So, after the new extended cut scene I think it's pretty obvious that Harbinger let's you live. He's obviously "looking" at you when you are rescuing your crew and he is obviously "looking" at you when he shots the final ray. Either this is incredible clumsiness by a probably billon year old reaper that has probably killed trillions of people or he "wants" you to get to that beam. Why he want's that? Lot's of speculation from everyone. Although that "leviathan of dis" dlc might bring a lot of answers. Hope Bioware made this on purpose...and address this issue.

What do you think about it?

I think he just went to the storm trooper school of marksmanship

It's an interesting thought, but then why would be fire a laser at Shepard at all? I think that fact makes it obvious he wants to kill you, personally.

Yes, I don't think this is an oversight, to be honest. He does indeed look directly at it. I think this will be answered at some point in the future.

Perhaps he only want's to disable you, harming you or making sure you wouldn't leave the crucible alive...

I find it very hard to believe that the reaper "boss" is unable to kill just one guy when he has probably killed trillions of people, i'm pretty sure that between those trillions there were some people just amazing, brave and cool as shepard.

I think he wanted Shepard dead, personally.

He lets the Normandy go, because his quarrel is not with them, and that last laser beam of death seems to be a personal act of vengeance. He waits until it's just him and Shepard, and then he unleashes all of his wrath on the person that caused him the most inconvenience.

So, with that being said, I just see Shepard's survival as a stroke of luck.

Or a writer's clumsiness. I think they put that together rather quickly and really wanted that "How the heck did the squadmates with me wind up on the jungle planet?!" question to be answered in some way that makes sense. So I think Harby slipped through the cracks a bit as they worked that scene in.

I think the Normandy was immune as Liara's plot armour enveloped it. Only possible explanation :P Well, at least in my case as she was on the ship. If she was on the ground and was one of those evacuated then I got nothin'. I can't see why Harbinger wouldn't just shoot the Normandy as soon as it was anywhere near.

It's called an RPG moment, one that is entirely unrealistic (in game of course) and will never EVER happen again. Like when you meet up with Liara and she can suddenly one shot cerberus agents (even in hardcore mode!!) and then never does it again.

Maybe EDI took something off EVA that made her unable to be stopped during important experiences.

That's a bit different than the main antagonist ignoring the protagonist even though they're only a few hundred feet apart from eachother. Especially when the antagonist is an omnipotent machine god.

Nah uh, I'm a screenplay undergraduate and the direction is extremely precise in that moment. That is not an oversight and it certainly isn't clumsiness. There were many different angles that could have captured the Normandy escaping the scene. Harbinger deliberately ignored the Normandy.

For what reason? Who knows. It could very well be explored in the Leviathon DLC earlier in the game if Harbinger does indeed turn up in it.

This.  A tiny part of my brain was trying to point out that Harby could have taken out the Normandy there and then, but the rest of me me was cheering.

NO more ending content so this seems pretty silly.

although i actualy like the idea

if it is explained it will be in pre-ending dlc and that would just be stupid and  kind of spoil the moment i think
