So, many agree the EC was a big improvement, but did it rekindle your love or recapture the magic of the series??

I was already happy about my playthroughs of the Mass Effect Trilogy even though the original endings were not satisfactory. But the EC to me helps for a sense of closure. Yes, there are still questions of speculation, but it's a smart move. this keeps people talking and imagining.

I'm just hoping for more unique content in the future. I want Shepard's story to be over with the EC in ME3. I would love to expereince more but this time with my choosing of what race. I love them all.

It gave me sugar to put on top of a turd sundae that I was forced to eat. Removes some bad taste, but I'm still not going to like it. Especially when past sundaes were ice cream.

So, yeah... my love is still low and there's a huge build up of hatred/anger in my gut every time I see the word BioWare or Mass Effect.

My faith in Bioware has seen some restoration.

This.
I really liked EC, but I'll still hold the original endings against BioWare forever. It was a huge misstep.

no, i still don't feel like replaying the whole saga, and before ME3, i had always a current playthru of ME1 and ME2 running.

first ending killed replayability for me, and EC didn't fix it.

and by the way, i LOVE the ME universe ( don't know how many hundreds of hours on it) that's why i can't be satisfied with all this. I still feel the sorrow.

For me the EC wasn't a big improvement, it was a small improvement.
It still stinks badly and gave me no desire to replay or to buy any pre-ending DLC

Well, I now know that the Catalyst is just an AI that was created to find solutions to the synthetic/organic conflict. And... it turned those creators into a Reaper, of which they 'did not approve'. So at least that's clear(ish), and we can all tell him to stick his choices up his backside. It's just a misguided rogue AI. Uh... ignoring the 'so be it' line, but then again, it is technically the 'collective intelligence' of all Reapers. For all we know, that could have been its 'real' voice.

With the way the three endings are shown, I think they are all good and really show what kind of future the galaxy has in store for itself. Even better, the choices are so radically different that a player can choose which they like or dislike, and they will not be 'wrong'. So that's all good. And you can even choose to go down fighting! It... doesn't show how that happens... but it allows for some good intepretation, if you're not one of those people that feels 'insulted' by it.

Some major plotholes are now fixed, and those that are left I can handle.

So yeah! The Extended Cut made me feel happy about the end to the trilogy, and I will definitely replay them all again in the future.

No, While better than the original endings they still fall short of being good, or even decent.

It made it better but I still don't feel the same type of emotion I did before for the ME series.

Yes it did, I'm quite happy with how I can follow the logic of the reapers and understand the cycle.

I will say I'm open to buy more mass effect games or dlcs, I guess thats one way to measure the quality/effectiveness of the ec {i was impressed with the new control ending}....so I guess in that respect the ec was successful but I still maintain hope for a small LI reunion dlc....

that aspect is still eternally upsetting in the worst way how we dont get a scene reuniting w/ li AT ALL, just implied....u know b/c THIS IS IT, its the end of a trilogy....but I digress....

It's rekindled it enough for me to replay the original trilogy. I don't think I can bring myself to buy any future content for the series however.

ppl seem confused by the fact that the cataylst sounds like harbinger in the reject ending.....I thought about it and yes, the cataylst said hes the collective intellegence of the reapers{though i still have trouble processing that fully} so-there you go....do the math

EC was not an improvement, no.  The problem was never the gaping plot holes in the original ending, though there were many and they gaped.  The problem was a combination of the pre-launch marketing "promising" a level of player control over the ending that was not in the final game, and the actual ending relying on a completely new, out of left field character in the last 5 minutes of the game telling you that it is really behind it all and making you chose which "magic" to use for your ending.  Did the EC fix some of the issues there were with the Catalyst and its Space Magic?  Sure.  But the real issue was that there was a Catalyst and you win by colored space magic.  So, no, the EC did not rekindle my love.

I was really happy with the new Synthesis and Control endings, and felt that those choices now had clear paths and results that were explained. I liked the extra dialogue a great deal, especially the explanation of why Joker zipped away in the original ending. Synthesis is now intriguing to me instead of vaguely horrifying. And Control is an extremely viable path to all my renegade megalomaniac Shepards, muhaha.

The only complaint I have, and it's just one, is that the squad thinks Shepard is dead in Destroy even if he/she isn't and I've maxed my GR. The LI mourning you when you're alive is depressing.
So, yes, I'm much more pleased with the EC endings than the original ones.

To be honest, doing another playthrough for the EC rekindled my love for the series. Despite its problems, I actually want to pick up 1 and do a trilogy runthrough again. Knowing that I didn't screw over my friends does make me feel a little better about the trilogy, I just wish I knew they were trying to tell a nihilistic story about surrender and compromising your morals when I started, it seemed almost the opposite for most of the trilogy. Oh well.

It was most certainly an improvement, but Cerberus Base and Priority Earth still felt like a chore to play, not a fun experience like the SM of ME2 was. The new endings were good but not worth starting a new career over to see the different outcomes, and sadly I think I will just youtube them rather than experience them.

Even with new endings, I think I am going to give the ME series a break for a while, and hopefully the love will come back.

It explained things a lot better, but the endings themselves were and still are, terrible.

If anything, the lines aren't so blurry as to what each choice will result in. Which is a good thing. However, the fact remains that your choices in the entire series simply do not matter, and no matter what, you die (or not in Destroy, but that's just pure trolling right there).

I think all of our DESPERATELY WANTING the ec to be good and satisying actually makes it so more than it actually is....those pre release statements really got ppls expectations up, just lies....but I maintain the ec is still good and Im still grateful for it, even if bioware have acted like asses....and one more time: LI REUNION DLC!!!!

To answer the question presented in the title of this thread....YES....

For the last 4 months I've put my ME3 disc in my Xbox, get to the main menu, and could not bring myself to play the game.....this was a daily habit....I hated StarBrat more than any character in the history of games. I hated the ambiguously vague endings that were all the same and made no sense whatsoever...

But now, beyond all comprehension to myself....they did it....they somehow made sense of everything, and explained everything....I feel like a damn hero again....my sacrifice wasn't meaningless like it was in the original endings....

I used to dread the endings as I got closer to them.....now I can't wait to play through the entire game just to get to them.....

The Catalyst conversation went from the most stupid "WTF" moment ever.....to the crowning achievement of the EC....

Never thought it'd happen....I even gave up hope.....I knew Bioware couldn't do it....But they did...

I can play my favorite series of all time again....Thank You Bioware

Nope, an improvement, but still bad. Im done with playing bioware games anyways, ME3 was my last chance for Bioware after a plethora of decisions I did not agree with.

I think the only company I faith in to consistently make games I will enjoy now is Blizzard, because I have gotten my moneys worth out of every game I got from them, and I buy every single one of their games.

I take issue with the "most" in the thread title, but that aside...

Nope, it addressed some of the lower-level issues I had without tackling anything that I really cared about. I still have no will to play any other ME games, and I won't be buying any more Bioware products until I see someone with some authority take some level of responsibility. It probably won't happen 'til I'm old and some junior level writer is doing an interview on the ME3 25th anniversary or something...

I'm now fine with Destroy/Shepard lives ending. The other ones are just horrifying.

I'm still waiting for IT to be revealed as true and have more epic adventures in ME4 though.
