Omg lol. No. EC fixed the heartache, didn't fix the illogical crap we were fed. I was all gung ho for everything Mass Effect before the end. But with the lies, the ending, the other insurmountable amount of crap piled on top, the PR walk around on top of it all which was just insulting, God have mercy on the gaming industry if it does win it. I'm an avid hater of CoD, and I pray that it beats ME3. Wasted potential is all this game came out to be. Yea sure, there are good parts here and there, some of the best honestly, but the bad heavily weighs out the far between and few good bits.

GoW 3 > ME3 play system any day, anytime, anywhere. ME3 had story going for it and that was it.

It's sad when the story for GoW3 was more cohesive and consistent than that of ME3's.

It's amazing how such a bad ending can be explaied and now feel like a good ending. With the ending not being terrible I think it's time to give ME series it's props as one of the greats in recent gaming history.

You know what?  I'll stand behind it.  Why not?  ME3 has done what no other game has done.  What was the last game that had this big of an impact on people?  When you really look back and see everything that happened, from complete rage, to charity drives, to cupcakes, what was the last game you'd seen that triggered something like that?  And it's only been out for four months.

The game should get an award for that alone.

An award for ending so horribly that it infuriated the whole fanbase?

Oh for the love of God.  No, not an award for the ending.  At least not just the ending.  The whole, bigger picture.  The game is great.

I don't think ME3 should have any chance of winning a Game of the Year award unless EA finds a way to bribe the judges. Even though the Extended Cut DLC improves the previously terrible endings it still only raises them to the level of mediocre. All talk of the ending aside, ME3 still feels like a half-finished game. There are some great moments to be sure but there are also a LOT of lackluster ones (fetch quests, lack of hub worlds, too many cameos with no real substance, boring sidequests using the multiplayer maps, boring horde-style multiplayer mode). To win a Game of the Year award a game should be consistently good throughout. That cannot be said about ME3.

LOL puhleeze. Skyrim is everything that is wrong with RPGs. Mass Effect 3 actually shows the world dynamically reacting to your choices. Nothing in Skyrim even comes close. It just feels like one big fantasy world wandering simulator. Terrible combat and terrible dialogue.

At the very least deserves to be a candidate.

No, it doesn't.

Condescending and non-objective as can be. Start naming games that have been released within 2012 that are better than ME3, that push gaming as an art form/cinematic storytelling form further than ME3. You can't because there are none and will be none. Objectively there are zero games that have been released or are going to be that can compete with it. I'll bet $1,000 IGN gives ME3 game of the year.

Care to explain how? Aside from a few cutscenes every aspect of the ME3 story remains pretty much the same regardless of what decisions you make. This has actually been one of the biggest complaints about the game.

Most years it wouldn't have a chance, but pickings are slim in 2012. I hadn't really thought about it until this thread, but aside from AC3, there's nothing I'm looking forward to.

Bad year for games. 2013 should be far better.

Is that why in one game play through I cured the genophage and had Wrex's full support...while in another I faked it and murdered him and before that shot Mordin in the back? What about making peace between Quarians and Geth in one, while having to wipe out the Geth in another? Why don't you explain the character of Padok Wiks to me because all I've ever seen is text description of him?  How about explaining to me why I've never encountered the character Wreav in any of my playthroughs? Or have no clue what Kaiden is like in ME3? How about my first playthrough where Tali was dead and I had no ***** clue what she was like in the game and couldn't make peace? What about I don't know what the game is like without Thane being alive? Far more meaningful than anything Skyrim, Fallout, or Dragon Age even tries. And now each of the endings is far different from each other and at least attempts to react to your choices earlier (This could be improved too, but it's not like Fallout does a better job, in both it's simply slides).

really terrible combat & dialogue?! world reacts to your choices in ME3? ...yeah okay cuz being a lil b*tch for 90% of the game (ME3) running around doing what Hackett tells you is much better dialougue...oh and those cutscenes that show how dynamic your choices were...yeah. stop it.

LOL I did a direct hit on your favorite game I see. I hate the open world Bethesda games. If anything's an illusion of choice it is those pieces of trash.

Again I'm throwing down the gauntlet to those who scoff at this winning Game of the Year from reputable gaming sites (Ign, gameinformer, Xbox magazine, Playstation magazine). Start naming games that are superior and will win GOTY over it.

And please, stop using the "oh it's just a weak year for games" excuse. Every year there are maybe 3-5 games that realistically have a chance of being named GOTY. I'll give three for this year: ME3, Diablo 3, Batman Arkham City. ME3 is far and away better than those other two games.
