So, many agree the EC was a big improvement, but did it rekindle your love or recapture the magic of the series??

No. Still hate how it all went down and ended. Glad more was explained though.

No. Almost all of the problems are still there, they've just had the edge taken off them. The EC was an improvement and I'll now be happy enough to replay (in time) but the magic's still gone. So I suppose the EC was good enough for what it needed to do but only by the tiniest margin.

If we really never see shepard after ME3 then I'd say the extended synthesis worked for me but the magic is still kind of lost knowing there will never be little blue sheps running around. I can safely say I won't play through any of the games again.

I'll stick with the cartoon strips the dude is doing. THEY ARE THE TRUE ENDING. screw bioware.

Pfft. No.

It was a minor improvement at best and certainly did no favours with me.

Not really. The endings are better, but they're still pretty bad.

EC did not address the basic flaws in the ending, just went on to assure us that they "weren't so bad". In essence, it put some fancy furniture in a house where the roof leaked, the wiring was bad, and a family of racoons was living in the attic.

Bioware, next time you make a game with multiple endings, but don't want one to be the "best" ending, try to focus more on making each ending "good" in its own right. Don't drag them down to the point where we have to debate which is "least bad" and where a fourth "bad guys win" option becomes a legitimate alternative, as it did here.

It allowed me to move on and cherish my passing with Mass Effect. Down the road, I'll remember it as a great story/game that I enjoyed playing. I think no ending, no matter which, would give the sense of amazingness that ME1 had, because that's the discovery stage. This is closure, the EC endings give closure (finally). Sure they could've been better, they still wouldn't have been good for eveyone. At least now, most of those that wanted something else can move on.

However, I don't see how I could ever visit the universe again in a past story. And because of the divergent endings, there's no way you could actually visit it in the future. Because I'm sure they won't pick a canon.

I'm still aching for more Mass Effect though, but I just can't say what exactly.

Edit: Corrected some mistakes.

It allowed me to feel OK about the ending ... which is the best I could've asked for considering how much I despise StarChild.

I can enjoy the franchise, the characters and the universe again ... and I'll take it .

I'll probably be able to play through it again....mostly thanks to great fanfics though. There we have people who care about the ME universe and its character writing instead of someone who wants to do "art" for the sake of art.

Yes now it didnt seem like a rushed ending.
Its not perfect, but if you love tali, liara or ashley ( if you are male) and you choose synthesis i think it is almost perfect final

What can I say. I got what I wanted. Almost 100%. I feel vindicated in my approach to the original endings, which can be summarized as "If it doesn't make sense and feels unsatisfying, interpret the hell out of it until it makes sense and feels satisfying".

The rationale for the cycle is still questionable, and there are still things I can only shake my head about - contradictions, incoherent writing, waste of storytelling opportunities and more - but the EC endings are awesome in their own right, even if the thematic link of the whole ending sequence to what has come before is occasionally sketchy.

So...I am happy. Where after the original endings, I was depressed for days, I now a have a big grin on my face. My dreams of the ME universe have been restored, and I like all of the new endings.

I've also noticed that the writers compromised their original vision quite a bit. "No more dark age" (at least in high EMS endings) is perhaps the most striking difference between the old endings and the new. As I see it, that change paid off in a big way. I can only say to the ME3 team: thank you for compromising where it was most needed!

For me, yeah, this was a big improvement and I really appreciate it. It patched up some pretty big holes, added some tear-jerkers, and made me incredibly proud of my original decision to Control the Reapers (damn you IT and the doubts you gave me). Granted, there are still some issues, I can honestly say I fee like starting NG+ and importing some other Sheps over. And that was the biggest thing for me: replayability. SHO HAPPAI.

I tried but it didn't matter. It sticks with me, but not in a good way.

I don't want to debate it either. It's just not a good memory at all.

Yes. Because of the good epilogue and actual explanation of the ending and all the stuff after, I can replay the games and enjoy them, rather than be reminded about how it all didn't matter. Plus my Shep gets to meet Ashley again :D

Yes. The added context provided me with closure. I'm now looking forward to new games in the ME3 universe. Before I felt a sense of bleakness because of the ambiguousness of the original ending.

The Destroy Ending did when I saw the Clip on yotube.

Then I played the game and it died again, Mass Effect 3 tries to be a third person Shooter with some choice and I hate it, it is too cutscene, it is like a more boring Space Marine.

So in a word almost.

No, not really.

-sigh-

The thing is, if this had been the original ending, I would have been fine with it. I would have thought it should have been a little more epic, but I would have accepted it. It wasn't the original ending though. The original ending was a broken atrocity. Now the new ending is acceptable, but "acceptable" in no way, shape, or form makes up for the original. They needed to go with "spectacular" to make up for the abysmal original endings, and they didn't/couldn't.

That and I think hating Space Brat is permanently etched into my brain now. XD

At first I thought the EC was everything I needed. My first playthrough I chose Destroy and was really impressed with all the new details, from the Normandy picking up the wounded in front of the beam to the new dialogue options with the Star Kid. Then we got more 'closure' with how the galaxy continued after Shepard was gone. Yeah, it was great.

But I just finished my second playthrough with a different character and now the initial 'wow' has gone, I'm still finding the endings really poor. They're better written now, they give more details, but it doesn't make them any better as part of the story. The main and pretty much only problem for me is the Star Kid, it just doesn't work for me. With the EC I like his investigate options, it makes him a more believable character, but it's still a character that shouldn't even be there.

Nope. It would take a complete rewrite for that* - the very premise of ME3 ("Reapers invade and we beat them") completely undermines the series. But now, we had to have epic space battles in the finale...

* and Casey Hudson's resignation or a refund on grounds of deceptive marketing

Nope, don't know why Normandy didn't distract Harbinger so you could run up.
Didn't know why more of the squad didn't come out since only two were with you.
Didn't like that Normandy doesn't make it to you after you open the arms of the Citadel. I mean Joker will make it to you other times.

In short, yes.

Now that the ending got somewhat sorted out, I'll play through it again, and again.

Sadly... nope. The ending is still poorly written and no matter of improvements will make the star-child nonsense better. Bioware takes control of my hero and drives him down a path they choose that is completely out of character.

They completely missed the point of the complaints and did not address the main issues. Lack of player choice affecting the ending and lack of prior choices affecting the ending... ie still no rachnids, etc.

It's nice they tried to patch some plot holes, but they did it in a horribly flawed way. Like the Normandy coming down to pick your squad up... apparently the giant reapers decided to hold off shooting you so you could evac your honey.

It sorted it out but it made me realize that these are how the ending shouldve came on the disc, I think Bioware needs to pull the original released ME3 and reprint them with EC already there. But since it wasnt originally on the disc and it is dlc, I dont know if I should continue to buy Bioware games. Its very likely Dragon Age 3 well have similar problems because its quite apparent that Bioware games are now being rushed and not getting the love and care they use to get, first Dragon Age 2 and now Mass Effect 3 have both had negative impacted with them being rushed.

I will give it a pass if the EC endings are the original one. Don't get me wrong they are still bad, but at least they are not insulting.
