So, many agree the EC was a big improvement, but did it rekindle your love or recapture the magic of the series??

Let me put it this way.
Instead of unending agony and desperation like the original endings, the ED endings are merely a letdown and an annoyance.

I admit I could probably have lived with them.

What I don't get is why we can't have more than that one breath at the end if our rating is good enough. Why not show us the crew finding a living Shepard then, why not a few stills of Shep and his/ her family.

Why in all of this couldn't Bioware simply swallow their pride for once and give the fans that were desperately wishing for it an all around happy ending?

To answer your question, because happy endings are sappy, and not artistic.

To answer the original question, no. Still have no desire to play any of them, and especially 3.

I believe the EC restored my love for the series (alongside the multiplayer). Although the endings aren't 'perfect', which is kind of hard to achieve by the way, they are a lot more satisfying as they originally were, and they manage to retain the epicness of the series more.
Therefore, although I don't really like to sacrifice my Shepard, I think the endings are more appropriate, and more distinct from each other. And I think the 'rejection' ending is a nice feature :)

I only wonder how it will be possible to create a sequel to the series now though, since the outcome of all the endings have so many differences, especially the Synthesis one...

After playing my first ME3 game back in March, I was depressed for a week.
Now I am smiling.

They did almost the best they could do without replacing the premise of the ending completely. The damned dark age is gone and all endings are now eminently playable and very different instead of feeling the same.

I still think the premise of the ending didn't fit what came before, namely that synthetics had been presented as too friendly beforehand to make the recurring pattern of conflict believable, but I'm willing to let that slide as long as I don't don my critic's hat.

So: yeah. I can now replay ME3 and the trilogy without feeling ever more dread the nearer I get to the ending.

To be honest locally Mass Effect 3 is being offered £5 for trade in and for all 3 games i was offered £8. With the current damned if you do and damned if you don't endings i don't have much interest anymore in the series.

No. EC made the ending a bit better but it did not rekindle my love for Mass Effect.

Then why are you still on the forums?

To be honest I have no idea how anyone can be satisfied with it. For those who are, take a look at my Return Of The Jedi analogy on page nine.

This time take in to consideration that now they made an extended edition that makes the star child say he is now the living embodiment of the Force. Yoda and Obi Wan convinced him he must intervene because the corrupting nature of the Emperor and the dark side was actually threatening the balance of the force and by extension the life in the galaxy that creates it.

All explained now, better ending?

Of course not.

Improvemnet, yes. But its only smoke and mirrors as the whole ending is a foreign forced concept - the ME thing got too big and writers didnt know how to tie up everything at the end imo. Several outside factors were to blame probably: lack of time and resources, implementing MP and so on.

BW plays well on emotions and character interactions... but the storyline was so thin I wouldnt be surprised if Smurfs were to blame for the reapers.

Nope.

Same outcomes no matter how well you play the game (get all assests and MP) means its all rather futile in the end.

No. Still don't love the endings, Maybe if this had been there from the start, maybe. But I've had too much time to see all of the other little things that wouldn't have bothered me that much if I had loved the endings or even liked them. From what I've seen and read and looked at, the EC is going to help me overcome my obsession with the series. No longer hate, but no longer love.

I'll be able to play another one or two of my many Shepards, the endings did accomplish that. But I can't find the passion I had for the first 2 so I'm glad they did the EC, but no the EC didn't rekindle anything.

Not as long as Starkid and his "solution" are still there.

Although I will admit that EC made the endings slightly less bad

Bioware should include this in there next DLC single player expansion. Its a suggestion that someone should definetly pass on to casey and his team.

Improvement, yes. Big improvement, no. Given there is no intent (currently) to release post ec dlc (per BW employee) it renders midgame dlc irrelevant for me. Still like the game regardless, but dlc would have to be epic and somehow affects the existing endings for me to make the purchase. Post ec dlc with Shepard would definitely get me on board...probably what most people want.

The endings are now better than they were before, but still not as good as they could have been. Not nearly as good as everyone was expecting.

What I don't get is, after all this time (3-4 months) they STILL didn't add any of our "assets" fighting in battle. The "Rachni Lie" has been brought up on this board about 10 times a day for all these months. Given that, they STILL didn't put it in there even though they had a straight-up open door opportunity to do so.

But I digress...

Anyway, I think the most important thing is that for MOST of us, even though we're still disappointed, we now have a sense of hope for the future of the series whereas before, we were all writing it off.

The ending of ME3 will always be a "low point" in the series, I think, but every series has a "low point." The important thing now is that it is no longer a "crash point" or a "shark point."

I posted before in this thread, but I wanted to add that I still get a feeling of wonder when the Normandy pulls into the Citadel for the first time or when it's revealed in ME2. You get a feeling that the world is vast, that your adventures will be many, and that anything is possible. There's nothing that will take that away. It's the reason I'm so passionate about the series. There are so many great moments, so many companions that you'll never forget. Whether they create a new Mass Effect game or not, I'll still proudly wear my hoodie and T shirts and keep the N7 patch on my motorcycle jacket. And I'll see you in multiplayer.

Ok, the EC endings were a big improvement, but is not what many users have been preparing for, I expected other kind of conclusion, more epic, and maybe more simple, but more effective, something like

High EMS= Total victory, Mid EMS= Shep Dies... Low EMS= Reapers Wins... A better refusal ending or the IT.

But, I appreciate the effort put in this EC.

I never lost my love for the universe or the series, but I was really dissapointed by the endings. I remember thinkig on my second playthrough: "Why am I even going through these side missions and gaining assets? Its not like they really matter. I always get the same bleak ending..." Now, I cant go through the ending without tears. I like what EC added to the game. I am content with the outcome.

Yup. The old endings made me sad and never want to pick up the series again, but the new endings made me want to start my next playthrough before the credits were done rolling.
