IMO, the best NPC character is Coran from Baldurs Gate.

i would really like to see him enteing the world of Dragon Age. Not sure how he would be written in but he could have been swallowed by a portal and ended up stranded in Thedas.

Coran's illegally high dexterity and illegally
high number of proficiency points in 'bow' makes him the most astonishing
sniper, able to pound the enemy with rapid-fire damage before they get within
striking distance. His high stealth abilities combine beautifully with these
advantages, making Coran the ultimate snipe-and-fade technician. Not too
terribly hot in a stand-up melee due to his weak hitpoints, he nevertheless is
a cornerstone of the canonical 'good party'.OC

I'm still hoping for Charade Amell as a companion. She seemed quite interesting in her own right and we'd have a neat connection to the previous protagonist.

I liked Charade too, but i think a lot of people would rage about her connection to Hawke!

I never used Coran; in fact rarely found him.
I just used either Imoen or Shar-Teel (shar-teel plus backstab = dead golems).

Imo the best BG1 NPC is Dynaheir, in BG2 it became Viconia.

I hope Velanna comes back in DA3.


Edit: Well idk how far away the sword coast is from Ferelden/kirkwall/whatever.
I'd love to see a character from either Rasheman (Dynaheir/Minsc) or even Aerie and Minsc. Bioware owns the right to remake these characters, right? (or is that still technically shared with black isle; or was that a mini-Bioware?)

if there is a Dwarf warrior as a companion in DA3 they should base him on Khelgar Ironfist from Neverwinter Nights 2
