I'm drawing near to the end of my first play through, I've played Mr. Nice Guy all the way through but want to make different choices next time and either play through 2 or 3 be a selfish character.

I had Alistair, morrigan and Lelianne the first time. I realise now I should have left Morrigan for another party and used someone else that fitted the group better like Wynne.

The problem I'm facing now is who will be my next party. I'd like to try Shale, she seems powerful. Sten seems a good choice for a darker party, but I am told he does not like side quests and well...I love side quests. I wouldn't know how to keep enough favor with him if I'm doing as many side quests as I can get. People seem divided on how good he is in battle to.

There is dog to, I would like to use, and Zevran. I know its good to have a balance. And then there is Oghren.

So my next two parties I want to be a mage and another either a dwarf or an elf.

One consideration I've done for a party idea is:

evil natured party

Shale
Sten (or Dog - I hear there are alot of funny moments for dog)
Morrigan
and me (a rogue)


I'm also wondering if a party origin with me as a dwarf and with Oghren and Shale in Orzamar might make for interesting dialogs. I found Alistair hilarious and deffinitly my favorite character, I want to use him again eventually in a 3rd or 4th go around.

Would anyone be willing to share their thoughts and ideas for an evil party and how well mine above might work and their thoughts on the pc's in general? Morrigan bugged me but I think as an evil character we'd get along well.

Well the thing with Sten, he is very easy to get approval with just by talking to him, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Shale isn't exactly dark, one of the most (imo) selfish choices will cause Shale to turn on you. I would go with Zevran or dog in his place.

And Morrigan is good in every play through, her comments make me lol.

May I suggest you make yourself the mage of the party? that leaves you space for another companions, since you already played Morrigan. You can use yourself as damage dealer and CC and can use Wynne as support for some time, or use the two rogues, or swich to two warriors if needed , it opens a wide world of oportunities.

Dog is a wicked good member especially once you get him all his skills.
AOE stun and knockdown-chew-your-face-off are 2 great abilities, plus he's fast.
Shale is an excellent tank. I usually try to get her as quick as I can. She isn't too bad about quests and is much for forgiving than Sten can be. Get some good armor/weapon gems on her and she's great.
Sten can be iffy on some quests, plus he's spec'd 2H out of the gate which isn't favored by a lot of people.
Oghren can be funny sometimes, though I never really liked him much so he stayed in camp on all 4 of my playthroughs. Never used Zev either since either I had Lelliana or I was a rogue.
If it were me, I'd go Shale, Dog, Morrigan and you.

Thanks guys, I'm going to leave Shale out of my 'evil party' then. I'm looking at what you said but I'm considering making some evil decisions next time that Wynne and Lelianne won't approve of. So next time there left out, but a possibility for round 3.
