It certainly gets my vote. I'm curious to hear what all the naysayers would put up against it.

I have putten up why I dont see it neer the GOTY.

But I would love to hear the ones saying it is, tell me why?
Cuz in my opinion it gives no sence at all.

Sorry, made edits.

I've never been so involved with a story in all my 30 years of gaming. Having had a few days to digest the EC changes, I think the ending is satisfactory. Every moment leading up to that was amazing.

Maybe it answers your question now.

Guild Wars 2 will never win GotY.  Game needs to be available on consoles to win.  A game that isn't playable by the majority of video game players will not win.

Arkham City will win.

Arkham City was released in 2011.

The game was so great it broke the laws of time and space.

I agree. Besides, what other games are coming out this year that could beat it? ACIII? No way.

Why not? AC series constantly improves without losing its cores unlike ME which lost its RPG elements as the series went. Sure Revelation was kinda felt short, but not way is it bad. Just look at footage. They improved many stuff. American colonial age is fresh start.
It seems emotion blocks people from viewing other good candidates.

Dishonored. (If you are talking about innovative approach)
Last of Us. (Go watch footage. And it is from Naughty Dog)
Halo 4(Because it is shooter sequel, doesn't disqualify its status. Many new things to add, don't forget Spartan Ops.)

Once again, here is a list of games that have a better shot at winning than Mass Effect 3.

Borderlands 2. Resident Evil 6 (I hope not). Assassins Creed 3. Halo 4. COD: Black Ops 2. Far Cry 3.

The review sites and magazines that gave Mass Effect 3 perfect scores are reeling from reader backlash right now. Many have tried to explain their position, with little success. Most have given tacit retractions in the form of op-eds that contradict their scores.

They wouldn't touch ME3 with a ten foot pole for GOTY. They don't want to loose more credibility than they've already lost. They also want people to forget how badly they messed up in their original review, the one bought and paid for by a company who will remain nameless.

It will rain on the moon before ME3 wins GOTY. Only one thing will kill this games chances, and that is the worst ending in the history of AAA games, and the worst ending in the last decade in any medium.

Despite the EC ME3 is nowhere near GOTY worthy for me. Then again me and gaming media never agree >.<

That is because you're honest with yourself. The media is busy collecting ad revenue from big developers while overrating said developer's games.

wow to hear people talk (people who waster their time on Mass effect forums might I add) they act like ME3 was just a terrible game and everything about it sucked. Sorry you expected it to be such an RPG that all of your decisions would matter. I understand I mean I wanted that to but some point grow up and be realistic it would take up incredible amounts of space and resources to live up to the expectations of some people.

ME3 Won't win game of the year. Had they not had a giant dog turd of an ending...that literally split the fanbase into ragers and anti-ragers...yeah, it was probably a shoe-in.

EC doesn't change that fact. The ending controversy has hurt it way too much and the EC was way too little to make up for it.

Can't say what will win GOTY quite yet, though I have my betting interests on AC3 atm.

P.S. Guild Wars won't be considered because its an MMO. Same reason ToR wasn't considered. Don't ask me why, I don't make the rules, but MMOS aren't ever considered for GOTY.

P.P.S Skyrim, Arkham City, And the Witcher 2 all came out last year so they aren't in the running this year. Skyrim won 90% of the GOTY awards last year

Cheers

Amazing.  You completely captured the essence of our complaints.  We are angry because we hated everything about ME3.  We are mad because they didn't show every single decision we ever made in the game in the final scene.

It wasn't the fact that they threw a little blue god of the Reapers at us at the last second, and expected us to digest that before the end.  It wasn't that same idiotic Reaper gods logic, so twisted and non-sensical that upset us at all.  It wasn't that we were shoehorned into three endings that didn't make sense, and actually nullified many of the decisions we made prior to the end.

Our continued anger has nothing at all to do with the fact that the Extended Cut changed none of these things.

Lastly, it had nothing to do with the fact that we actually loved the series, including ME3, and it broke our hearts to see such a half a** ending tacked on as if the developers forgot how to write at the end, and asked Manatees to finish the script.

It will be an interesting question, especially since ME3 and ACIII are series finale. The video game world has been abuzz about ME3 since ME1 came out- it will be quite the coup if ACIII comes from behind to beat ME3. In general, there are just not a lot of (quality) AAA games this year; I guess we were spoiled last year.

It is already my GOTY. Not that I played that many games this year, but I played D3 which seems to be the only other contender so far, and while I enjoyed it, I still thought ME3 was far better.

Since I hate how Bioware (under guidance of big brother EA) handled ME3, it is more of Fail of the Year if you ask me. Breaking promises, breaking the story, introducing "Deus Ex Machina" devices never heard of before, that could solve everything, but people how no idea what they are, even if they build them (yes, the same religious crap as the cork in LOST) and finally, giving more questions than answers (sci-fi fans love that indeed!). Space magic all the way, it is so easy and people like colours. Well, back to Dwarf Fortress and other niche games that are faithful to their player base.

My personal GOTY is dragons dogma, but the critics dont agree, so I think AClll has the besr chance.

Link please??? I'd love to read some of that.

And agreed. It will rain on the moon before ME3 gets nominated for Game of the year.

The ending does to take it out of the running, but it would help it win either. :/ I would probably vote for something else unfortunately..
