I ask this question because I was watching the Control/Synthesis endings and wondering.

Do reapers passively initate Indoctrination at all times? I mean we've seen people become indoctrinated just by being NEAR reaper tech, which is unintelligent. They were indoctrinated by being inside a DEAD reaper!

So following my line of thought, if indoctrination can't be turned off then in Control/Synthesis we have everyone working side by side with the reapers in close proximity.

Does EVERYONE become indoctrinated? Is that why Control/Synthesis results in "peace"? Because EVERYONE is now a mindless husk that Jesus Shepard forces to be happy through indoctrination?

I would guess the tech is active at all times, but the Reapers' fields are passive and can be triggered at their will.

Well, conscious reapers certainly have control over the "strength" of their indoc field, chances are they can shut it off too.

Can't say for certain though

The question is, would they want to? Everyone in the galaxy is now willingly working in near proximity with them. It's a free win...

In Synthesis all things are now "one with the Reapers." -- Indoctrination is no longer even neccessary.

The Reapers seem to be much more segregated from the population in Control, which is fortunate. No idea if Indoctrination is ongoing in the Reaper carcasses in Destroy, though.
