So, many agree the EC was a big improvement, but did it rekindle your love or recapture the magic of the series??

oh no, i still hate the ending, but its certainly an improvement over the original ending.

This.

It will still remain a case study for future generations of gaming on story elements, but they made it much easier to swallow in the EC, if not entirely satisfying.

No.

Had destroy ended with a LI and Crew reunion than perhaps.

If Star brat had been removed than perhaps.

IT was a more intelligent/clever ending but whatever.

The end(sht) tastes alot sweeter now though.

No it did not the spark and magic that I felt with bioware and mass effect is gone I can't play the series again or even gather the will to press the new game button on me3. Right now I am just playing skyrim and if bioware keep trying to develop games in 1.5-2 year cycles I will no longer throw money at bioware but at bethesda.

As long as the star brat and his retarded logic is there I can't play it.

Not really. The 'magic' of the series for me was the freedom of choice and the threat of consequences of your choices. I never felt like we really saw the consequences of most of our choices, so it's sort of hurt my investment in this series.

As far as the Extended cut goes I kept my expectations low. The additions did help with contnuity somwhat, But In my vew thay did not adress many of the flaws with the orignal concept. It major one wor mw was the half baked Deus ex 'Inspired' (ripped off) endings concept. Granted there was more explanation this time around, but it still tried to shuehorn major theames right at the very end. The eplogues may explane things, but explaning a flawed convept does not sudently make it good.

The synthsis ending is still horable and even more disturbing with the additions. Yrt its still presented as the "best option" I could go in to detail as to why this is not the case and why it fails, but I suspect it would just be repeating what many have already said.

Bioware get points for Effort on this but I feel it was minimul in terms of effect. Also I feel there was alt of selective hearing going on and thats the most disappointing part about this whole thing. All of the options presented stuill have the flaws pointed out months ago. This is a slightly less confused pile of steaming dung in a neater package but its still dung.. It seems the only way I have a chance of keeping shepered corporial is to wipe put edi and the geth. Which flyd in the face of everything ive done over 3 games.
Was this biowares best effort or was it all thay were allowed to do?

There will always be people who just want the "ending sucks" train to never end, I think the EC fixed everything about the ending.

i think most ppl just wanted a good and satisfying ending.....the shock, depression and sadness was there before it turned to anger....

Although the ending was a begging. The ME series is still dead to me until further notice, as is any other Bioware products.

I took the time to play through all 3.5. The "refuse" ending isn't a total ending, but I could have accepted it as part of an Indoc "you failed" ending...At any rate I'll admit to them being "better" but still not what I'd expected all along and certainly not what a ret-con'd/indoc ending could have been.

Side note: During the "blue" ending the color pallet wigged out and my space magic turned to a vibrant purple for about 15 seconds...I'm honestly wondering if it was a glitch or another subtle "**** you" from Bioware.

If future single player DLC is free, then i'll probably play ME3 again....if not well I doubt i'll waste my time. I'll probably never pre-order another Bioware title and I certainly won't purchase another new title from them without ample non-main stream review scanning. As others stated, Bethesda can have my money/loyalty from now on.

It made me fall in love with ME all over again. I wish it did for everyone else.

And how did it create new problems?

No. While many of the added details were nice (universe not annihilated, Joker's pickup of the crew and departure from the system, the little memorial scene), the most dreadful part of the original endings was always the Star Child for me. He just completely derails everything, even with the option to question him a bit more. I knew they weren't going to remove him, merely add details to an obviously rushed ending, so I didn't expect the EC to do it for me. The flesh is mended, but the bone is still broken.

If you like the new endings, I'm happy for you and more power to you. I keep hanging around the forums hoping to spark that love of the series again, and I think a lot of other people are doing the same (which is why you see so many who still hate the endings posting, I think). I'm glad others are enjoying it again, but I just can't seem to feel that magic anymore.

No. I might play new single player dlc if they are free, but otherwise probably not. I'll probably sell my copy too. No reason to play anymore. Real shame too I have the collectors edition.

I think hanging around the forums is actually hurting you more than doing you good. You should just step away from ME for a bit, take a break. Go try something new or do something else. Then come back and play the first one all the way through. Maybe it'll spark that love again.

Well ME1 is one of my all time top 5 favorite games, so I never lost the love for it. I played it after I finished the game the first time.

The EC was satisfactory, but it still doesn't make this game one that I will have anywhere near the number of play throughs I had on ME1, and probably not even ME2. I'll probably play ME1 more than ME3 going forward from now.

OP - Was the EC an improvement over the original endings? Definitely, but that's not exactly saying a lot considering how epicly bad the originals were. But improvement or not, the EC has not rekindle the magic of the ME series for me.

My faith in BW is *not* restored...I do not love them unconditionally...Nor am I seeing BW as a great RPG developer who should not be questioned as to where they are moving. What is sad though is that the EC *should* have been in the original game to begin with, not added in because of pressure due to the horrific endings we got.

This site; "http://shannon.users.sonic.net/masseffect/" I found to be better than the original endings and the "closure" of the EC.

No. The EC just smooth the edges of the endings but does nothing to capture that magic of ME. ME3 is a flunk.

The magic is gone, I'm sorry to say. Uninstalled me3 and origin this morning. Don't get me wrong, the EC was an improvement, but it was too little, too late, too many plot holes left unresolved and some new ones now to contend with. I'm grateful we got the EC and that bioware took the time for it, but it just wasn't enough. The series deserved a better ending.

As lame as it sounds, hearing Shepard's defiant "I don't believe you!" when talking to the catalyst was almost enough to redeem the ending in my eyes.

Almost...

Remember ilos, when shepard said to the VI (paraphrasing) "you abandoned your people. you were supposed to protect them and you left them to die!" where was that level of defiance? Shepard was such a badass in me1.
