Just as long as it isn't Fabio, you know, the guy who blocks the army camp from you for no good reason.
On second thoughts, let it be him. And give me the option to stab him in the eye!

Well, Avernus is also a living GW.
Is Avernus technically 'living'? I couldn't quite figure out if he was halfway to being DA:O's equivalent to a Liche.
He is more alive than Wynne at least.

He is a hard worker at least, most would have given up after a first hundred years. And this he done while fighting the oh so inevitable taint. Take that rest of the GW!
30 years my butt.

I disagree. It clearly will be Random Soldier B.
I scoff at your Random Soldier A theory.

Think it is a bit weird that they would let us do it as soon as after Lothering considering we only just sort of came from Ostagar (via the wilds) just beforehand. Hope we get to see more of the place rather than just the sections we've seen already. Though I imagine if the King's armor is involved then we surely must be able to venture down to where the battle was (possibly?)

That would be a cruel joke, a fellow survivor escaping captivity being a mabari lol.DM Veil wrote...
Well they did say that this would be another chance to recruit Dog to the party so am I alone in thinking that's the sole survivor?
I bet its King Cailen it has to be!! or may be one of the chantry sisters.... I would leave her there if it was one of them.

I reckon that Ash Warrior leader with his Mubari. Found it kind of weird he was flagged as lieutenant in the game considering there is no instance where you fight alongside him. So this gives them perfect opportunity and of course as mentioned can bring in the '2nd chance to get wardog' situation.
the bandits in Lothering pointed oout that some ash warriors passed by the city, without stopping.

It is clearly Sandal's half brother, Boot. He is capable of forging the most powerful types of Weapons and Boots, which he used to give to Sandal to enchant with magical powers!

True, but the notes on the 'Return to Ostagar' page say you need to go to Bann Loren's Lands on the north west border of the Bannorns (so just a bit east/north east of the circle tower?) where I imagine the 'Survivor' will be?

What, you mean Flipflop (Sandal's other half brother, see avatar) has another half-brother to meet?
That reminds me, need to have pics of Flipflop stood next to Sandal in camp, took some of him when they were in Lothering, just not done any whilst at camp yet.

my vote is for the red headed elf whom you can convince to give you a sword, and is being berated by the ash warrior.
Arg not Pick, he's in the running with Cammen for the title of dorkiest elf ever.

Now that isn't nice. Fabio played a very important role. Without him we'd be under the impression that Cailen didn't really have an army, just cardboard cutouts. That he dresses up with Loghain. That's why they spent so much time in a tent together and wouldn't let you visit them much.

But it can't be Random Soldier B! He was killed by Random Solider C, remember? You see him die right before King Cailen does his crushed tin can impersonation.

The more I think about it the more I wonder if it might be an Ash Warrior... We got to meet them, we got a codex about them but we don't hear about them in any other part of the game except when you talk to the bandit at Lothering. Either one of them is a survivor or maybe another DLC dealing with Ash Warriors. N as some others have stated you do get another opportunity to get dog if you didn't before n so that leaves either the Kennel master or one of the Ash Warriors.
Or as someone else said maybe the only survivor is the dog but hmm how would he get you information about returning to Ostagar...

Who says it has to be someone you've met? Even though Morrigan says the army was wiped out, there are at least two Ostagar veterans you meet in Denerim not counting those who were with Loghain. So I doubt the army was killed to a man, otherwise how did Wynne and Uldred return to the Circle afterward, or the chanters and the Reverend Mother?
There are plenty of Ostagar survivors you run into in game, or who are mentioned. (like the Ash Warriors fleeing north from Lothering) I agree that the survivor doesn't necessarily have to be someone that we've already run into already, since it is likely thousands fled the field.
