The cinematic clips seem to go by too fast, and the audio seems out of sync - at the end of every statement, it sounds like two people are talking.
I have a brand new PC with a dual core processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a new GeForce, but I'm running directX 9 cuz I'm using Windows XP.
Cinematics are really fast, and the audio seems out of sync.

I am having a similar issue, running windows 7 x64 with a e6600 Core 2 duo and an Nvidia gtx260. Playing the Steam copy of the game.the audio and video are in sync at the start of a cinematic, but as it plays the audio falls behind the video being shown. Audio drivers are up to date and I tried those codecs you mentioned as well with no luck. I first noticed this during the cutscene at the beginning of the game when you select new character around where the dwarves are fighting the darkspawn. Any other ideas?
Edit: During cutscenes where characters speak on camera, their voices match up just fine. Makes me wonder if there is something weird with how the video overlay is running. Problem ocured origonally with no codecs other than the win7 defaults installed. While the game is technically playable, the cutscene issues are definately a problem that makes it difficult to follow some of the longer scenes.

Update! I tried setting the processor affinity to a single core, I think it may of made it run slightly better, but it is still definitely out of sync. It just slowly desyncs as the video is playing on screen. Almost as if the video is playing too fast or the audio is playing too slow. I've been trying to find other people with the same problem via google, but no luck so far.

Ok so I just tried EA customer support, sent my dxdiag info to them. They said I had "some graphical corruption problem" I followed his directions as best I could (he was giving me links to support documents that were formatted for windows xp instead of windows 7) and then promptly started ignoring everything else through the live chat client.
I disabled all of the running processes I could on my system, refreshed my resolution settings, cleared my temp folder (%temp%) and still no luck.
Attempting to reconnect with them right now...

Reinstalling these codecs solved the problem. Thank you!

Tried reinstalling the codecs again, no luck, rebooted too.
Argh, this is so annoying. That sequence where Duncan is kicking the darkspawn around after hitting "New Character" has the audio lagging behind by at least 3 seconds or so. Ugh.

I had this same problem with DungeonSiege 2 sometime ago. I installed the latest DivX codec package and worked like a charm. Worth a try no?
The problem with this cinematic sequences is that they often use your video codecs, instead of the game's own engine. That's why the audio doesn't lag when you are talking with someone in camp (game using own engine). But lags during movies (game using your codecs).
PS: I don't know if that's the case with Dragon Age. I really can't say how the game handles movies/audio.

Thanks for the tip. I installed that k-lite pack, that should of come with all the codecs in the world so if divx was needed I'm sure that would of been covered as well.
I'll try forcing directx to update and see if that helps though come to think of it, if its not codecs its the driver behind them I bet.

In a previous post (when communicating with the EA support) you mentioned a "graphical corruption problem". Ever tried updating your video card? (or re-updating it?)

Yeah, I reinstalled my drivers, and when I spoke with them a second time they didn't mention anything about the corruption. So either I fixed it or the first guy was just making things up.

Just to add - I'm having this problem as well. Video in the cutscenes plays slightly faster than the audio. Only affects cutscenes.
Windows 7, Intel Quad Core, VIA HD Audio.
Sound Drivers are latest, tried installing the Divx codecs as someone above suggested, no change.

Had the same problem. Reinstalled Codex and the problem resolved immediately. Restarted computer the next day and tried to play DA:O. Problem back. Do I need to reinstall the sound / graphics drivers again? Or should I just bite the bullet and get the console version?

I have the same problem as MeepZero... sound basically goes from synched to out of synch the farther we go into the video.
Heard somewhere that having two sound peripherals working at the same time might be the cause... maybe you guys should check it out. It solved the problem for some dude, but not for me, even though I had two working sound hardwares.
I have that same problem with the PC version of Devil May Cry 4 (PS3 brokedown, I know), and it's starting to REALLY ****** me off. Here are mon computer specs:
-i7 920 processor
-hd 5870 GPU
-6 gig ram 1666 mhz
-Rampage 2 motherboard
-COME THE HELL ON!!!

Ok I uninstalled both the k-lite codec pack AND the Windows Media Codecs from the "Uninstall Program" in Config Panel...
It helped ALOT! The videos take WAY longer to become out of sync, and even when it starts to become a LITTLE appearant (after like a minute in the video), it's MUCH more bareble...
Hope it helps!

Replaying the game and bumping this.
This is not resolved yet?
I Guess that Dragon Age 2 this issue will be fixed.
