Leliana and Morrigan. Either works for me, to be honest.

Anyone from Origins would be great. Maybe Varric from DA2. Merril if she wasn't so annoying and an obvious Tali-like character. Isabela if she actually had anything interesting to say. I don't think Anders will be back since I killed him.

Basically, anyone from Origins and Varric.

I want an intelligent darkspawn. Awakenings introduced the Disciples, an intriguing take on the darkspawn. It could be the character from the end of Awakenings (The Messenger), or a new one we've never met before. I'm all about this.

Also, I don't want to have any of our old companions (from DA:O, DA:A, and DA2) become companions again. I like that each hero has their own circle of friends and allies, with no overlap between them (excepting Anders, of course). But I DO want to see cameos of all of our old companions, referencing their status since we've last seen them, based on the decisions made in the imports.

Edit: Would be nice if dead characters stayed dead this time. Just saying.

I really hate that Warden guy. Not because he's badly designed or anything. He looks awesome.

But in DA:O and especially DA:A, they showed us that Wardens just wear whatever cobbled together armor they could get their hands on.

Then, in DA2, we see that no, Wardens in fact have a sort of "regulation armor", with the cool GW logo across the chest plate and a unified color theme.

Now, in DA3, are we going back, and saying... "No, nevermind, back to random armor for Wardens". Ug. MAKE UP YOUR MIND.

Now, I may be overreacting. That's just concept art. It may that he's not actually a GW, and Gaider was just using that as an example, or something similar. I dunno. But if we have a major character who is a Grey Warden, but does not wear a Grey Warden uniform, I want an explanation, dammit.

That could just be the Orlesian version of the Grey Warden armor. The people of Orlais love to make a big deal out of their attire lol.

a Chasind, 1 or more Kossith (female if one, both genders if more then one), more dwarves (at least 2), a Mabari (cuddly little doggies!), Elves, Oghren, a Fex, some kind of special mage (maybe one from Tevineter), maybe Merril and Varric.

You have to remember that in DA:O and DA:A, that the wardens in Fereldan had just came back into Fereldan not too long ago.  On top of that, after Ostagar, the Grey Wardens pretty much lost what resources they had so having the warden and gang not wearing Grey Warden regulation armor does make sense.  In DA:A, the wardens are in the process of rebuilding.

Mhairi's Ghost (or something to that effect)

....?

Just a random idea I thought up, while I was thinking of companions I would and wouldn't like. If we could have a companion of my choice, it most likely wouldn't be Mhairi, in any form.

If they don't include Cullen as a companion for DA3, I'll be very surprised.

Personally, I don't care as much. I would like a female kossith Tal'Vashosh and/or Saarabas, as we don't see enough of the kossith/Qunari/Tal'Vashoth outside the male devout military branch (Sten, Arishok, etc).

I would also like more dwarven companions. I've noticed that Bioware tends to include only one dwarven companion per campaign (Oghren for DA:O, Sigrun for DA:A and Varric for DA2), and they are NEVER romancable. I would like to see that change. I would especially like a romancable female dwarven companion--shake things up. Also, a Kal-Sharok native would be nice.

Other than that, more elven companions are always welcome.

Actually, an Elven Circle mage/apostate instead of just a Dalish Keeper's First, as I feel their stories aren't being told enough. So far, just about all mage companions have been human (Wynne and Morrigan for DA:O, Anders for DA:A and DA2) or Dalish (Velanna from DA:A and Merrill from DA2), and I think it would be infinently fascinating to have someone like Eadric or Sketch, who always had to deal with the double-prejudice of being a mage and an elf in a non-magic shem's world. If not the protagonist (knock on wood), I think that aspect of Thedas society would be great to explore in much more detail in a longer game, especially in the middle of a mage/templar war.

... Hm, I guess I care after all. ^^;

Actually, Oghren was in both DA: O AND DA:A. Plus Sigrun in Awakening makes two. I agree that there should be a possible dwarf LI. Maybe Sigrun makes her return, and that they also take my idea of Nevin from Tapster's Tavern being a companion. They did it with Merrill, why not him? He's a random former NPC, and he seems like a nice enough character. He's even got combat experience, though he might be a bit too old - maybe he has a son born a surface dwarf, with a reason to get out there and fight. As with Izzy, he met the Warden at one point, and you could be as nice or as nasty you want. That could be reflected in his initial conversation with the new protagonist, plus if we get to see the Warden again, we can bring him along.

I'm happy with either as an LI, but I would like at least 1 more attractive female LI or a grey area male LI.

I'd love to see Gorim return, but not as a companion, because he's had his companion moment in the sun. We could even meet his wife, or have him play merchant again. But, this is getting off-topic.

I've gotten that feeling the Dalish hasn't been concentrated on enough, but more in terms of their religious culture. There's that one scene in Hawke's uncle's house, with Merrill and the dog, and the conversation up at Sundermount, plus the codices of each god at least in Origins, but not enough focus on the inner workings of the Dalish religion. However, unless we get Velanna, back, I just think there will be too many different Dalish companions, and not enough Qunari/Kossith companions. I like balance and diversity in companions.

