I'm interested to know what gear people went for on their characters. I tend to go for nicer looking gear first, abilities second, but fortunately in this game you don't necessarily need to choose between one and the other.
My char (Mage/Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage)
Weapons 1: Spellweaver/Silverite Crow Dagger
Weapons 2: Staff of the Magister Lord
Head: Rock-Knocker
Torso: Warden Commander Armour
Gloves: Warden Commander Gauntlets
Boots: Warden Commander Boots
Amulet: The Spellward
Belt: Anduril's Blessing
Ring 1: Key to the City
Ring 2: Lifegiver
Obviously I went for sheer power, but I tended to only choose stuff I liked the look of too.
What did you all use, for which kind of character?
Choice gear for the discerning Grey Warden.

My character is my typical uberdex female warrior. I was INTENDING to use the character for play testing Arms and Armor, unfortunately bugs getting the game to even SEE the changes means I've got one bizarrely equipped and spec'ed character.
Anyway, the most noteworthy piece of equipment I'm carrying around is the Family Sword. When you consider its bonuses, despite the fact you get it at the VERY BEGINNING of the game it actually still matches up decently with the other 1H swords. The +1 damage keeps it right up there with some of the higher-tier 1H swords, and the +4 attack bonus is nothing to sneeze at, either. It just lacks the crit and AP of the top-tier swords.

When I played as an Arcane Warrior/Mage I used pretty much the same gear. Exception was the Green sword that I got from a quest and Wade's superior dragonscale armor.

Human Noble Warrior has Warden Commander gear with the Helm of Honnleath, Fadewall and Starfang.
Female City Elf Rogue has Ancient Elven armour and gloves with the Cadash Stompers, the Dead Thaig Shanker and I think the offhand weapon is one of the Thorn of the Dead Gods.
Edit: Sorry, the matched pair are the Dead Thaig Shanker and the Thorn of the Dead God.
