normandy crew knows Anderson is dead, then they must be in radio/QEC contact with Earth. When your LI looks up hopefully it could be an actual message that she(he) is hearing... "We found Shepard! She's alive!"

The entire "point" was to stop the Reapers. Full. Stop. BioWare had said all along that this would be the last "Shepard" Mass Effect game, so frankly, I fail to see where all this outrage and shock over Shepard's death can be coming from.

For you, not for me.  The entire point was for me to play a video game that was both entertaining and made me feel good.  Those are the kind of games that Bioware had previously made, and those are the games I like to play.  ME3 failed to do that.

"This is the last Mass Effect story featuring Shepard" is somehow... ambiguous in what's going to happen, is it? I am shocked, SHOCKED, that with all the hints and pretty much flat out saying that Shepard is going to die before the game is released that Shepard died in the game!

SHOCKED!

Geez, people are taking everything so literally.

"Shepard took a breath? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!"

They provided a "maybe Shepard lives, maybe Shepard dies" ending

Freaking BIOWARE, the people who wrote this, wrote...

You may notice that in the “Shepard lives” ending

The final word on rather or not Shepard lives wrote...

This is meant to suggest that the love interest is not ready
to believe Shepard is dead
, and the final scene reveals they are
correct.

So, the Shepard Lives ending, designed by the people who decide if Shepard lives, is called the Shepard Lives ending by them, where the people who assume that Shepard lives are shown to be correct.

AMBIGUITY!

What is the point to continue follow the series?

I mean, bought new DLC or new books... what is the point?

No matter how good you were in ME1/2, how much of EMS you reunited... Shepard dies no matter what.

I think that is time to say goodbye to this series and bioware as whole.

There were many awesome years , without a shadow of doubt. Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2  and Mass Effect  3.

But I can not see a single reason to continue following the series and lost confidence in Bioware.

Thank you Bioware, for everything. Farewell.

since you didn't see the breath scene then your ems was too low or you never went 'red'
you play a few MP games to get the 50% up ? If not then my guess that's why you didn't see shep live and all of his or her LI's pause and neverr actually put his name on the wall. Other endings it's posted but not on destroy.
then get this kinda smile and don't post it and 'scene'

You guess wrong.
I have 8000 EMS + 100%
The Breath Scene + Li Holding the plate....isn't enough... it's nothing. You can't be sure. Leave to us to imagine what happens next? It's so mean... it's wrong.

Also, someone in another thread is saying that the name of the file for the movie where Shepard breathes is literally called "shepardlives".

And since they didn't care to clarify that ambiguity in the game, and left it open to my interpretation of the game, Shep's dead.

My Shep is living in Vancouver with Samantha in a house with a white picket fence, a dog & two kids. They vacation at the beach with Garrus & friends and live off the royalties from the vids :)

I knew that this current trilogy will tell the tale of Shepard and Co. and that there would be no more Shepard based storylines beyond ME3. Killing off Shepard I only find acceptable if the player didn't invest enough in the character and game to keep him/her alive, otherwise he/she should live. It's just completely unnecessary for Shep to HAVE TO die and somewhat lame since we already went through the whole Shep death thing. Adding weight to a story doesn't mean the hero has to die in the end. I would have loved a future Mass Effect game where Shep Jr. goes see aging old mom/dad to ask for some advice or something.

If they had paid Lance Henrickson to voice that one line in that one scene, it would have been enough

Yes, but that's not the author's intent, that's you being spiteful.

Shepard lives in destroy (high EMS) and becomes a God in Control! Becoming a God is better than living or dying if you ask me! But, I will always stick with Red. Shepard needs to reunite with Ashley.

shepard lives if you destroy the reapers and with high enough ems XD

Yes and they make a special point of your LI knowing it as well, During the memorial scene if you got the 5K+ Destroy ending,  instead of slapping your name on the wall like the rest of the endings, your LI stands there hesitating to go through with it because they know you arent truly dead *That's if they're on your ship afterall, Tali, Garrus, Ashley, etc*

This one is my own, its terrible quailty and horribly clipped, but you see my point

Destroy- You can live.
Control- Sure you die, but your memory live in and the AI is pretty much you in God form.

My God-Shepard used his powers to write an ending that wasn't bad.

TC, those are my exact thoughts. Does it make sense than in a series about choice there's no way to have Shepard come out on top with his crew? Very disappointing to say the least.

You don't get a video depiction of it, but as token as the gesture is, The Destroy ending does try to be as "rainbows and butterflies" as possible,

This is coming from someone who was ready to vomit at the base ME3 Endings. I wanted to "see" My charachter "return home" so to speak. But Im being reasonable and while it wasnt perfect, It'll have to do.

After Seeing the Control/Synth edings with their memorial/funeral and the whole Shepard Name tag thing going up,
I was replaying the video I had recorded of my original ending *Destroy* and I noticed there was one particular thing different about it, Another seemingly token and insignifigant gesture but meant something much greater

Everyone standing around the Memorial wall Moping and Tali standing in the center quietly with Shepards Tag, generic sob story material, then she walked up to the wall but took a step back and then just stood there like she was hesitating, staring off at the wall and then fade to black.  It was stupid I didnt notice the difference the first time but I was just like to myself

"Oh sh**, she knows, she knows hes alive"
and then of course you get the trollish breath sequence confirming that.

*I of course knew about the breath thing beforehand because of getting it before EC, And my EMS Was like 6700*

All I can say is the Endings are what you make of it, I'm sure a lot wanted to actually see it on their screen, but under different terms, sometimes it isnt so bad to fill in the rest of the blanks for yourself,  honestley its no different than any typical movie. in fact if it were a movie you'd hear a lot of murmuring in the cinema during those last moments, and then when you saw the breath half of the people watching would say aloud "oh my god".