Bold underline. Actually, I really like this idea. He would share qualities that his father displays, but we need to meet Nvein first for that, I think. He could have a girlfriend who's been captured by blood mages or rogue templars for some reason, pertaining to a dwarf's relationship with lyrium, and they need a non-surface dwarf. She'd be born in Kal-Sharok.

That would be very interesting, but I'm not a huge fan of BioWare bringing DA characters back for sequels. They never turn out the same.

Merrill had basically one defining characteristic in DAO: she was a very snappy, serious, direct, no-nonsense woman that wanted Mahariel to hurry up so they could go to the ruins, get Tamlen, and go home. The devs couldn't even follow that simple characterization. Hell, she didn't even have the same tattoos. (She basically went from being like Professor McGonagall to Professor Trelawney between games.)

Anders between DA:A and DA2. Granted, there was a legitimate in-story reason for the changes, but still. I'm afraid that if Nevin does come back, they'll do a 180 with his character like they did with the others and strip the very reasons we'd want him in the first place. (Granted, change is not always a bad thing, but still I like him as-is.)

I agree about wanting diversity. I agree also that the Dalish religion and culture hasn't been explored as much as it should (Merrill talks a bit about it, but it's mostly in shallow party banter). By the same token, it's been explored more than other races and cultures, so I'd like them to get their turn.

1. Human Male Grey Warden (Sword and Shield Warrior). Old veteran nearing his Calling, a stern and skilled leader. Frequently gets caught up in political schemes and wars, and treats Warden neutrality as a "suggestion" rather than a hard rule. Comes from the Anderfels. Should look like Colm Feore.

2. Cassandra (Warrior? Maybe Two Handed).

3. Dalish Elf Male (Archer Rogue). Smug, blames city elves for their situation rather than humans. Distrusts humans, but usually puts on a friendly facade when dealing with them in public. Likes to talk about the glory days of the elves to anyone who will listen. Looks like Craig Parker.

4. Female Kossith Tal'Vashoth (Versatile Mage). Born outside the Qunari's influence and raised in a Circle. Survived an Annulment as a child by hiding among the dead. Now in her late teens to early twenties. Talented, but inexperienced. Looks up (figuratively) to the the PC as a mentor. Not sure on appearance, maybe a modified Rooney Mara.

5. Male Human Mage (Pure damage Mage). Former Tevinter Magister. Refuses to use demons or Blood Magic and lost his fortunes to a rival who did. Generally a nice guy, frequently delivers deadpan one liners. Slightly sociopathic. Tall and well built. Looks like a younger Iain Glen.

6. Sigrun (Dual Wielding Rogue). What more needs to be said?

1. An Avvar who looks at the 'war' between mages and templars and shrugs and says: "eh, let them kill each other. Why should we bother?" It's about time we get a deeper look at the Avvars and their culture in the games, they're my favorites in the tabletop version.

2. Varric.

3. Isabela or some other pirate.

Going by Dawn of the Seeker (which is "canon"), Cassandra seem to prefer dual weilding swords with lots of mobility. We also see her using a sword & board setup, but only while training, never on the field.

My verdic would be that she's a high strength/constitution melee rogue if using DA2 rules or an high dexterity Warrior if using DA:O rules. Although, nothing stop Bioware from going the Two Handed route for DA3, but I personally think it will looks weird when compared to DotS.

The Dragon Age series has been wildly visually inconsistent. Darkspawn, Elves, Qunari, Isabela, Tranquil, ... There's a long list of visual elements that are radically different from game to game. I just want some consistency.

Haven't seen DotS yet. I could see her getting her own unique weapon ability tree (i.e. a dual wielding high DEX Warrior build). She is definitely a favorite of the devs. She should also get her own unique weapons in that case (like Varric and Tallis).

I am also hoping for  either a female dwarf character or a female kossith. The dragon age series only given us one female dwarf companion and has not shown us female kossith. The next game should address that.  Also they should be romance options. We are already forced to be human protagonists, we should be able to romance other races (not just elves).

It would be good if that guy could be a romance, all the current Bioware romances are all young guys. Having an older main character would be nice too :).

Everyone remember the Friendship/Rivalry meter? Great. My favorite part of the first playthrough when I convinced Isabela to bring back the Tome of Koslun was rivalry. At the end of it all, I refused to let her get her new boat and she was okay with that. I made her a better person. That was awesome.

Basically, I want that again. As an example, I'm hoping for a female Kossith, but perhaps a recent defector from the Qun. On one path, you can reinforce her faith in the Qun while on another path you could convince her to turn full Tal-Vashoth. Sound good?

I would like to see Lady Shayle of Cadash Thaig (maybe as a romanceable dwarf option?) She would be awesome!
And speaking of awesomeness... Zevran, as a witty guildmaster.
